The original One UI 6 Watch beta is no longer a current enrollment program. Samsung opened the limited beta in June 2024 for eligible Galaxy Watch owners in the United States and South Korea. The beta initially focused on Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, with enrollment handled through Samsung Members. Samsung later released the stable One UI 6 Watch update, based on Wear OS 5, beginning with the Galaxy Watch6 generation and expanding to other compatible watches.
If you own a Galaxy Watch6 today, check for the stable software through the Galaxy Wearable app rather than looking for the old beta registration card.
What the One UI 6 Watch beta was
One UI 6 Watch was Samsung’s major wearable software update that introduced new health, fitness, interface, and gesture features, including Galaxy AI-related wellness insights. Samsung announced the beta in June 2024 as a limited test for selected Galaxy Watch users—not as a permanent software channel or a worldwide public release.
Samsung’s announcement listed the following eligible watch families for the beta:
- Galaxy Watch4
- Galaxy Watch4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch5
- Galaxy Watch5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch6
- Galaxy Watch6 Classic
The initial beta population was limited to the United States and South Korea. The Samsung announcement described Galaxy AI and the new health and fitness tools, while contemporary reporting identified the Galaxy Watch6 series as the initial rollout focus.

Was the Galaxy Watch 6 beta still live?
Not for current enrollment. The phrase “beta program is live” referred to the June 2024 launch period. It should not be read as a promise that registrations remain open now.
Samsung subsequently moved One UI 6 Watch through testing and into stable distribution. Samsung’s November 2024 communication said the update would begin with the Galaxy Watch6 series and then expand sequentially to compatible Galaxy Watch6 Classic, Watch5, Watch5 Pro, Watch4, Watch4 Classic, and Galaxy Watch FE devices, depending on market, carrier, model, and paired-smartphone conditions. Android Central’s report on the stable rollout records the late-October and November 2024 distribution timeline.
Availability can still differ by country, exact model, Bluetooth or LTE configuration, carrier, and the Samsung Galaxy phone connected to the watch. A missing update does not necessarily mean that the watch is incompatible.

During the beta period, eligible owners generally followed this path:
- Open the Samsung Members app on the paired Galaxy phone.
- Look for the One UI 6 Watch beta notice or registration card.
- Open the notice, read the terms, and submit the participation form.
- After acceptance, open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Go to Watch settings > Watch software update and check for the beta package.
The registration card was not guaranteed to appear. Samsung beta availability varies by country, device, operating-system version, and the particular beta period. Contemporary coverage reported that the first Galaxy Watch6 beta was for Bluetooth models. LTE models were not planned for that initial beta, despite earlier expectations that LTE participation might follow. Owners should therefore not assume that an LTE Galaxy Watch6 could join simply because the Bluetooth version was eligible.
For historical beta guidance, Samsung’s One UI beta documentation is the relevant reference. It does not turn the original 2024 registration into an active program.

What One UI 6 Watch added
Energy Score and wellness insights
One UI 6 Watch introduced Energy Score, a summary intended to help users understand daily readiness. Samsung described it as using signals including sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and sleeping heart-rate variability.

More detailed sleep information
The update also provided additional sleep insights. Reported inputs included:
- Sleeping heart rate
- Respiratory rate during sleep
- Sleep quality
- The time taken to fall asleep after going to bed
These measurements can help users notice patterns, but they remain consumer wellness information rather than a clinical sleep assessment.
Workout Routine
Workout Routine lets users combine several exercises into a customized sequence. A routine can include targets such as sets and repetitions, making it useful for structured gym sessions or repeated circuits instead of manually starting every exercise one at a time.

It is therefore not a general comparison tool for every workout or an unlimited historical racing database.
Personalized cycling FTP
Samsung also described personalized functional threshold power, or FTP, calculations for cyclists. The watch needs to be connected to a cycling power meter, and Samsung’s qualification specifies cycling at medium-to-high intensity for more than four minutes.
A power meter is optional equipment sold separately. It is not required for ordinary Galaxy Watch6 use or for the rest of One UI 6 Watch. Cyclists specifically pursuing this feature can look for a cycling power meter for Galaxy Watch, but compatibility and Bluetooth support should be confirmed before purchase.

New gestures and interface changes
One UI 6 Watch expanded hands-free controls and changed parts of the watch interface:
- Double Pinch: perform actions such as answering calls, dismissing alarms, scrolling notifications, controlling music, and taking pictures.
- Universal Gestures: automatically focus an actionable control so it can be selected with gesture-based interaction.
- Horizontal flicking: improve movement through notifications and tiles.
- Ongoing activities: provide a list of activities currently in progress.
- Default font: introduce a new default typeface.
- Bluetooth audio: improve aspects of Bluetooth-audio behavior.
- Power Saving: offer an option to limit health features to help extend battery life.
Some controls and labels can vary by software build, watch model, language, and paired phone. A feature described in the beta may also be adjusted before or after stable release.
How to check your Galaxy Watch6 now
Because the beta period has ended, use the normal update path:
- Charge the watch and keep it near the paired phone.
- Open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Choose Download and install, if an update is offered.
Also check the watch’s installed version in the software-information area of the watch settings. If no update appears, verify that the phone has a working internet connection, the watch has sufficient battery and storage, and the Galaxy Wearable app is current. Rollouts can be staged, so the update may arrive later for a particular country, carrier, model number, or paired-phone configuration.

Do not attempt to install an old beta package from an unofficial source. Beta firmware can contain bugs, incomplete features, battery problems, connectivity issues, or unexpected data loss.

Beta risks and preparation
Samsung intended the software for testing. Participation was voluntary and at the user’s risk. Before installing beta firmware, Samsung recommended backing up watch data with Smart Switch.
Practical precautions included:
- Back up important data before enrolling.
- Do not install beta software on a watch that is essential for time-critical work, travel, exercise tracking, or health monitoring.
- Expect possible bugs, battery changes, unreliable sensors, app incompatibilities, or connection problems.
- Keep the paired phone, Galaxy Wearable, and Samsung Health software updated.
- Record your previous settings if you may need to reset or recover the watch.
A beta update is not automatically better for every owner. The new features may be attractive, but stability and battery life matter more if the watch is used daily.

No. Existing owners of a compatible watch did not need to purchase new hardware to receive the stable update, provided their exact model and region were supported. The Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic were central beta devices, but the update was also associated with compatible Watch4, Watch5, and Watch FE generations.
If you are buying a watch specifically to use the One UI 6 Watch features, confirm the current software and regional support before purchasing. A new watch is not a prerequisite for an owner whose existing device already qualifies.
Useful accessories—and what is actually optional
One UI 6 Watch does not require a special band, screen protector, or charger. Existing owners may nevertheless find a Galaxy Watch6 replacement band useful for comfort, a Galaxy Watch6 screen protector useful for added protection, or a Galaxy Watch6 charger useful as a spare for travel or a second charging location.
Check the exact case size, connector, charging compatibility, and whether an accessory is intended for the Watch6 or Watch6 Classic before buying. These products support ownership; they are not beta-enrollment requirements.
