Samsung ran the public test in 2024 for selected Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, and Watch6-series owners in the United States and South Korea. Samsung began the stable One UI 6 Watch rollout on November 19, 2024, so Galaxy Watch6 owners should now check for the official update in Galaxy Wearable—not look for a beta invitation.
The original beta process, eligibility rules, risks, and recovery options remain useful if you are researching an older installation or trying to understand why a beta banner never appeared.
What happened to the One UI 6 Watch beta?
Samsung announced the One UI 6 Watch beta in 2024 as a limited public test. It was distributed through the Samsung Members app and announced for users in the United States and South Korea.

The beta covered the following watch families:
- Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic
That list did not guarantee support for every Bluetooth or LTE variant, imported model, carrier configuration, or region. Enrollment depended on the exact watch, paired Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung Account, software version, and market.
Samsung later started the stable rollout on November 19, 2024, beginning with the Galaxy Watch6 series and expanding sequentially to earlier supported generations. Availability could vary by market, carrier, watch model, and paired smartphone. See Samsung’s stable rollout announcement.

What One UI 6 Watch added
One UI 6 Watch brought selected software experiences from newer Samsung watches to supported older models. Key additions included:
- Energy Score: a daily estimate based on factors including sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and sleeping heart-rate variability.
- New watch faces: including Simple Digital and Ultra Info Board.
- Suggested replies: available when the watch is paired with a compatible Galaxy smartphone.
- Double Pinch gestures: for actions such as answering calls, dismissing alarms, and taking photos.
- Updated health, fitness, and interface features adapted from newer Galaxy Watch models.
These features were not guaranteed to work identically on every Watch6. Energy Score and related Galaxy AI functions could require a compatible Samsung Galaxy AI phone, Samsung Health, and a Samsung Account. Health features, sleep-apnea-related functions, watch faces, and AI tools could also vary by country, regulatory approval, phone, app, model, and permissions.

How beta enrollment worked
The following is the historical 2024 procedure. It is not a current way to obtain the beta.
- Update Samsung Members and Galaxy Wearable on the paired Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Sign in to Samsung Members with the Samsung Account associated with the watch.
- Open the beta announcement, banner, or beta card.
- Choose the One UI Watch beta registration option.
- Read and accept the participation terms, then submit the request.
- After enrollment, open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Watch settings, then Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install when the beta appears.
Samsung distributed beta updates gradually, so registration did not necessarily make the download appear immediately. The general enrollment process is documented by Samsung Developers; the watch-specific FAQ is available through Samsung Members.

- Sync your Galaxy Watch with your Galaxy smartphone, Tab, and Buds for a completely connected experience.
Back up before installing beta software
Beta firmware is not equivalent to a routine stable update. Samsung warned that beta software could contain bugs, incomplete features, compatibility problems, unexpected behavior, and possible data loss. Incompatible watch apps or widgets could also stop working correctly.
Before a historical beta installation, you should have:
- A current backup made through Galaxy Wearable.
- Updated versions of Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Members, Samsung Health, and watch apps.
- Your Samsung Account password available.
- Important watch-face layouts, settings, and complications recorded.
- A reliable Wi-Fi connection and a sufficiently charged watch.
- A backup watch or another way to manage alarms, payments, exercise tracking, travel, and communication if the watch fails.
Samsung’s current watch backup guidance also notes that some data may not transfer between older Tizen watches and Wear OS watches. Do not install beta software on a watch you depend on for critical health, work, travel, payment, or emergency functions.
What to do now: install the stable update
For a Galaxy Watch6 or Watch6 Classic, use the official update route:
- Keep the watch near its paired phone and charge it sufficiently.
- Open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install if an official update is offered.
Samsung confirms this menu path in its One UI 6 Watch support guide. If the update is not listed, update Galaxy Wearable and its watch plugins, confirm that the phone has internet access, reconnect the watch, restart both devices, and check again.

- Larger Super AMOLED Display: Expanded screen area with slimmer bezels for improved visibility and usability.
A missing update does not necessarily mean the watch is unsupported. Samsung’s rollout was staged, and availability could differ by country, carrier, model, and paired phone. An imported watch may follow the firmware schedule of its original market rather than the country where it is currently being used.
Why the beta banner may not have appeared
During the beta period, the absence of a Samsung Members banner could have meant:
- The program had ended or reached its enrollment limit.
- The user was outside the United States or South Korea.
- The watch model, regional variant, or carrier configuration was not included.
- Samsung Members was signed in with a different Samsung Account.
- The phone, watch, or Samsung Members app was not updated.
- The beta was being distributed selectively or had not yet reached that account.
LTE ownership alone did not establish eligibility. Samsung named the Watch6 and Watch6 Classic families, but it did not promise identical access for every LTE, carrier, or imported configuration.
Do not sideload firmware from another region because a beta banner is missing. Unofficial flashing can create compatibility problems and recovery complications.
Leaving the beta and recovering from problems
Samsung’s general One UI beta guidance described this withdrawal path:
- Open Samsung Members.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Beta program settings.
- Select Withdraw from beta program.
- Use Smart Switch on a computer to roll back where Samsung’s instructions for that program and device support it.
However, the original One UI Watch-specific FAQ gave more restrictive guidance: returning to the previous official watch software before the beta ended could require a Samsung service center. The process reset the watch, and data created during beta testing could be lost. A Smart Switch rollback method used for a phone beta should not be assumed to work identically on a Galaxy Watch.
If you enrolled but never installed the beta, withdrawing generally allowed you to remain on official software. Once beta firmware had been installed, rollback was destructive and more complicated. Follow the instructions for the exact watch model, region, and beta program rather than attempting an unofficial downgrade.

Who would have benefited from the beta?
Historically, the beta suited owners who wanted early access to new watch faces and interface features, were willing to report bugs, and could tolerate battery, connectivity, app, or health-tracking problems. A qualifying U.S. or South Korean owner with a backup watch was in a safer position than someone relying on a single LTE watch.
It was a poor choice for anyone who needed dependable alarms, payments, sleep tracking, ECG or other health functions, notifications, exercise records, or emergency communication. The potential benefit was early access and an opportunity to provide feedback; the costs included instability, incomplete features, compatibility issues, possible data loss, and a difficult rollback.
Important compatibility limits
Non-Samsung Android phones
Some Galaxy Watch functions may work with compatible non-Samsung Android phones, but beta enrollment and Samsung-specific features should not be assumed to work. The beta process required Samsung Members and a Samsung Account, while several One UI 6 Watch features depended on a compatible Galaxy phone.
LTE Galaxy Watch6 models
An LTE label did not guarantee beta access. Check the exact model and regional software through Samsung’s official channels. Carrier and imported variants could follow different availability schedules.
Watch7 and Watch Ultra features
One UI 6 Watch transferred selected experiences from newer watches. It did not turn a Watch6 into a Watch7 or Watch Ultra, and it did not guarantee that every newer health, AI, sensor-dependent, or regional feature would be available.
Bottom line for Galaxy Watch6 owners
The One UI 6 Watch beta was a real but limited 2024 program, not an enrollment opportunity in 2026. If you own a Galaxy Watch6, use Galaxy Wearable > Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install to check for the official stable software. If no update appears, troubleshoot the connection and app versions, then account for staged distribution, carrier restrictions, regional firmware, and paired-phone compatibility.
