The OnePlus Watch 3 43mm is the better daily-wear watch for smaller wrists, but the original 46mm model remains technically superior. The 43mm is lighter, less top-heavy and easier to wear overnight or under a shirt cuff. In return, you get substantially shorter battery life, a smaller display, fewer health sensors, less rugged-looking construction and—according to third-party specifications—single-band rather than dual-frequency GPS.
Here, “original” means the 46mm OnePlus Watch 3 released earlier in 2025, not the first-generation OnePlus Watch from 2021. The right choice depends mainly on whether comfort or endurance matters more.

The size difference is more than cosmetic
The 43mm model measures approximately 43.2 × 43.2 × 11mm, compared with 46.6 × 47.6 × 11.75mm for the 46mm model, excluding the larger watch’s sensor area. OnePlus says the smaller watch is 0.75mm slimmer.

| Case | 43.2 × 43.2 × 11mm | 46.6 × 47.6 × 11.75mm |
| Body weight | 37.8g without strap | 49.7g without strap |
| Reported strap weight | About 60g total in Android Central’s hands-on testing | About 81g including strap |
| Display | 1.32-inch AMOLED, 466 × 466 | 1.50-inch LTPO AMOLED, 466 × 466 |
| Band width | 18mm | 22mm |
Those measurements translate into a watch that is easier to keep centred on a narrow wrist and less likely to overhang the edges. Android Central also found the 43mm’s supplied strap lies flat, unlike the larger model’s band. That affects perceived bulk as much as the case diameter does.

The crown and lugs can still catch on sleeves, and an approximately 11mm-thick smartwatch is not exceptionally thin. Comfort also depends on wrist shape, strap tension and whether you sleep with a watch. But the smaller footprint and lower weight should be particularly noticeable overnight and during exercise, when a large watch can feel top-heavy or shift around.
This is best understood as a smaller-wrist model, not a women’s model. Wrist size and design preference are more useful buying criteria than gender.

Battery life is the price of going smaller
The 46mm Watch 3’s defining advantage is endurance. OnePlus rates the watches as follows:
| Mode | 43mm claim | 46mm claim |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Mode | Up to 60 hours | Up to five days |
| Heavy use | Up to 36 hours | Up to three days |
| Power Saver | Up to seven days | Up to 16 days |
These are manufacturer scenarios, not guarantees. Always-on display, GPS workouts, calls, frequent app use, third-party watch faces and continuous health monitoring can reduce runtime. Hands-on coverage suggests the 43mm can still manage roughly two or more days for many users, but it is not a several-day watch in the same sense as the 46mm.
That distinction matters in practice. The 43mm is good for a Wear OS watch: you may charge it roughly twice a week, depending on your settings. The 46mm is unusual because it can fit more comfortably into a multi-day charging routine, including extended sleep tracking and GPS use.
Power Saver mode should not be confused with full Wear OS operation. It is intended to preserve core functions such as tracking and basic watch use while restricting apps and other interactive smartwatch features. The 46mm therefore remains the better choice if you dislike charging every two or three days.

The 43mm drops two important health features
The smaller watch is not a feature-equivalent miniature. It lacks the wrist-temperature sensor and vascular-health tracking found on the larger Watch 3. Android Central reported that OnePlus attributed the omissions to missing hardware, so a software update cannot simply restore them.

The 46mm can provide vascular-health features such as arterial-stiffness or vascular-age analysis, along with the 60-second Health Check-In built around multiple health metrics. These are wellness and screening tools, not clinical diagnoses. Treat sleep, blood oxygen, stress-style and vascular measurements as estimates and seek medical care for symptoms or health decisions.
Health features can also vary by country, phone, account and regulatory approval. ECG-related functionality in particular should be checked for the exact market in which you plan to use the watch.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf temperature tracking or vascular-health insights are central to your purchase, choose the 46mm. If you primarily want steps, sleep, workouts and general activity tracking, the 43mm retains the core proposition.
The smaller display is brighter in practice, but less useful for information
Both watches have a 466 × 466 resolution, but the 43mm places it on a 1.32-inch panel rather than the 46mm’s 1.50-inch screen. The smaller screen has higher pixel density and Android Central reported better practical outdoor brightness, but it cannot show as much at once.
- 43mm advantage: sharper-looking graphics at the same resolution and reportedly stronger outdoor visibility.
- 46mm advantage: more room for notification text, maps, workout data, tiles and touch targets.
The difference is most noticeable when reading longer notifications, interacting with a keyboard or checking several workout metrics at a glance. Calling the 43mm display simply “better” would be misleading: it may be easier to see outdoors, while the 46mm is more comfortable for information-dense tasks.
Outdoor users should examine the GPS difference
The 46mm officially supports dual-band L1+L5 GPS alongside major satellite systems including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS. Third-party specification reporting describes the 43mm as using single-band GPS.
Recommended Free Tools
Because the official US 43mm product page does not prominently spell out the GPS-band configuration, this should be treated as a reported hardware difference rather than an unqualified OnePlus-confirmed downgrade. Check the technical sheet for your regional model before buying.
Dual-frequency GPS is most relevant in dense cities, around tall buildings, under tree cover and for runners or cyclists who rely on the watch for route recording. Casual walkers, open-sky runners and people who carry their phone may notice little difference. If route accuracy is a priority, the 46mm is the safer choice.
For context, see the PhoneArena 43mm specifications and OnePlus’s official 46mm specifications.

Materials and durability favour the 46mm
The 46mm combines a stainless-steel case with a titanium bezel and sapphire crystal. OnePlus lists IP68, 5ATM water resistance and MIL-STD-810H testing claims for the larger model.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The 43mm uses a polished stainless-steel case and crown. It looks less rugged and more conventional, but the exact water-resistance and durability specification should be checked on the regional product page before purchase. Neither watch should be treated as indestructible. Water resistance can deteriorate after impact, wear or repair, and IP68 or 5ATM does not automatically make a watch suitable for every water activity, hot tub or high-pressure spray.
Choose the 46mm if sapphire glass, a titanium bezel and an outdoors-oriented build are important. Choose the 43mm if you prefer a dressier watch that attracts less attention on the wrist.
What remains the same
The 43mm retains the main Wear OS experience:
- Wear OS by Google and Google Play apps
- Google Wallet
- Notifications and music controls
- Bluetooth calling
- Google Health Connect support through the OHealth ecosystem
- Snapdragon W5 plus a BES2800-series low-power chip
The dual-chip design lets Wear OS handle full smartwatch functions while the lower-power system manages less demanding tasks. That is why both watches can offer better endurance than many conventional Wear OS models, even though the 43mm has less battery capacity available than the 46mm.
The watch is intended for Android phones. Full functionality depends on the OHealth app, Google services, the phone model and regional support. It is not an Apple Watch alternative for iPhone users.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Remember the band-size change
The 43mm uses standard 18mm bands; the 46mm uses 22mm bands. Existing 46mm straps will not fit the 43mm, and the thinner 18mm ecosystem can change the watch’s appearance substantially.
If you already own a collection of 22mm bands, that is a small but real reason to stay with the larger watch. If the supplied strap is part of what makes the 43mm more comfortable, replacement bands should be chosen carefully: a heavy or rigid strap can undermine the smaller case’s advantage.
Which OnePlus Watch 3 should you buy?
| Buy the 43mm if… | Buy the 46mm if… |
|---|---|
| The 46mm overhangs your wrist or feels top-heavy. | You want the longest battery life. |
| You sleep in your watch and comfort comes first. | You use GPS heavily or want dual-frequency GPS. |
| You prefer a less rugged, more conventional design. | You want the larger screen for maps and workouts. |
| Two-plus days of real-world battery life is enough. | You want temperature and vascular-health hardware. |
| You mainly run in open areas or carry your phone. | You value titanium, sapphire and a more rugged presentation. |
| You want Wear OS without the larger case. | You already own 22mm bands. |
At its US launch in July 2025, the 43mm was reported at $299.99. The 46mm’s US MSRP was reported as $349.99 after a price adjustment in April 2025. Prices can change, so check OnePlus’s current product pages before treating that difference as decisive.
If both models are discounted to similar prices, the physical fit should decide first. A watch that is uncomfortable will not deliver useful sleep or workout data because you will take it off. But if both sizes fit well, the 46mm gives you more battery, a larger display, a broader sensor package and stronger GPS hardware.
