The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 is a 38 mm automatic watch with a blue dial, stainless-steel bracelet and a central date hand. Oris specifies a five-day power reserve, 5-bar water resistance and 19 mm interhorn width for this reference. Those are manufacturer-published details, not firsthand observations: no documented handling or independent performance test supports a conventional “hands-on” review of this watch.
Which Oris Pointer Date Calibre 403 is this?
This article concerns reference 01 403 7776 4065-07 8 19 06: the 38 mm Big Crown Pointer Date with a blue dial and stainless-steel bracelet. Oris also lists other versions, including leather-strap configurations, so specifications and pricing should not be generalized across the entire 38 mm family. See the Oris product page for the selected reference and current regional details.
Oris calls the 38 mm design one of its most versatile models. That is the brand’s description, not an assessment of how it wears on a particular wrist.
How does the pointer date work?
Instead of showing the date in a small aperture, the watch uses a central hand to indicate a numbered date scale around the dial. The Calibre 403 also has a separate small-seconds display at 6 o’clock. Oris says the Big Crown Pointer Date debuted in 1938, with an oversized crown and central date hand as defining features; the brand’s historical account is on its Big Crown Pointer Date page.

How should the five-day reserve and accuracy claims be read?
Oris lists a 120-hour reserve and attributes it to twin barrels with extended mainsprings. The brand also states an accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day and describes that as exceeding chronometer performance. These are manufacturer claims; no independent timing result for an individual watch is established here.

Oris says the Calibre 400 Series uses more than 30 non-ferrous anti-magnetic components. It reports that Laboratoire Dubois testing found Calibre 403 deviation of under 10 seconds per day after exposure to 2,250 gauss. That result is specific to the stated test and is not evidence that the watch is immune to magnetism. The figures and qualifications are described on Oris’s Calibre 403 page.
What strap or bracelet fits?
The specified bracelet version has a 19 mm interhorn width. Oris lists leather, rubber and textile straps for the reference page, but width alone does not confirm that every strap or bracelet end fitting is compatible. Confirm the exact reference and fitting with Oris or an authorized retailer before ordering.

Oris recommends 10-year service intervals for Calibre 400 Series watches. Its movement information also describes a ten-year warranty for 400 Series watches after MyOris registration. The product page for this reference lists a two-year warranty before that free extension. Warranty duration, registration eligibility and terms can vary by region and may change; verify them with Oris locally before relying on an extension.
What this specification-based review can—and cannot—tell you
The sources establish the watch’s listed dimensions, materials, features and Oris’s movement claims. They do not establish comfort, wrist presence, bracelet feel, winding experience, audible operation, real-world timekeeping, achieved power reserve or water performance. No independent comparison or test result is available here. A purchase decision based on those qualities requires an in-person try-on or separately documented testing.
