In Robert-Jan Broer’s January 31, 2014 Fratello review, he wore the watch for a week and found its size suited his tall frame; that personal fit impression is not a universal sizing verdict. The specifications below describe the reference, while condition, authenticity and water resistance must be checked on any individual watch.
What is the Panerai PAM00510?
PAM00510 is the reference for the Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days. PaneraiSource’s reference listing describes a polished-steel case and bezel, black dial, crown protector, sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback and leather strap. It gives the case diameter as 44 mm and the lug width as 24 mm. These are reference specifications from a specialist listing, not a current manufacturer product page. PaneraiSource PAM00510 listing.
The model belongs to the launch-era introduction of Panerai’s P.5000 calibre: WatchTime reported that the movement debuted in the Luminor Marina 8 Days PAM00510 and PAM00511. Phillips’ Spring 2024 auction catalog also describes a PAM00510 as a 2013-released, 44 mm steel watch with an eight-day P.5000 reserve and 300 m rating. These references provide historical context, not evidence of current production or availability. WatchTime launch-era coverage; Phillips Spring 2024 catalog.

How the eight-day P.5000 works
The P.5000 is a manually wound movement with two barrels. Panerai’s Luminor 8 Days instructions describe an eight-day reserve and give winding directions for the watch covered by that manual: raise the crown-protector lever, turn the crown clockwise until it stops, then close the lever. The manual states, “When the crown stops, the watch is fully wound.” Confirm that the instructions match the specific watch before using them, particularly if its configuration or service history is uncertain.
Broer noted that his PAM00510 had no power-reserve indicator. He described his own routine as winding a watch before wearing it, rather than relying on an indicator to track the reserve. That is an observation about his reviewed example and habit, not a claim that every owner must follow the same schedule.

What the 2014 hands-on review found
Broer’s review was published by Fratello on January 31, 2014, after he wore the watch for a week. He liked the familiar Luminor Marina combination of a large case and luminous markers, and appreciated the P.5000’s long reserve in a hand-wound watch. He also praised the movement’s appearance and the small-seconds display. These are the reviewer’s impressions from that period, not findings from a current examination. Fratello’s PAM00510 review.
Fit: a substantial 44 mm watch
At 44 mm across, the PAM00510 is a large watch by case diameter, so wrist fit deserves attention before purchase. The available material does not provide standardized wrist measurements or an independent fit comparison. Broer said the 44 mm case worked for his tall build; that personal preference cannot establish how it will wear on another wrist. If possible, assess the specific watch on your wrist, including how its case and crown protector sit, rather than relying on diameter alone.

Straps and wearing near water
Broer described the supplied calf strap as thick-looking but soft and comfortable. He also recommended a textile or rubber strap rather than alligator for wearing the watch in or near water. That was his advice in 2014, not current Panerai policy or a guarantee that any strap is safe for immersion. The manual lists leather, alligator and rubber strap types, but neither a strap listing nor a 300 m case rating establishes the condition of an aged or replacement strap—or the water resistance of a particular watch.
The listing’s 24 mm lug width gives a useful starting point when looking for an alternative, such as a “24 mm watch strap for Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00510.” Confirm the attachment system and the actual watch’s configuration before buying; width alone does not establish compatibility.

Price and availability: what the evidence does—and does not—show
Fratello reported an official retail price of €6,100 including 21% VAT in its January 31, 2014 review. This is a historical price only. The available sources do not establish PAM00510’s current official price, whether it remains in production, current retail inventory or present second-hand value.
Panerai’s current page for the distinct PAM00915 describes a 44 mm steel Luminor 8 Giorni with a P.5000 and an eight-day reserve. It is related-model context, not proof that PAM00510 is still sold or that the two references are interchangeable. Panerai PAM00915 product page.

Specifications for the reference cannot verify the state of an individual watch. Before buying, establish the example’s identity, condition and service documentation with a qualified seller or watchmaker. In particular, do not treat the published 300 m rating as confirmation that a particular watch is currently safe for water use.
- Confirm the reference and the watch’s configuration; check that any manual or operating instructions match it.
- Review authenticity, originality, visible condition and available service history for that specific example.
- Ask for a current water-resistance assessment if water use matters; a reference listing or auction description is not a test of the watch in front of you.
- Inspect the strap and attachment compatibility separately, especially if replacing the original strap.
Verdict
The PAM00510’s appeal is straightforward: a large, recognizable Luminor Marina design paired with a hand-wound movement offering an eight-day reserve. The trade-offs to weigh are its 44 mm case and the practical need to wind it. Broer’s 2014 week-long review adds favorable personal impressions of the fit on his tall frame, movement and strap, but does not settle fit for other wrists or the condition of a watch offered today. For a pre-owned example, the individual watch’s authentication, service record and tested water resistance matter more than the reference’s published specifications.
