Google’s current Pixel Watch changes are three separate developments, not one combined “scrolling fix.” Adaptive Charging is documented for Pixel Watch 4 only; Find Hub lets the watch help locate nearby or out-of-range devices; and Google’s support guidance offers general remedies for laggy or unresponsive interaction, but does not confirm a named scrolling patch.
What is actually new on Pixel Watch?
- Adaptive Charging: Google’s current support documentation lists it for Pixel Watch 4. It is intended to reduce the time the battery remains fully charged.
- Find Hub: The wrist-based finding experience can ring a nearby device over Bluetooth or provide a location and map directions when the device is out of range, subject to connectivity and account conditions. Google’s current branding is Find Hub, although many users still search for “Find My Device.”
- Scrolling complaints: No specific, officially documented scrolling fix was confirmed. Slow or missed scrolling can have several software, app, orientation, moisture, or hardware causes.
These features can vary by watch model, phone, region, account, and Wear OS or app version.
Adaptive Charging on Pixel Watch 4
How to turn it on
- Swipe down on the watch face.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery.
- Turn on Adaptive charging.
Google describes Adaptive Charging as a battery-health feature that manages charging so the watch spends less time at a full charge. It is not documented as a faster-charging mode and does not guarantee a longer runtime on each charge.
Adaptive Charging versus Battery Defender
| Feature | Purpose and behavior | Availability in Google’s current documentation |
|---|---|---|
| Adaptive Charging | Manages charging behavior to reduce extended time at full charge. | Pixel Watch 4 only |
| Battery Defender | Pauses charging when Google says the watch has remained on its charger for four days or longer. | Behavior documented on Google’s charging help page |
You may not see an obvious change immediately. The watch needs a sufficiently long charging period for management behavior to matter, and a watch removed soon after reaching a high charge may appear to charge normally.

Find Hub: find a phone or essential from your wrist
When the device is nearby
With a Bluetooth connection between the phone and watch, Find Hub can trigger a sound on a nearby device. This is useful when the phone is in another room, under furniture, or inside a bag but still within Bluetooth range.
When the device is out of Bluetooth range
Google says the watch can show the device’s location and map directions when it is out of range. The result depends on the device’s connectivity, location settings, Google account configuration, and the Find Hub network. The watch is not guaranteed to independently locate a powered-off, disconnected, or improperly configured device.

Is there an official Pixel Watch scrolling fix?
Google’s available support material does not identify a named scrolling bug or confirm that a particular Wear OS, Pixel Watch app, or Google Play system update fixed one. Treat reports of laggy scrolling as a symptom rather than proof of a single widespread defect.

- The Google Pixel Watch Quick Charge Dock is Google’s fastest charger yet[1]
- It’s 25% faster than previous generations, giving you a full day of charge in only 30 minutes[2]
- All-new design lets your watch charge while docked on its side – making it easier than ever to power up while you’re getting ready in the morning or charging between meetings
- Only compatible with the Google Pixel Watch 4 (41mm and 45mm, sold separately)[3]
- Requires a USB-C compatible power adapter, minimum 7.5W (not included)[2]
Useful distinctions can narrow the cause:
- If the crown scrolls but touch does not, the touchscreen, moisture, protector, or touch configuration deserves attention.
- If touch works in Settings but not one app, update or reinstall that app instead of resetting the watch.
- If gestures fail while ordinary touch works, the issue may involve gesture behavior rather than scrolling performance.
- If the problem appears after exercise, charging, or exposure to water, dry and clean the screen before testing again.
Troubleshoot laggy or unresponsive scrolling in order
1. Dry, clean, and test the screen
Dry your fingers and the display, remove sweat or residue, and temporarily remove a case or screen protector that may interfere with touch. Test scrolling in Settings, notifications, and another built-in screen to determine whether the issue is system-wide or app-specific.
2. Restart the watch
- Press and hold the crown for about three seconds.
- Scroll down and tap Restart.
This is Google’s first-line remedy for many temporary freezes. The official steps are in Google’s frozen-screen guidance.
3. Update system software and apps
- On the watch, open Settings → System → System updates.
- Open Play Store → Manage apps → Update all to update watch apps.
- Update the Google Pixel Watch phone app, then restart both phone and watch.
Google lists these update paths at its Pixel Watch update help page.

- The magnetic 5W USB-C[R] Fast Charging Cable charger is compatible with the Google Pixel Watch 2 and Google Pixel Watch 3 (41mm and 45mm)
- Google Pixel Watch sold separately
- Features magnetic pins that snap into your watch for a more secure charging connection[1]
- Requires a USB-C PD compatible power adapter, minimum 5W (sold separately)
- Cable length is 1 meter
4. Check wrist orientation
An incorrect crown or wrist position can make controls feel reversed or unintuitive. On the watch, go to Settings → Display → Wrist orientation. You can also change it in Google Pixel Watch app → Watch preferences → Watch orientation. Choose the correct wrist and crown position, then save. See Google’s orientation instructions.
5. Reduce possible performance pressure
Temporarily remove unnecessary complications or third-party watch faces, close or uninstall a recently problematic app, and test again. If only one application lags, focus on that application rather than wiping the watch.
6. Hard-reset only when the screen is frozen
Press and hold the crown and side button for approximately 35 seconds, or until the Google “G” logo appears. Google notes that it may take longer. Use this when normal restart controls cannot be reached.

When to contact Google
- Touch fails across Settings, notifications, and other built-in screens after restart and updates.
- The watch remains unresponsive after the hard-reset procedure.
- The correct, clean, dry charger does not charge the watch or it will not retain charge.
- You see display damage, unusual heat, or other physical failure signs.
Use Google Pixel Watch support for country-specific service and repair options.
Bottom line
Adaptive Charging is currently a Pixel Watch 4 battery-preservation setting, while Battery Defender is a separate long-duration charging safeguard. Find Hub brings practical nearby ringing and remote location directions to the wrist, but each mode has different Bluetooth, internet, account, and location requirements. For scrolling trouble, dry and test the screen, isolate the affected app, restart and update the watch, verify orientation, and reserve a factory reset for persistent failures because no specific official scrolling patch has been established.
