Polar announced the screen-free POLAR Loop Armband on October 7, 2026, alongside a reversible magnetic silicone band and a vegetable-tanned leather band. Two 2026 firmware releases also addressed battery drain, Bluetooth discovery, crashes, factory-reset behavior and optical heart-rate accuracy.
What Polar announced on October 7, 2026
The POLAR Loop Armband is a soft, elastic textile accessory that relocates the Loop from the wrist to the upper arm. Polar says the position is intended to keep the sensor stable during high-intensity training while leaving the wrist free for lifting, gripping and other sports movements. The company specifically cites weight training, tennis, padel and HIIT as use cases.

The armband is compatible with POLAR Loop and is stated to be available globally through polar.com and select retail partners. Polar has not published sizing, regional pricing or independent performance testing in the announcement, so buyers should verify the available size and seller before ordering.

Polar Product Business Manager Sanna Meriö said users had been asking for an armband option and that training was a major reason. Polar also says the upper-arm placement is designed to provide reliable heart-rate data during demanding movement; the available announcement is a manufacturer claim, not an independent accuracy test.

New Polar Loop wristbands
Polar introduced two separately sold wristband styles, both compatible with POLAR Loop.
Reversible magnetic silicone band
This band uses silicone and a reversible design with a magnetic closure. It is the option aimed at users who want a quicker, more adjustable change between sides or looks while retaining a sport-oriented material.

Vegetable-tanned leather band
The leather option uses vegetable-tanned leather for a more traditional watch-band appearance. It is intended for wrist wear rather than the upper-arm position and is sold separately from the Loop device.
The original launch accessory was an additional wristband priced at USD 29.90. Polar’s October announcement does not establish prices for the new magnetic silicone or leather models, so current regional pricing should be checked at the point of purchase.

Firmware 6.1.19: connectivity and battery fixes
Polar released firmware 6.1.19 on June 29, 2026. The update moved the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) stack to version 6.2 and addressed several reliability problems:
- Battery-drain behavior
- Sleep sessions ending incorrectly
- Bluetooth discovery problems
- Startup failures
- Crash conditions
These changes matter most if a Loop was losing charge unexpectedly, disappearing during Bluetooth pairing or failing during boot. The release notes describe fixes rather than a new battery-capacity rating; the device’s launch specification remains up to eight days of battery life under Polar’s stated conditions.

Firmware 6.2.26: heart-rate and stability improvements
Firmware 6.2.26 followed on September 9, 2026. Polar says it improved optical heart-rate accuracy across diverse skin characteristics and fixed unexpected factory-reset and crash conditions.

The accuracy statement is from Polar’s release information. The available material does not provide an independent test protocol, numerical error range or comparison with another wearable, so it should be read as a software-update claim rather than a measured guarantee for every user or activity.

How the updates fit the Loop’s hardware
Polar Loop launched on September 3, 2025 as a screen-free, subscription-free wearable. Polar listed up to eight days of battery life and up to four weeks of stored memory at launch. Pre-orders opened on launch day, with shipments beginning September 10, 2025. The launch price was USD 199.90, while an additional wristband was listed at USD 29.90.
Because the Loop has no screen, setup, synchronization and review of recorded data depend on its connected software experience. That makes Bluetooth discovery, startup behavior and crash stability especially consequential: a hardware sensor can record data, but unreliable connection or resets can interrupt access to it.
Which accessory should you choose?
- Choose the POLAR Loop Armband if your main problem is wrist movement or obstruction during lifting, gripping, racket sports or HIIT.
- Choose the magnetic silicone band if you want a reversible, sport-oriented wristband with magnetic fastening.
- Choose the leather band if you want a more conventional watch appearance for everyday wrist wear.
- Keep the original textile wristband if standard wrist wear already suits your training and daily routine.
All three accessory categories are documented as compatible with POLAR Loop, but the armband and wristbands serve different wear locations and use cases. Confirm inventory, sizing and regional price with Polar or an authorized retailer because availability can vary.
What is established—and what is not
Polar has confirmed the armband’s compatibility, the two new wristband constructions and the specific fixes in firmware 6.1.19 and 6.2.26. The announcements do not establish long-term comfort results, current marketplace inventory, independent heart-rate validation, or comparative performance against other wearables. Those questions require separate testing.
