Most of these specifications come from Xiaomi’s official specification page. One launch report listed the display as 401 × 502 pixels, but Xiaomi’s official page lists 410 × 502 pixels; the official figure is the more reliable specification.
Large square AMOLED display
The watch has a 1.96-inch square AMOLED panel rather than a conventional narrow rectangular fitness-band screen. AMOLED provides individually lit pixels, so it can deliver stronger contrast and deeper blacks than an LCD at this price. Xiaomi also lists a 410 × 502 resolution and 332ppi pixel density. Launch coverage reported brightness of up to 600 nits, along with an always-on display option and palm-touch-to-sleep support.
“Tall AMOLED” is a useful marketing description, but “large square AMOLED display” is more precise. Its size should make notifications, workout data and watch faces easier to read than on a small band, although always-on mode and frequent screen activation will affect battery life.

Design, weight and build
The Redmi Watch 5 Lite weighs 29.2g without its strap and measures 48.1 × 39.2 × 10.6mm. Xiaomi specifies a plastic body with an NCVM finish and a TPU strap. That keeps the watch light and affordable, but it is not intended to provide the metal-bodied feel of pricier smartwatches. The supplied strap fits wrists of approximately 135–205mm.
Black and Light Gold are the listed colour options. The Light Gold version may be the better fit for buyers who want a less utilitarian appearance, while Black is the more understated choice.
Built-in GPS: what it can and cannot do
The watch has built-in GNSS, supporting GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS. This means it can record an outdoor workout route without relying entirely on the phone’s location sensor—a meaningful advantage over cheaper watches that need phone-assisted tracking.

It is still not possible to infer professional-grade accuracy from the presence of these satellite systems alone. For the best chance of a quick position lock, begin a GPS workout outdoors with a reasonably unobstructed view of the sky. Acquisition can take longer indoors or near tall buildings.

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite supports Bluetooth calling and includes a speaker, but it is not an LTE or eSIM watch. Calls are routed through a compatible paired smartphone, so the phone must remain nearby and connected. Range, Bluetooth stability, phone permissions and the phone’s connection to other audio devices can affect call performance.
This makes the feature useful for short calls while the phone is in a pocket or nearby, but it does not turn the watch into an independent phone.
Health and fitness tracking
The watch includes heart-rate and blood-oxygen sensors, an accelerometer and a gyroscope. It supports sleep, step and calorie tracking, and Xiaomi advertises more than 150 sports modes. Built-in GNSS is useful for outdoor walking, running and similar activities.
These are wellness and activity features, not medical diagnostics. The published specifications do not establish ECG, blood-pressure monitoring, fall detection or medical-grade accuracy. What “up to 18 days” of battery life means
Xiaomi lists a 470mAh battery and claims up to 18 days under typical use. That is a manufacturer-defined estimate, not a guaranteed runtime for every owner. A retailer listing has separately described approximately 12 days with Bluetooth calling enabled, but that figure should not be treated as Xiaomi’s universal test result.
Expect endurance to fall when using:
- Always-on display and high brightness
- Frequent screen-wake gestures
- Repeated or extended GPS workouts
- Bluetooth calls
- Frequent notifications
- Continuous heart-rate or blood-oxygen monitoring
A newly updated watch can also temporarily use more power while synchronising. If battery drain is unexpectedly severe, review these settings, update or reopen the companion app, restart the watch and phone, and check whether repeated GPS or calling sessions are responsible before assuming the battery is defective.
5ATM water resistance: practical limits
The Redmi Watch 5 Lite carries a 5ATM water-resistance rating, as confirmed in the user manual. This is suitable for ordinary surface-water exposure and swimming-related use where Xiaomi’s instructions permit it.
5ATM is not universal waterproofing. Avoid scuba diving, high-pressure water, hot showers, saunas, steam and harsh liquids such as soaps or chemicals. Water resistance can weaken after impact, ageing, repairs or seal damage.
Software and compatibility
The watch runs Xiaomi HyperOS rather than Wear OS or watchOS. It is designed around notifications, activity tracking, alarms, watch faces, workouts and basic watch utilities rather than a large third-party app ecosystem. Launch coverage also listed Amazon Alexa among its features, although software availability can vary by region and configuration.

Xiaomi lists compatibility with Android 8.0 or later and iOS 12 or later, using Bluetooth 5.3. Check the current companion-app requirements before purchase because app versions and supported phone software can change independently of the watch hardware.

Common problems and fixes
GPS takes too long to connect
Move outdoors, avoid starting the workout indoors or between tall buildings, and give the watch time to acquire satellites. Do not assume a fixed acquisition time without testing under specific conditions.
Bluetooth calls do not work
- Confirm that the watch is connected in the Xiaomi companion app.
- Check Bluetooth, call and audio permissions on the phone.
- Reopen or update the companion app.
