Gear Patrol reports a November 2026 launch at CHF 45,000, while Ressence’s official product page lists the watch at €60,000. Those are different currencies and may reflect different market or tax conventions.
What the Type 10 DN is
The Type 10 DN is a mechanical GMT built around Ressence’s ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) display rather than conventional hands. Hours, minutes, a second time zone and running seconds appear on rotating graphic satellites. The watch’s dark-blue “Dark Night” treatment extends across its DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium case, dial, integrated rubber strap and domed sapphire crystal.

Ressence designer Benoît Mintiens describes the design goal as a single, seamless object: “Almost as if you took a piece of material and carved the watch out of it.” The caseback reveals the movement through a donut-shaped sapphire window, while the case uses Ressence’s Compression Lock System.
How the oil-filled display works
The Type 10 DN is the first Ressence watch to combine an in-house movement with an oil-filled dial. Its architecture is divided into two sealed chambers:

- Lower chamber: the air-filled RW-04 automatic movement.
- Upper chamber: the oil-filled ROCS 10 display module.
- Barrier: a 0.1 mm titanium membrane separating the chambers.
- Transmission: micro-magnets transfer motion across the membrane, so the movement and display never physically touch.
Filling the display with oil makes the dial appear unusually deep and transparent while preserving the rotating satellite concept. The oil-temperature indicator remains green in its normal operating range and turns red at extreme temperatures. Gear Patrol reports testing from 23°F to 140°F. The running-seconds indicator also serves as a shock absorber for the magnetic transmission.
Display and timekeeping functions
Instead of reading fixed hands against stationary indexes, the wearer reads the positions of rotating discs. The system shows:

This is a functional GMT, but its legibility depends on learning the orbital layout. It is best understood as a mechanical information display rather than a conventional dial with decorative hand replacements.

RW-04 movement and specifications
The in-house RW-04 automatic movement contains 252 components and provides a 60-hour power reserve. Including the ROCS 10 module, the complete watch contains 538 components, of which 196 belong to the display module.

Case, materials and wearing experience
At 41.5 mm and 82 grams, the titanium case aims to deliver substantial wrist presence without the mass of a comparable steel watch. The monochromatic blue treatment covers the case, strap and crystal, creating the “Dark Night” identity rather than a two-tone or polished-metal contrast.
The 5 ATM rating supports everyday splash resistance but should not be interpreted as a specification for serious diving. The oil-filled upper chamber, domed sapphire crystal and Compression Lock System are central to the watch’s construction; they are not detachable display accessories.

Launch, price and availability
Gear Patrol reports that Ressence unveiled the Type 10 DN on October 16, 2026, at WatchTime New York, with sales planned from November. Its report gives a CHF 45,000 price and converts that figure to approximately $54,000. Ressence’s official page lists €60,000. Because the figures use different currencies and may include different regional tax or pricing conventions, buyers should confirm the applicable price with Ressence for their market.

Why this version matters
The Type 10 DN brings together three unusual choices in one watch: an in-house automatic calibre, an oil-filled display chamber and a magnetic, non-contact drive for the ROCS satellites. Earlier futuristic watches may use one or two of those ideas, but this model makes the display architecture and movement integration the central proposition.
Its appeal is therefore not simply rarity or color. The watch changes how mechanical time is represented, while retaining a 60-hour automatic movement, a practical second-time-zone indication and a wearable titanium case. The trade-off is equally clear: the price is at the highest end of independent watchmaking, water resistance is limited to 5 ATM, and reading the orbital display requires familiarity that a two-hand dial does not.
