Its main distinction is the way the wearer selects a time zone. Rather than using a separate adjusting push-piece, the watch uses its rotating city bezel to coordinate the selected city with a 24-hour world-time indication. Richard Mille says this bezel operation makes adjustment quicker than using a push-piece; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent comparative test.

A city bezel instead of a separate time-zone control
The city names are not simply decorative markings: rotating the bezel selects the reference city for the world-time display. That puts the operation on the exterior of the watch and avoids the separate time-zone push-piece described by Richard Mille.

The RM 58-01 brings together two complications: a display intended to show time across 24 city zones and a tourbillon at 9 o’clock. The brand’s published specifications also call out its 10-day reserve and 3 Hz frequency.
Case size and construction
At 50 mm across and 15.35 mm high in the cited secondary descriptions, this is a substantial watch. Those case dimensions should not be confused with Richard Mille’s 34 mm calibre diameter. The case combines titanium and red gold; Christie’s identifies the gold as 18K in its description of a particular example.

What do the Jean Todt and auction records establish?
Christie’s documents a specific watch as reference RM58-01 AN RG, numbered 14/35 and dated circa 2019 in its lot description. That is evidence for one identified example, not a separate production total or a current market valuation. Christie’s also disclosed that the lot had a minimum price guarantee and that it had a direct financial interest in the lot.
Fratello Watches reported in 2013 that proceeds from the sale were to be transferred to the Global Campaign for Road Safety and the ICM Brain and Spine Institute. That charitable-proceeds statement is attributable to Fratello’s contemporaneous coverage.
