The MING 19.02 is a discontinued, 39 mm titanium worldtimer distinguished by its layered sapphire dial, rotating 24-hour city display and rose-gold-coated microrotor movement. Its key travel compromise is practical: the local hour hand cannot be jumped independently, so changing time zones requires adjusting the time as a whole. MING says the model is sold out, all deliveries are complete and it will not be produced again.
What makes the MING 19.02 distinctive?
Launched in 2019, the 19.02 pairs a compact grade 5 titanium case with a sapphire display that gives the city ring and movement unusual visual depth. Rather than printing the city names on a rotating ring, MING places them beneath the sapphire dial; a titanium 24-hour disc turns below them to indicate world time. MING says it chose city names instead of airport codes for quick recognition, and included Kuala Lumpur as a reference to the brand’s home.
The dial has an opaque black center and transparent gradient edges. Markings are printed on the underside of the sapphire, creating a layered appearance while keeping the city names fixed as the time-zone disc moves. MING’s design journal describes the 19.02 as a warmer, more romantic counterpart to the 19.01, using the gradient to reveal the movement’s rose-gold baseplate. MING’s design journal
The Schwarz-Etienne for MING ASE220.1 microrotor movement is visible through the back. Its partially skeletonized bridges are matte-blasted and coated in 5N rose gold, with hand-polished anglage. The finishing and the interplay of black sapphire and warm metal are central to the watch’s character.

- Wandering Hour Display: A Minimalist approach beyond convention, with hours drifting in continuous motion alongside the minutes. At the dial’s centre, a singular wandering assembly traces minutes; along its path, an hour disc rotates calmly, read against a fixed marker.
- Self-Developed Caliber CD-08: Based on the Japanese Miyota 9000-series automatic base, with 24 jewels supporting stable, consistent performance.Built upon the renowned Mivota 9000 series-42-hour reserve 28,800 vph, 24 jewels-this customized automatic is designatec CD-08.
- Super Black Dial: Absorbing 99.3% of light, the dial lets motion emerge from darkness without distraction. Raised minute indices, finely CNC-engraved, encircle the shadow, catching light and framing the motion.
- Sculpted 316L Steel Case: A layered case design combining polished and sandblasted surfaces for refined contrast. Slim and fluid at 11.8 mm, designed to rest close and composed on the wrist. Swiss Super-LumiNova enhances a distinct nighttime presence.

How does its world-time display work?
The city names are stationary beneath the sapphire dial. The rotating titanium 24-hour disc supplies the moving reference: read the hour against the relevant city to see that time zone’s time. The layout keeps city labels in consistent positions, rather than requiring the wearer to follow a rotating ring of labels.
The mechanism is integrated into the movement, but it does not offer the independent local-hour jump found on some travel watches. Monochrome’s 2019 review reports that the hour hand cannot be advanced or set back separately when arriving in a new time zone; the wearer must adjust the time together. That is a usability tradeoff, not evidence of a mechanical defect. Travelers who change local time frequently should weigh it against the display’s distinctive construction.

The thickness figures differ slightly by source: MING’s archive gives 11.2 mm, while the GPHG model record gives 11.3 mm. The reserve is likewise expressed as approximately 70 hours by MING and Monochrome, versus 72 hours in the GPHG record. These are source-record differences, not a basis for assuming a different watch specification.
On-wrist comfort and everyday use
Monochrome’s reviewer described the watch as comfortable on the wrist and attributed much of its 11.2 mm height to the deep box sapphire crystals. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of fit for every wrist. The case is 39 mm across, and the lugs take 20 mm straps.

The movement has no power-reserve indicator. MING says the skeletonized barrel cover lets the wearer assess the state of wind visually, but it is not a numerical reserve display. The stated 50 m water resistance is a specification; it does not by itself establish suitability for every kind of water activity.

The 19.02 is not currently offered as a new-production watch. MING’s archive marks it sold out, says deliveries are complete and states that it will not be produced again. That establishes the model’s production status, not the availability or condition of individual pre-owned examples.

The 19.02 is most compelling for someone drawn to a distinctive sapphire construction, a compact titanium case and highly finished movement architecture, and who values a fixed, legible city ring. Its world-time display has an unusual visual logic, but the inability to jump the local hour independently makes it less convenient for a traveler who wants a fast local-time change without resetting the rest of the display.
When comparing it with another worldtimer, focus on the time-setting method, case dimensions, city selection and legibility, movement winding and reserve, water resistance, materials and finishing, and whether the watch is actually available at a price you are willing to pay. The 19.02’s CHF launch figures are historical; a current market valuation is not established here.
