Roger Dubuis’s Hommage La Placide, reference RDDBHO0612, is a 28-piece anniversary edition built around an automatic perpetual calendar with a biretrograde display. The brand lists a 38 mm 18K pink-gold case, 48-hour power reserve and 3-bar water resistance. Available documentation describes the watch but does not establish hands-on impressions, current pricing or availability.
What is the Hommage La Placide?
Roger Dubuis presents the Hommage La Placide as a 30th-anniversary creation for its Hommage collection, which the brand says began in 1996. The Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie also identifies it as a limited edition of 28 pieces. Its reference is RDDBHO0612. Roger Dubuis’s product page and the Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie overview provide the published model information.
The available material is product documentation and an institutional overview, not a hands-on review. It cannot establish how the watch wears, how legible its indications are in use, its accuracy, service experience, current stock or market price.
How does the biretrograde perpetual calendar work?
The calendar presents day, date, month, leap year and moon phase in what the manufacturer describes as a signature biretrograde display. In a retrograde indication, a hand moves along an arc through its cycle and returns to zero when that cycle ends. Roger Dubuis describes this arc-and-return action for the display; its page does not provide an independent, component-by-component account of which indications use a retrograde hand.

The mechanism is the RD1472 automatic movement, which the brand describes as combining its RD14 calibre with the RD72 calendar module. According to Roger Dubuis, original RD72 components were remanufactured for this edition in accordance with a 1989 patent co-signed by watchmaker Roger Dubuis and designer Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. The manufacturer says the RD72 module launched in 1999 and the RD14, its first in-house automatic calibre, in 2004.
