Fratello reported a US$369 price in January 2023; that is historical, not a current quote.
What changed in the 39 mm RZE Valour Chronograph?
The 2023 second-generation Valour reduced the case diameter from 42 mm to 39 mm while keeping the 47 mm lug-to-lug length, according to Dave Sergeant’s Fratello review, published January 16, 2023. Sergeant said the smaller version looked more refined. The redesign also moved the tachymeter scale from the external bezel to the chapter ring; he described the change as enabling the reduced diameter.
The distinction matters when comparing listings: the 2021 launch specifications refer to the original generation, not automatically to every later version or colorway. RZE’s official Valour overview and Valour specifications describe the current collection, but check the exact configuration before assuming every detail applies to a particular watch.

RZE’s May 31, 2021 launch announcement gives the original model’s specifications, including its 12.5 mm thickness and 49 mm lug-to-lug. Those figures should not be used as confirmed measurements for the redesign.

What kind of chronograph movement does it use?
The Valour uses the SII VK64 meca-quartz movement. It is neither automatic nor fully mechanical: quartz timekeeping is combined with a mechanical-style chronograph mechanism. In Sergeant’s account, the central chronograph seconds hand sweeps when the stopwatch is running, while the small running-seconds hand at 6 o’clock ticks. That visual distinction gives the chronograph a more mechanical feel without making the watch a mechanical timekeeper.
How do the case, dial and water resistance shape its use?
RZE specifies a solid titanium case, sapphire crystal with inner-side Super-AR coating, screw-down crown, and 200 m / 20 ATM water resistance for the Valour collection. The brand’s official specifications also list a sand-textured dial, applied indexes, Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9, and FKM rubber strap, with an optional titanium bracelet. Verify the version and color you are considering, since collection-level specifications may not describe every configuration identically.

What ULTRAHex does—and does not—promise
RZE says the original Grade 2 titanium case used ULTRAHex coating with hardness of up to approximately 1200 Hv. That is a manufacturer claim, not independent proof that the watch cannot be scratched. Don Evans, reviewing the original generation for WatchReport on July 2, 2021, specifically cautioned that hard coatings are not literally scratchproof. A coating may help resist wear, but it should not be treated as immunity from damage.
Will the 39 mm Valour fit your wrist?
Diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears; the 47 mm lug-to-lug is also useful when comparing it with a watch you already own. The redesign’s stated 39 mm diameter and 47 mm length make it meaningfully smaller than the original 42 mm by 49 mm version. Sergeant regarded the updated proportions as more refined, but wrist comfort remains personal.

The reviewed second-generation watch has a 20 mm lug width. Sergeant found its supplied FKM rubber strap comfortable but generic, and noted that a replacement strap in the same width can fit. Swapping straps is optional, not a prerequisite for wearing the watch. Check the specific strap’s end shape and hardware before ordering; nominal lug width alone does not guarantee that every strap will look or fit exactly as intended.
What did reviewers say about the original model?
WatchReport’s Don Evans reviewed the original 42 mm generation in 2021. He described it as comfortable on his 7.5-inch wrist, but said the small subdials were difficult to read at a glance. These are his observations about the original watch, not a universal fit judgment or a confirmed critique of the 39 mm redesign.

Is the RZE Valour Chronograph worth considering?
It makes the most sense for someone who wants a titanium chronograph with substantial stated water resistance and prefers quartz practicality to an automatic or fully mechanical movement. The 39 mm redesign is the relevant version for buyers seeking the smaller case; those who want a more conventional mechanical chronograph should look elsewhere. Before choosing, compare the actual generation and configuration, confirm fit from the lug-to-lug measurement, and consider whether the subdial layout is legible enough for your needs.
Fratello reported US$369 in its January 2023 review, while WatchReport reported the same price at the original model’s 2021 launch. Neither establishes today’s price or availability. Check RZE or an authorized seller for a current, region-specific quote, including any applicable taxes, shipping and import charges.

Sergeant noted a stylistic resemblance to the Zenith Chronomaster Revival A384, while making clear that the RZE is not a like-for-like copy. RZE’s own 2021 launch announcement says the design drew inspiration from Italian wedge-shaped supercars of the 1970s and ’80s. Founder Travis Tan described the brand’s rationale this way: “We noticed a lot of meca-quartz watches on the market, but we saw a gap for one with a titanium case. Our focus has always been on crafting titanium goods due to its lightweight and durability, so we decided to do something different with a meca-quartz chronograph.”
