What the Galaxy Ring does
The Galaxy Ring has no display. Instead, its sensors collect data while the ring is worn, and the Samsung Health app turns that information into activity, sleep and wellness views on a connected Android phone.
Samsung describes the ring as having three built-in sensors. Its health-focused functions include:
- Sleep tracking and sleep-related insights;
- Activity and movement tracking;
- Heart-rate-related wellness measurements;
- Skin-temperature sensing; and
- Samsung Health summaries and predictive insights based on synchronized data.
The ring is intended to complement a phone and, in Samsung’s ecosystem, a Galaxy Watch. Samsung says Ring and Watch data can work together in Samsung Health, with the devices contributing combined health information and insights. The exact behavior depends on the phone, watch model, app version, Samsung account, region and enabled settings; the ring should not be treated as a replacement for every smartwatch function.

Design, colors and weight
The Galaxy Ring uses a titanium frame and comes in three finishes:
- Titanium Black;
- Titanium Silver; and
- Titanium Gold.
Samsung lists approximate weights from about 2.3 grams in size 5 to about 3 grams in size 13. Weight varies by ring size, so the largest and smallest versions are not identical. Samsung describes the exterior as designed for everyday wear and scratch resistance, but that is not the same as a guarantee that the finish will remain mark-free under all use.
As a screen-free device, the ring avoids the notifications, display and charging demands of a smartwatch. The trade-off is that the ring itself does not provide an on-device screen for checking metrics or interacting with apps. Most interpretation and setup happen through Samsung Health on the paired phone.

Battery life and charging
Samsung rates the Galaxy Ring for up to six days in smaller sizes and up to seven days in larger sizes. Those are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results. Actual endurance can vary with ring size, sensor use, connection behavior, software, settings and battery condition. Samsung repeats the size-dependent battery claim in its launch and current U.S. product information.
The box includes:
- The Galaxy Ring;
- A charging case; and
- A USB cable.
The case supports USB-C wired charging and wireless charging. That means a separate wireless charger is optional: it may be useful if you want a second charging location, but it is not required to operate the ring. Before buying an accessory, verify that the charger is compatible with the case and that its size and charging behavior suit your setup.
Water resistance and durability
Samsung rates the Galaxy Ring at 10ATM water resistance under ISO 22810 and IP68. Samsung’s product notes describe 10ATM as corresponding to pressure equivalent to up to 100 meters for up to 10 minutes, and IP68 as up to six feet of water for up to 30 minutes, under stated test conditions. These ratings are laboratory classifications, not a blanket recommendation for diving, high-pressure water or every swimming situation.
After exposure to water, sweat, soap, salt or other residue, Samsung advises users to rinse and dry the ring. Water resistance can also be affected by wear, damage and aging. Treat the ratings as protection against specified exposure—not permission to use the ring for scuba diving or around pressure washers.
Phone compatibility: the biggest buying qualification
The Galaxy Ring is an Android/Samsung ecosystem product, not a general-purpose ring for every phone. Samsung’s cited launch documentation specifies Android 11.0 or later and at least 1.5GB of phone memory for pairing in the relevant regional materials. Compatibility and feature requirements can vary by market and by function.
Setup requires a compatible Android phone, Bluetooth, Samsung Health and—when Samsung-specific features are involved—a Samsung account. Samsung support explains the basic connection process through a Galaxy phone and Samsung Health in its Galaxy Ring support documentation.
Before purchasing, check all of the following:
- Your phone runs a supported version of Android;
- Samsung Health can be installed and updated on your phone;

Samsung’s current U.S. ordering flow displays sizes 5 through 15. That is broader than some of the narrower size ranges mentioned in early launch materials, so buyers should use the current ordering page for present availability rather than an old launch chart.
Samsung’s sizing process is deliberately slower than guessing from a regular ring:
- Order or obtain the Galaxy Ring sizing kit.
- Try the sample ring on the intended finger.
- Wear it for at least 24 hours, including ordinary daily activity and sleep.
- Pay attention to swelling, rotation, pressure and comfort at different times of day.
- Confirm the final size only after the extended fit check.
The sizing-kit samples are inoperable. They are measuring tools, not replacement rings and not health trackers. Does the Galaxy Ring require a subscription?
