1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe fastest way to improve Galaxy Watch7 battery life is to find the source of the drain, then reduce display wake-ups, unnecessary cellular or Wi‐Fi activity, GPS use, and demanding apps. Start with Settings → Battery → Battery usage, turn off Always On Display, and test LTE and health-monitoring settings before enabling the more restrictive Power saving mode.
Battery life differs substantially between Watch7 models and owners. The 40mm version has a 300mAh battery, while the 44mm version has a 425mAh battery. LTE use, weak reception, GPS workouts, sleep monitoring, screen settings, watch faces, apps, and network conditions all affect endurance. Samsung’s published figures are laboratory results, not a guaranteed number of hours or days in everyday use. Samsung’s specifications also warn that actual battery life varies by model, usage, and network environment.

1. Check battery usage before changing everything
Do not begin by disabling every health or connectivity feature. First identify whether the main problem is the display, a radio, GPS, health tracking, or a third-party app.
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap Battery.
- Open Battery usage or the battery-usage section.
Menu names can vary slightly with software version. Look for an app or service consuming an unusually large share of power.

- Display-related use: turn off Always On Display, reduce brightness and screen timeout, and limit wake gestures.
- One third-party app or watch face: update it, force-stop it, or uninstall it temporarily.
- LTE or mobile-network use: compare battery loss with the watch connected to the phone by Bluetooth and mobile network disabled.
- GPS use: end workouts and navigation when finished.
- Health services: reduce continuous measurements only if you accept the lost monitoring.
The Battery screen is useful evidence, but it may not explain every cause, such as poor cellular reception or a background process that is not clearly identified.
2. Apply the least disruptive fixes first
Turn off Always On Display
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap Display.
- Tap Always On Display.
- Turn it off.
Samsung says Always On Display keeps the screen, or parts of apps, visible while the watch is worn and uses more battery than normal screen-wake behavior. The trade-off is simple: you must raise, tap, or rotate the watch to see the time.
If available in your software version, a mode or schedule can provide a compromise—for example, leaving AOD off overnight. Samsung’s software documentation shows that mode controls can change with updates, so the precise options may differ. See the Watch7 user guide and Samsung’s software documentation.
Stop accidental screen wake-ups
Go to Settings → Display and review:
- Wake-up gesture or raise-to-wake
- Touch screen to wake
- Turn bezel to wake
- Screen timeout
- Brightness
- Adaptive brightness
A balanced setup usually keeps the wake method you actually use, disables raise-to-wake if the screen repeatedly activates during the day, uses a shorter timeout, and avoids maximum brightness except when needed. There is no universally correct brightness level: choose the lowest setting that remains comfortable to read.
Disable Wi‐Fi when Bluetooth is enough
If the phone is nearby and Bluetooth provides the connections you need, Wi‐Fi may be unnecessary. Disable it when you do not need independent network access, then restore it for situations where the watch must connect without the phone.

Review the watch face and apps
Animated faces and faces with multiple live complications can cause more background activity than a simple face. If battery usage points to an app or the drain began after installing a face, update it and test a basic Samsung face for one comparable charging cycle. This is more useful than repeatedly closing every app as a routine habit.
3. Control LTE and mobile-network drain
LTE models can consume more power when the watch is away from the phone, handles calls or data, or repeatedly searches for a signal. Weak reception is particularly important: a watch may work harder to maintain or find a network.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteRun a controlled comparison:
- Charge the watch to a similar level on two occasions.
- Keep the phone nearby and use Bluetooth for one test.
- Temporarily disable mobile network on the other test, or use Airplane mode when appropriate.
- Compare battery loss over similar periods and with similar activity.
This will not produce a universal percentage improvement, but it can reveal whether cellular connectivity is a major contributor for your setup. Disabling LTE means losing standalone calls, messages, streaming, and other connected functions when the phone is not nearby.
4. Use Power saving mode selectively
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Power saving.
- Turn it on.
Samsung says Watch7 Power saving turns off or limits several functions, including:
- Wi‐Fi
- Always On Display
- Wake-up gestures
- CPU performance
- Background network use
- Location services
- Syncing frequency
- Brightness and screen-timeout behavior
That makes it the quickest broad fix when the priority is maximum endurance, but it is not a cost-free optimization. The watch may respond less quickly, sync less often, and provide limited network or location behavior.

Power saving is most useful during travel, when the battery is low, or when the watch needs to last through the night and calls, workouts, and continuous health features are not essential. For ordinary daily use, the display and radio changes above are usually a better starting point. Samsung explains Power saving’s affected functions here.
5. Decide carefully whether to limit health features
The Watch7 includes a Limit health features option in its battery settings. Samsung says enabling it disables or reduces:
- Workout auto-detection
- High- and low-heart-rate alerts
- Background heart-rate monitoring
- Movement and respiration tracking during sleep
- Sleep-score calculation
Use this option only when you knowingly accept those losses. Someone who relies on heart-rate alerts, sleep tracking, or automatic workout detection should preserve those features and reduce display, app, Wi‐Fi, and LTE activity first. A smartwatch is not a substitute for professional medical monitoring; follow medical advice if health alerts are important to you.
6. Reduce GPS and workout-related drain
GPS is a high-demand feature when used for long outdoor workouts or navigation. End a workout when the activity is complete and make sure navigation is not still running in the background. If phone-connected workout tracking meets your needs, it may reduce the watch’s need to perform standalone connectivity and location work.
Keep normal GPS mode when accurate workout records matter. Do not look for the Watch Ultra’s Exercise power saving control on a regular Watch7: Samsung describes that feature as exclusive to the Watch Ultra. It reduces or changes GPS, heart-rate recording, Bluetooth, network, audio-guidance, and screen behavior, so Ultra advice should not be transferred to the Watch7. See Samsung’s feature comparison and battery guidance.

- Next-Generation 3nm Processor: Exynos W1000 chipset delivers significantly faster performance and smoother app navigation.
7. Update the watch, apps, and Galaxy Wearable
Update watch software
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the phone.
- Open the watch settings or Settings tab.
- Tap About watch.
- Tap Update watch software.
- Choose Update now, or the available manual-update option.
Samsung says the watch needs a network and Bluetooth connection to the phone for this process. Also update watch apps:
- Open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Galaxy Store.
- Tap the upper-right menu.
- Tap My page, then Update.
- Open the Watch tab and update relevant apps, or choose Update all.
An update may fix a software problem, but it is not guaranteed to improve battery life. Immediately after setup or an update, syncing, app installation, and health-data processing can temporarily increase use. Update everything, restart the watch, and compare more than one ordinary charging cycle before deciding the battery is defective. This is practical troubleshooting, not a Samsung-guaranteed calibration rule.
8. Restart after sudden or extreme drain
For many Galaxy watches, Samsung’s force-restart procedure is to press and hold the Home/Power key and Back key together until “Rebooting…” appears. It may take up to approximately 30 seconds.
Do not release the buttons at the first vibration if the reboot message has not appeared. The watch may briefly disconnect from Bluetooth after restarting. Samsung’s restart instructions should take priority if your software displays different behavior.

Galaxy Wearable → Apps → App info → select the app → Force stop
If the drain continues, temporarily uninstall the app and use a simple watch face for a comparable period. A problem that disappears during this test points toward the removed software, although it does not prove the precise cause.
Do not factory-reset the watch as a first response. Back up your data and reserve a reset for later troubleshooting, after checking settings, updates, apps, charging, and diagnostics.

A watch that is not reaching a full charge can appear to have poor endurance. Samsung recommends approved charging equipment and warns that third-party equipment may not charge properly.
- Center the watch on the charging surface.
- Inspect the dock and watch for damage or contamination.
- Remove a metal band if it interferes with charging or produces excess heat.
- Stop charging if the watch becomes excessively hot and let it cool.
- Avoid using the watch while it charges.
- If no charging indicator appears, press the Power/Home key once.
- Allow at least an hour of charging while troubleshooting.
Samsung used the Galaxy Watch Magnetic Fast Charging USB-C Cable EP-OR900 and Samsung 25W USB-C adapter EP-TA800 in its Watch7 laboratory testing. That does not mean the watch requires 25W input or that every third-party adapter is automatically unsafe; it does mean approved equipment is the sensible baseline when diagnosing charging behavior. Read Samsung’s charging guidance.

| Goal | Prioritize | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Balanced daily use | AOD off, fewer wake-ups, moderate brightness, simple face, Wi‐Fi or LTE only when needed | Less glanceability and background connectivity |
| Maximum endurance | Power saving, radios off when unnecessary, minimal apps and wake-ups | Limited syncing, location, responsiveness, AOD, and network features |
| Health-first | Keep health tracking and alerts; reduce display, app, Wi‐Fi, and LTE activity | Some convenience features are reduced |
| LTE travel | Use cellular only when away from the phone; avoid weak-signal situations where possible | No standalone connectivity when LTE is disabled |
| Overnight sleep tracking | AOD off, fewer wake-ups, review LTE/Wi‐Fi, preserve sleep features if needed | More charging or fewer nonessential overnight features may be necessary |
When the battery may be faulty
Seek Samsung support or authorized service if the Watch7 remains dramatically worse after updates, a restart, controlled LTE and app tests, and charging checks—especially if it:
- loses charge while barely being used;
- becomes unusually hot;
- shuts down with substantial charge remaining;
- fails to charge with properly aligned approved equipment;
- has physical or liquid damage; or
- fails a Samsung Members battery diagnostic.
On a Watch7 paired with a Samsung phone, open Samsung Members, enter the device diagnostics area, select the watch battery test if available, and follow the result-specific instructions. Availability can vary by device, region, and software.
