The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic is already released—it is not still a rumor. Samsung announced it on July 9, 2025, opened U.S. preorders the same day, and began general U.S. sales on July 25, 2025. Its defining features are a physical rotating bezel, a dedicated Quick Button, a 46mm case and Samsung’s Wear OS 6 platform.
It is the right choice for Samsung phone owners who want a substantial, traditional-looking smartwatch with tactile controls. The standard Galaxy Watch8 is cheaper and lighter, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra is the stronger option for rugged outdoor use.

Galaxy Watch8 Classic release date and availability
Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Watch8 Classic at Galaxy Unpacked on July 9, 2025. U.S. preorders opened that day, followed by general availability on July 25, 2025. The date was not universal: Samsung Australia, for example, listed sales beginning August 1, 2025.

That resolves the earlier rumors. The Classic returned as the physically rotating-bezel model in the Watch8 family, and “Classic” refers primarily to its traditional design and controls—not to a lower-performance edition.

U.S. price: Bluetooth versus LTE
| Model | U.S. launch MSRP |
|---|---|
| 46mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $499.99 |
| 46mm LTE | $549.99 |
Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP sheet still lists the Black and White Bluetooth models at $499.99 and the LTE models at $549.99. MSRP is not necessarily the live selling price: Samsung and retailers may offer discounts, trade-in credits or financing. A $50 preorder discount and enhanced trade-in credits were launch promotions, not a guaranteed current deal.
The LTE version costs $50 more before any carrier activation or recurring service charges. Choose LTE if you regularly leave your phone behind for calls, messages, streaming or emergency connectivity. Bluetooth/Wi-Fi is the better value if your phone is usually nearby.

Design and controls
The Watch8 Classic is a single-size 46mm smartwatch measuring 46.4 × 46.0 × 10.6mm and weighing 63.5g before accounting for the band. It is available in Black and White and includes a hybrid band; Samsung lists a medium/large fit range of approximately 145–205mm on its U.S. product information.
Its main advantage is the physical rotating bezel. Turning the bezel lets you scroll through notifications, tiles, menus and workout information without placing a finger over the display. It is especially useful during exercise or when the screen is damp. Buyers who prefer swiping and tapping may not consider the bezel worth the added size and price.
A new Quick Button provides a dedicated hardware shortcut. Together, the bezel and button give the Classic a more conventional-watch feel than the standard Watch8.

- Signature Rotating Bezel: Physical rotating bezel provides precise, tactile navigation through apps, menus, and notifications.
Health and fitness features
The Watch8 Classic is built around Samsung Health and includes:
- Sleep tracking and sleep-pattern analysis.
- Bedtime Guidance.
- Vascular-stress measurement during sleep.
- Running Coach with personalized plans and real-time coaching.
- Antioxidant Index information.
- Cardiovascular and exercise insights.
- Workout tracking and broader Samsung Health integration.
Samsung presents these as wellness, monitoring and lifestyle-management tools. Antioxidant Index readings, vascular-stress information, sleep analysis and cardiovascular insights should not be treated as medical diagnoses. Availability can vary by country, software version, connected phone and regulatory approval.
Wear OS 6, One UI 8 Watch and Gemini
The Classic launched with Wear OS 6, Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch interface and Google’s Gemini assistant. Samsung also introduced redesigned Multi-Info Tiles and a Now Bar intended to surface more information with fewer interactions.
Gemini can respond to voice requests involving supported apps and actions. Samsung gives examples such as starting a workout and interacting with Samsung Health, Calendar, Reminder and Clock. It is not unrestricted control of every watch function: supported actions depend on apps, permissions, account setup, connectivity, language and region.

Battery and charging expectations
The confirmed battery capacity is 445mAh. That number does not guarantee a fixed number of days per charge. Actual endurance varies with the Always-On Display, LTE use, GPS workouts, health monitoring, notifications and screen brightness.
Buyers should therefore compare the published capacity rather than relying on an unqualified “multi-day battery” claim. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is Samsung’s battery-focused outdoor model; the Classic’s appeal is its controls and styling.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic versus Galaxy Watch8
| Galaxy Watch8 Classic | Galaxy Watch8 | |
|---|---|---|
| Sizes | 46mm | 40mm and 44mm |
| Rotating bezel | Physical bezel | No physical Classic-style bezel |
| U.S. launch price | $499.99 Bluetooth; $549.99 LTE | $349.99 Bluetooth; $399.99 LTE |
| Best for | Traditional styling and tactile controls | Lower weight, smaller sizes and lower price |
The two watches share the broader Samsung software and health platform. The Classic’s premium is chiefly for its physical bezel, Quick Button, larger case and conventional appearance—not a completely separate health system.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra launched at $649.99 and is aimed at outdoor and endurance users. It is the better fit for buyers prioritizing ruggedness, titanium construction and longer battery life. The Classic is more suitable for everyday wearers who want a circular traditional-watch design and a rotating bezel.

Choose the Ultra for demanding outdoor use and maximum durability. Choose the Classic if the bezel and classic styling matter more than an adventure-focused design. Neither is automatically better for every wrist or use case.
Compatibility and buying checks
- Phone compatibility: Verify your phone, Android version, Samsung Health support, region and account requirements. “Works with Android” does not mean every health feature works on every Android phone.
- iPhone: Do not assume iPhone compatibility; confirm Samsung’s current requirements before ordering. The Watch8 Classic is designed for the Android/Galaxy ecosystem.
- LTE: Check whether your carrier supports the watch and whether it can be added to your phone plan. Device price does not include cellular service.
- Fit: The 46mm, 63.5g case is substantial. Measure your wrist and consider the band’s fit range before buying.
- Health features: Confirm country-specific availability and regulatory restrictions if a particular measurement is important to you.
- Offers: Separate MSRP, live sale price, trade-in credit, financing and carrier costs. Samsung’s promotions and delivery estimates can change.
Should you buy the Galaxy Watch8 Classic?
Buy it if
- You specifically want a physical rotating bezel.
- You prefer a traditional watch appearance and a larger display.
- You use Samsung Health and a compatible Galaxy ecosystem.
- You want the newest Classic-generation hardware and software.
- You want LTE and accept its additional device and service costs.
Choose the standard Galaxy Watch8 if
You want a lighter, thinner or smaller watch, or would rather save money than have a physical bezel. Its 40mm and 44mm options make it the more practical choice for smaller wrists.
Choose the Galaxy Watch Ultra if
You prioritize rugged outdoor and endurance use, titanium construction and battery capacity over traditional styling.
Keep a Watch6 Classic or another recent model if
Your current watch already provides the features you use and you do not need the newer processor, Wear OS 6 software or additional health insights. The upgrade is most compelling for people who specifically want the refreshed platform and Quick Button, not for anyone expecting a completely different category of device.
Verdict
The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is a real, available 2025 smartwatch—not an unresolved rumor. At $499.99 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or $549.99 for LTE in the U.S., it is a premium purchase whose main justification is the combination of a physical rotating bezel, Quick Button, traditional design and current Samsung software. Buy it for those tactile and stylistic advantages; choose the standard Watch8 for lower weight and price, or the Ultra for rugged outdoor priorities.
