Samsung hasn’t canceled the Galaxy Ring 2—but there’s still no launch date

Samsung hasn’t canceled the Galaxy Ring 2, but it also hasn’t announced a release date. Here’s what Samsung confirmed and whether you should buy now or wait.

Samsung appears to be developing a Galaxy Ring successor, but it has not announced a release date, price, specifications, or launch window. The device also did not appear at Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event. That makes an immediate launch unlikely, but it does not prove that Samsung has canceled the Galaxy Ring 2.

What Samsung has actually confirmed

Samsung executives have indicated that a next-generation Galaxy Ring is part of the company’s future wearable plans. Reporting on comments from Samsung health executive Hon Pak described the successor as being in development, while Samsung product executive Annika Bizon said a new Galaxy Ring would “definitely” form part of the company’s future wearable portfolio.

Those comments establish strategic intent—not a shipping schedule. Samsung has not formally announced the name “Galaxy Ring 2,” a launch date, price, specifications, supported markets, or preorder details. Android Authority reported on Hon Pak’s comments, while TechRadar reported on Bizon’s comments.

Why people think the Galaxy Ring 2 is not coming soon

Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Unpacked event passed without a Galaxy Ring successor. The company instead focused on next-generation foldables, Galaxy Watch products, intelligent eyewear, and Galaxy Health initiatives. Samsung’s official event recap does not list a Galaxy Ring 2.

The omission supports a narrow conclusion: Samsung did not launch the ring at that event. It does not prove that the product has been canceled, delayed from a previously announced schedule, or ruled out for the rest of 2026. Samsung could still announce it later, but there is currently no reliable date on which buyers can plan.

The most accurate summary is therefore: Samsung appears to be working toward a successor, but there is no confirmed near-term release.

Possible reasons for the wait

Samsung has not explained why it has not announced the successor, so the following are possibilities rather than confirmed reasons.

  • A longer upgrade cycle: Smart rings may not need annual hardware refreshes in the way smartphones and watches do.
  • Continued investment in the original: Samsung is still expanding the first-generation ring’s availability and sizing while adding sleep and health features.
  • Different hardware priorities: Samsung’s 2026 wearable strategy has emphasized watches, health software, and intelligent eyewear.
  • A more substantial second generation: Samsung may want improvements in battery life, sensors, comfort, sizing, software integration, or ecosystem features before launching a successor.

There is no verified evidence that the wait is specifically caused by a particular sensor, manufacturing problem, patent dispute, sales target, or other technical issue.

What is available now?

The current Galaxy Ring launched in 2024. Samsung opened U.S. preorders on July 10, 2024, followed by general availability on July 24. Its official materials describe a titanium smart ring designed for continuous health and sleep monitoring through Samsung Health. Samsung’s 2026 interim report lists the product as a July 2024 release.

Should you buy the Galaxy Ring now or wait?

Your situation Practical choice
You use a Galaxy phone and want sleep or health tracking now Consider the current Galaxy Ring if its existing features meet your needs.
You specifically want the newest Samsung hardware Wait. There is no successor preorder or launch date yet.
You use an iPhone Do not assume compatibility. Samsung has not confirmed iPhone support for a future ring, and the current ring is primarily a Samsung/Android ecosystem product.
You are price-sensitive Check Samsung’s current promotions and authorized retailers rather than relying on an old launch price.
You are unsure about ring size Use Samsung’s sizing process before ordering. A smart ring cannot be resized like ordinary jewelry.
You want broad platform compatibility Compare alternatives before committing to Samsung’s ecosystem.

Buy the current ring when

  • You need a Samsung Health device now.
  • You already own a compatible Galaxy phone or Galaxy Watch.
  • You prefer not to pay a mandatory recurring membership for the current ring’s core functionality, subject to Samsung’s current service terms.
  • You find a worthwhile discount or bundle and can accept first-generation hardware.

Wait when

  • You would regret buying hardware that may soon be replaced.
  • You want better battery life, sensors, fit, or compatibility than the current model provides.
  • You need confirmed iPhone support.
  • You are not already invested in Samsung Health.

A sensible middle ground is to buy only from a seller with a clear return policy and avoid paying full price unless the current model solves an immediate need. Waiting has a cost: Samsung has provided no timetable, so the wait could last months rather than weeks, and a future ring could launch at a higher price or with limited initial availability.

What has not been confirmed

There is no verified public confirmation of the successor’s final name, price, release date, battery life, sensor package, dimensions, finishes, medical or wellness features, subscription policy, or iPhone compatibility. Claims about blood-pressure monitoring, glucose tracking, major battery improvements, or a smaller design should be treated as speculation unless Samsung announces them.

The Galaxy Ring is a wellness device, not a general substitute for medical diagnosis. Health and sleep features should be understood within Samsung’s stated capabilities and applicable regional restrictions.

Alternatives if you do not want to wait

Oura Ring is the established alternative for readers who prioritize a mature smart-ring platform, but expanded insights involve a membership component. Check Oura’s current purchase and membership terms before buying.

Ultrahuman Ring may suit readers specifically seeking a smart ring without a recurring membership fee. Compatibility, feature access, warranty, returns, and regional availability should be verified on the live store.

Neither alternative is a guaranteed replacement for Samsung Health integration. The right choice depends on phone compatibility, subscription preferences, sizing, available features, and whether you need a ring immediately.

Bottom line

Samsung has not abandoned the Galaxy Ring line, but it has not announced an imminent Galaxy Ring 2 launch either. The successor appears to be part of Samsung’s future wearable portfolio, while its absence from the July 2026 Unpacked event confirms only that it was not launched there.

Buy the current Galaxy Ring if you want Samsung Health tracking now and its present hardware is good enough. Wait if you specifically want next-generation hardware or confirmed iPhone support—but do so knowing that Samsung has offered no timetable.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
