It brought stability, reliability, and security improvements—not a new One UI Watch feature package—and availability varied by model, region, carrier, and paired phone.
Samsung’s April 2025 software update expanded across four generations of Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches: the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 4, and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The rollout was broad, but not simultaneous everywhere. Availability depended on the watch model, market, carrier, network variant, and paired smartphone.
Which Galaxy Watches were eligible?
| Generation | Models covered |
|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch 7 | Galaxy Watch 7 |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra | Galaxy Watch Ultra |
| Galaxy Watch 6 | Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic |
| Galaxy Watch 5 | Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro |
| Galaxy Watch 4 | Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic |
Contemporary rollout reports indicated that the update initially appeared on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra earlier in April. By April 29, 2025, availability had expanded to the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, Watch 6, and Watch 7 families. That date describes the expanding rollout, not a universal release date for every owner.
If you are comparing replacement options rather than updating an existing watch, both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 7 are directly relevant to this update story. Buying either watch was not necessary to receive the software update on an eligible device.

What the April 2025 update changed
Samsung’s model-specific changelogs describe the release in deliberately general terms:
- Improved stability and reliability.
- Improved security.
This was a maintenance and security release, not a new major One UI Watch feature package. It should not be confused with One UI 6 Watch, which introduced features such as Energy Score, expanded sleep analysis, workout routines, new watch faces, and gesture controls. The April changelogs examined for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 7 do not promise a new feature set, a specific battery-life improvement, or a redesigned interface.
Known build and security-patch details
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 documentation lists build R930XXU1BYD1 for the SM-R930 model, with a release date of April 28, 2025. That build carried the March 1, 2025 security-patch level.

Galaxy Watch 7 documentation lists a comparable April build, L305FXXU1AYCD, released April 23, 2025 for at least one international model. It also listed the March 1, 2025 security patch. Build numbers vary by model and regional or network version, so owners should compare the complete model and software information rather than assuming every watch should show one identical code.

The broader Samsung April 2025 security release included Google and Samsung fixes. An April 8 security advisory also identified a Bluetooth-pairing vulnerability affecting Galaxy Watch software in the wider release context. However, Samsung’s watch-specific changelogs use general “improved security” wording. It is therefore more accurate to say that the update included security improvements than to claim that every vulnerability in the wider bulletin was fixed on every listed watch variant.
How to check for the update
Samsung provides two supported update paths. The Galaxy Watch must remain paired with a compatible smartphone during the process.

From the Galaxy Wearable app
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the paired phone.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Choose Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install.
From the watch
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap Software update.
- Choose Download and install.
Before starting, charge the watch sufficiently, keep the paired phone nearby, and maintain the Bluetooth or network connection. The download was commonly reported at roughly 400–500 MB, but that is only an approximate range; package size can differ by model, software version, and region.
What to do if the update does not appear
Not seeing the update on April 29 did not prove that a watch was unsupported. Samsung states that update availability can vary by model, country or region, carrier, and paired smartphone.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Confirm the exact model. A Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic can receive different packages and may not be offered the update at the same time.
- Check through Galaxy Wearable. The phone app is the most useful first check because the rollout can be tied to the watch’s region and network configuration.
- Keep the phone and watch connected. Bring them close together and verify that the watch remains paired.
- Try again later. Staged rollouts often reach different markets and variants on different dates.
- Record the software information. After installation, open the watch’s software information and note the model, build number, and security-patch level if you need support.
How to verify that installation completed
Once the watch restarts, return to the software-update screen or the watch’s software-information page. Check that the build has changed and that the security-patch level matches the release offered to your model. Do not use the Galaxy Watch 6 build number as a requirement for a Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, or another regional variant; Samsung publishes separate packages for different models and versions.

Is the update worth installing?
For an eligible watch, yes. The April release was primarily a stability, reliability, and security update rather than a feature upgrade. That means owners should not expect a visibly different interface or a dramatic new capability, but postponing a security and reliability update offers little benefit unless the watch is currently needed for an uninterrupted activity or the installation cannot be completed safely.
The update also does not require a new charger, charging dock, or watch band. If an older watch needs maintenance, a compatible Galaxy Watch band or replacement charging accessory may be useful, but compatibility should be checked by watch generation and case size before buying. Those accessories are ownership options, not requirements for Samsung’s April software rollout.

Samsung’s April 2025 Galaxy Watch update was a broad maintenance rollout covering the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, 6, and 7 generations, as well as the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Its documented purpose was to improve stability, reliability, and security. Rollout timing varied, the download was often around 400–500 MB, and the April builds examined carried the March 1, 2025 security patch. Check through Galaxy Wearable, keep the watch paired and charged, and wait for a later availability window if the update is not listed immediately.
