Seiko’s 2023 55th-anniversary lineup has two distinct historical threads: the limited SRPK17 recreates the first Seiko 5 Sports watch from 1968, while SRPK09, SRPK11 and SRPK13 are SKX Sports Style watches that pay tribute to designs and colors from the 1969 collection. All four share the automatic 4R36 movement and a 10 bar water-resistance rating, but differ in size, styling and case-back details. Only the SRPK17 is specified as a 15,555-piece limited edition.
How the four anniversary watches differ
The most useful distinction is historical: SRPK17 is the 1968 re-creation; the three larger SKX Sports Style models look back to the 1969 collection. Seiko’s June 2023 announcement describes the latter as special editions, but the cited official material specifies a limited quantity only for SRPK17.
| Reference | Anniversary connection | Published size | Dial and case-back details | Edition status in cited Seiko material |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| SRPK09 | SKX Sports Style homage to a 1969 design and color | 42.5 mm diameter; 13.4 mm thick (2023 announcement) | Silver dial; see-through screw case back | Called a special edition; no limited quantity stated |

SRPK17 or one of the three SKX models?
Choose SRPK17 for the 1968 re-creation
The SRPK17 is the smaller watch by Seiko’s published diameter and thickness figures. Its 39.5 mm diameter and 12.5 mm thickness contrast with the three SKX models’ 42.5 mm and 13.4 mm. Seiko also publishes a 43.1 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 20 mm lug distance for SRPK17. Those dimensions describe the watch, not a guarantee of how it will fit a particular wrist.

Choose among SRPK09, SRPK11 and SRPK13 by dial treatment
The three SKX Sports Style watches have the same published diameter and thickness. Their clearest stated visual distinction is the dial and bezel treatment: SRPK09 has a silver dial, SRPK11 an orange dial, and SRPK13 a black dial with a contrasting bezel color. Seiko describes their shared design cues as the iconic SKX case shape, crown protectors, a unidirectionally rotating bezel and a three-link bracelet.
Rank #2
- SEIKO WATCH – Seiko SRPK97 wristwatch.
- SERIES – Seiko 5 Sports SKX series design.
- CRYSTAL – Curved Hardlex crystal.
- BEZEL – Unidirectional rotating bezel.
- WATCH DIAMETER – 42.5 mm.
All three have see-through screw case backs, unlike the SRPK17’s marked solid screw case back. The cited announcement does not give the SKX models an individual limited-piece quantity, so their “special edition” designation should not be read as proof of a numbered limited run.
