The Seiko 5 Sports MOONEYES Limited Edition is a 1,500-piece collaboration built on Seiko’s SKX-series platform. Its 42.5 mm steel case, 4R36 automatic movement and 10-bar water resistance are familiar Seiko 5 Sports foundations; yellow MOONEYES details, a matching striped strap and special presentation box make this edition distinct.

What makes the MOONEYES edition different?
MOONEYES’ story begins with Dean Moon in Southern California in 1950; Shige Suganuma founded MOON OF JAPAN in 1986, according to Seiko. The collaboration translates the brand’s visual identity into the watch rather than introducing a different movement platform. Seiko describes the dial as incorporating MOONEYES’ symbolic yellow and features a transparent logo across it. The bezel has a racing-inspired treatment, while a yellow translucent caseback and garage/container-style presentation box continue the theme. Seiko’s collaboration description.

- DURABLE UTILITY: these versatile men’s wrist watches feature a 42.5mm stainless steel watch case and bracelet, for a classic, timeless look.

- 4R34 CALIBER: equipped with the reliable 4R34 caliber, these automatic watches for men ensure the most accurate in self winding timekeeping, with 41 hours of reserve power and manual winding option
Seiko says the bezel design is derived from car racing and printed on the reverse side of transparent acrylic to create a glossy finish like clear car paint. This is a bezel design detail; the watch’s crystal is curved Hardlex, not acrylic. Seiko also identifies the yellow dial treatment as the edition’s symbolic MOONEYES color. Seiko Watch Corporation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How large does it wear?
The 42.5 mm diameter makes the SRPL39 a substantial sports watch, and its 13.4 mm thickness adds noticeable height. The 46.0 mm lug-to-lug measurement is useful when considering how the case may sit across a wrist; the 22 mm lug width sets the size for compatible replacement straps. Its listed weight is 168.0 g, so the included bracelet-and-strap setup is not an especially lightweight proposition. Wrist fit is personal, and these dimensions alone cannot guarantee how it will feel on a particular wrist.
Is the SRPL39 worth buying?
Its strongest case is for someone who specifically wants MOONEYES styling, the limited-production status, and the option of both a bracelet and branded yellow-and-black nylon strap. The watch pairs those collector-focused details with a conventional 4R36 automatic movement and 10-bar water resistance. The trade-offs are a relatively large 42.5 mm case and a Hardlex crystal rather than a more scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Seiko’s product information establishes the specifications and edition size, but not measured accuracy, long-term durability or resale value; those should not be assumed from the limited-edition designation.
Price and availability
Seiko Boutique UK lists an RRP of £390 including VAT for SRPL39K1. Seiko Boutique Singapore listed the watch at S$663.90 and marked it out of stock in a listing indexed in 2026; that listing is a dated snapshot, not confirmation of present stock. Check regional Seiko retailers for current availability, and verify the reference and seller before buying from a third party. UK product listing; Singapore listing.
