What “1970s style” means for Seiko Recraft
Recraft is a modern collection drawing on nostalgic Seiko designs from the 1960s and 1970s, according to TimeScape’s collection description. That describes a design influence; it does not establish that an SNKM97 or SNKP27 was made in the 1970s. Treat a specific watch as vintage only if its production date and provenance can be verified independently.
Are Seiko Recraft watches automatic?
Yes. Seiko’s 2022 catalog identifies the SNKM97 and SNKP27 as self-winding, with a 41-hour power reserve. Seiko México likewise lists the SNKM97 with caliber 7S26 and an approximately 41-hour reserve, and says the watch works through the motion of the wearer’s wrist: “Este reloj automático funciona con el movimiento de la muñeca del usuario.” [Translation: “This automatic watch works with the movement of the user’s wrist.”] Seiko México’s SNKM97 specifications are specific to that reference; do not assume every Recraft has identical specifications.

These dimensions make the SNKM97 the larger-wearing option on paper; the SNKP27 has a 4 mm smaller listed diameter. Case diameter alone does not determine wrist fit, so consider lug-to-lug length and how the case sits on your wrist if the seller provides those measurements. Dial appearance is also a personal choice, and exact configurations should be checked against the reference and listing rather than inferred from the Recraft name.

For a new or pre-owned example, confirm the exact reference, seller, condition, included parts, and service history. A listing for one strap configuration does not prove another strap will fit: verify the individual watch’s lug width and the replacement strap’s compatibility before ordering. The available sources do not establish one universal service interval or repair requirement for every Recraft.
