Seiko’s Power Design Project Collection 2 turns the familiar panda chronograph into an actual panda face. The limited-edition quartz watches come in white (HHK001P1) and pink (HHK002P1), with sleepy-eye sub-dials, bamboo-leaf hands and ear-shaped pushers. Beneath the playful design, both use Seiko’s 8T61 quartz chronograph movement.
What makes Seiko’s panda chronograph literal?
In conventional watch terminology, a “panda” dial is white with contrasting black sub-dials. Seiko Watch Corporation describes that familiar nickname on its Power Design Project Collection 2 page—then asks whether the dials really resemble pandas and answers with a design built around the animal’s face.
The two sub-dials suggest drooping eyes, while a small nose and mouth sit at 6 o’clock. The chronograph pushers evoke ears, and the compact crown helps preserve the outline. Seiko says the dial’s embossed radial texture is meant to suggest fur. The hour and minute hands resemble bamboo leaves; a relief on the caseback shows the panda from behind, including its white tail. Even the presentation box carries the theme.
What is the SASAMETER?
The scale around the dial is a tachymeter, a familiar chronograph feature for indicating speed from elapsed time over a known distance. Seiko renames it the “SASAMETER,” from sasa, Japanese for bamboo leaves, tying the scale to the panda theme.

Seiko says the scale indicates speed based on the time taken to travel 1 km. Its example imagines a panda running at full speed for two minutes and gives a theoretical reading of 30 km/h. That is a playful illustration of the scale, not a measured claim about panda running speed.
White HHK001P1 and pink HHK002P1: what differs?
The documented differences are dial color and production quantity. Seiko’s official UK product listings give both watches the same dimensions and core movement specifications. They are leather-strap chronographs; the available specifications do not establish a difference in comfort or wrist fit.

Seiko’s UK listings state worldwide limited quantities of 3,000 white and 2,000 pink watches. Those are product figures, not a guarantee that either model is currently in stock.
What are the specifications of the 8T61 chronograph?
Seiko’s official UK listing for the white HHK001P1 gives the following specifications; its product pages identify the same movement and core dimensions for the pink version.

Availability and price depend on market and can change. The official UK store listings showed November 2026 availability and a price of £510 for each model when accessed in October 2026. WatchTime’s 6 October 2026 report said both would be available from November through Seiko boutiques and select retailers worldwide, at a reported price of $540. Neither figure should be treated as a universal price or a guarantee of present stock.
