What is the Pebro strap like on the Schofield?
The named model is the Pebro CADW, described by Svaboe as distressed vintage calf leather with a soft leather lining, matte finish and pistachio-colored edging. Its overall color is olive green. He says its padding and substantial feel suit the large, heavy watch, and that it felt comfortable straight away on his 7.5-inch wrist. These are his subjective impressions rather than the result of a durability or comfort test.
The detail that makes the pairing distinctive is the green edge. Svaboe says it echoes the green linear power-reserve indicator below 12 o’clock on the Signalman GMT. The watch’s two-tier dial and lighthouse-inspired design give the strap a specific visual context: this is a considered color accent, rather than simply a neutral replacement band.
What should you check before ordering a 24 mm strap?
Svaboe identifies 24 mm as the strap width required for his Signalman GMT. Confirm the lug width for your own watch and check the seller’s current measurements before buying; the article does not establish a universal fit for every Signalman or every strap described as 24 mm.

- Lug width: Confirm that the strap’s stated width matches the distance between your watch’s lugs.
- Strap length: Choose a length suited to your wrist, rather than assuming Svaboe’s 7.5-inch wrist fit will work for you.
- Buckle width and attachment: Check the buckle measurement and attachment style against the watch and the seller’s listing.
- Construction: Compare material, lining, padding and stiffness. A substantial padded strap may feel right on a large watch, but personal comfort varies.
- Color and finish: Check the actual shade and edge treatment in the current product listing if you want the green accent that inspired this pairing.
Why does the pairing work with this watch?
In the 2022 article, Svaboe describes the Signalman GMT as a 44 mm watch with a cone-like case profile, a top around 41 mm, a reported 500 m depth rating and a Soprod 9335 caliber. He also calls it “no diver.” Those are specifications and characterizations reported in that article, rather than independently verified current product data.
Svaboe says his watch was number 8 of a 300-piece limited edition. He recounts buying it in 2012 for €3,500: “I didn’t choose Swiss, and this (in 2012) was the first time I spent €3,500 on a watch.” His strap choice reflects a personal design and value judgment: he liked the way the edge picked up the dial’s green indicator and preferred a strap costing less than €50 to spending more on an additional OEM strap.

What did the strap cost, and is it still available?
Svaboe reported an approximate price of €40 and described an assortment of up to 12 colors and five widths in his August 2022 article. Those are historical figures, not a current price or confirmation of stock. The article names Watch Obsession as a retailer with a large strap selection, but it does not establish present availability of this Pebro model there or elsewhere. Check the brand or retailer’s current listing for price, color options and measurements before ordering.
The article discusses one strap rather than comparing alternatives. If the CADW is unavailable, use the same fit checks to assess other 24 mm leather straps; the source does not identify a specific substitute.
