Suunto’s Race 3S is a compact titanium performance watch launched on 15 October 2026, combining a 46 mm case, AMOLED display, offline maps and conversational AI coaching. T3 reports up to 45 hours of dual-band GPS—40% more than the previous Race S—while Suunto’s own newsroom lists up to 38 hours. Those are different maximum specifications or operating assumptions, so neither figure should be treated as a guaranteed real-world runtime.
What the Suunto Race 3S is
The Race 3S is Suunto’s smaller, lighter performance-watch option. It uses a compact titanium 46 mm case and weighs 56 g with its silicone strap, or 38 g without it, according to T3. The design targets runners, cyclists, hikers and multisport athletes who want advanced navigation and training features without the bulk associated with large ultradistance watches.

Suunto vice president of product Daniel Das Bhowmik said: “People have more performance data at their fingertips than ever, but turning all that information into something useful can be a challenge.” The Race 3S addresses that problem with Suunto AI Coach in the Suunto mobile app.

Suunto Race 3S battery life: why the 45-hour and 38-hour claims differ
Battery life is the headline specification, but the launch materials do not give one identical maximum. T3 reports up to 45 hours of dual-band GPS and describes that as a 40% improvement over the previous Race S. Suunto’s official newsroom states up to 38 hours of dual-band GPS.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Claim | Source and qualification |
|---|---|
| Up to 45 hours of dual-band GPS | T3, 2026; presented as 40% longer than Race S |
| Up to 38 hours of dual-band GPS | Suunto newsroom, 2026 |
| Up to 12 days of daily-use battery | T3, 2026; launch-report claim |
The safest interpretation is that T3 and Suunto are quoting different maximum specifications or test assumptions. GPS mode, screen behavior, sensor use, temperature, map activity and notifications can all change endurance. No independent GPS or battery test accompanied the launch, so buyers planning a long event should treat both figures as manufacturer or launch-report maxima rather than a promise of field runtime.
Hardware and navigation upgrades
Bright AMOLED display and new processing hardware
The watch has a 1.32-inch AMOLED display rated at 2,000 nits, intended to remain readable in bright outdoor conditions. An Apollo 510 processor powers the device. Suunto also lists an upgraded optical heart-rate system with six LEDs and four photodetectors, although launch information does not establish independent accuracy results.

Climb Guidance adds elevation-focused information for routes with repeated ascents and descents, helping athletes anticipate climbing rather than relying only on distance remaining.
Storage, sports and music
Race 3S supports more than 100 sports modes and provides 64 GB of storage. Offline music is planned for a later software update; it is not a launch feature, so do not buy the watch expecting local playback immediately.

What Suunto AI Coach can do
Suunto AI Coach is a conversational assistant inside the Suunto app rather than a separate watch hardware mode. It can explain performance trends in ordinary language, generate charts, create structured workouts, build training plans and produce running routes. Compatible workouts and routes can then sync to the watch.
Where the coaching is useful
- Trend interpretation: ask the app to explain changes in training and performance data instead of manually comparing graphs.
- Workout creation: turn a goal into a structured session that can be sent to the watch.
- Route planning: generate a running route and synchronize it for offline navigation.
- Planning: create a longer training plan from conversational prompts, then use the watch to execute compatible sessions.
The launch materials do not establish how AI Coach compares with a coach, how its recommendations are validated, or which specific metrics each plan uses. Treat generated plans as guidance and review them against your experience, event requirements and medical advice.

Choose the Race 3S if lower weight, a bright AMOLED screen, worldwide offline maps and conversational workout generation matter more than maximum expedition endurance. Choose Enduro 4 if solar-assisted longevity, very long smartwatch intervals and Garmin’s established ultradistance metrics are the priority. The specifications describe different use cases rather than a universal winner.
Quick Recap
What to verify before buying
- Confirm the battery mode and test assumptions behind the advertised GPS maximum for your intended event.
- Check whether AI Coach features and the three-month trial are available in your country and activate by 31 December 2026 if you want the offer.
- Remember that offline music is planned, not available at launch.
- Compare case dimensions and strap fit in person if you have a smaller wrist; the 46 mm case is compact for this category but not a small watch.
