What is the TAG Heuer Carrera Seafarer?
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer is a new 2026 model identified by reference CBS2016.EB0430. Its defining feature is a tide indicator set into the 9 o’clock subdial, combining a nautical complication with the Carrera’s chronograph layout. How does the tide indicator work?
A dedicated pusher marked “TIDE” adjusts the indicator in the subdial at 9 o’clock. The display is intended to show the predicted time of the next high or low tide. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry says the mechanism tracks a lunar cycle of 29.53125 days; that figure describes the cycle used by the display, not a tide forecast for every individual coastline. Local tide times vary by location, so the watch’s indicator should be understood as a timekeeping complication rather than a substitute for location-specific tide tables. The Federation’s page includes a later specification line giving 40 mm, approximately 120 hours and a price in yen, which conflicts with its own description and TAG Heuer’s model-specific listing. Those figures are not treated here as verified specifications for reference CBS2016.EB0430.
Design and Seafarer heritage
The modern watch’s beige dial and teal and yellow details take their color cues, according to TAG Heuer, from a historic Heuer Seafarer made for Abercrombie & Fitch. The Federation frames the new model as a reinterpretation of the 1949 tide-measuring Seafarer. These descriptions connect the release to the older sailing watch, but the cited sources do not establish every reference-level detail of the vintage lineage.
The Carrera name has its own racing history. TAG Heuer recounts that Jack Heuer registered it after hearing about the Carrera Panamericana, and that the first Carrera, reference 2447, launched at the Basel Fair in 1963. The brand also says Heuer supplied timing equipment for the Intrepid yacht before creating the Skipper in 1968.
