Best overall: Apple Watch SE, 2nd generation, for $229
The Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) was the clearest value winner for iPhone owners. Its November 2022 price of $229 was described at the time as an all-time low, and the watch started at $249 before the promotion. That was not the largest percentage discount in the guide, but it put the newer SE close to entry-level fitness-tracker pricing while retaining the central Apple Watch experience.

The trade-off is important. The SE did not have the Series 8’s always-on display, ECG reader or skin-temperature sensor. It was therefore the right recommendation for someone who wanted notifications, activity tracking, safety features and the general Apple Watch experience—not for someone specifically shopping for the broadest health feature set.
It also belongs to Apple’s ecosystem. This is an iPhone-oriented purchase, not a general-purpose smartwatch for Android phones. Before buying a historical or used unit, check that the watch, phone, operating system and required apps are still compatible.
When the Apple Watch Series 8 was worth the extra $120
The Apple Watch Series 8 fell by $50 to $349, which contemporary deal coverage described as a record low. It was the better Apple purchase for shoppers who knew they wanted features the SE omitted.

- Temperature sensing: the sensor supported temperature-related tracking and retrospective ovulation estimates in Apple’s software ecosystem.

The simple decision was this: choose the SE if $229 was the priority and its omissions did not matter; choose Series 8 if the always-on display, ECG and expanded health features justified the extra cost. Neither November 2022 price should be presented as a current offer.
Adventure flagship: Apple Watch Ultra at $739
The Apple Watch Ultra dropped by $60 to $739. That was a meaningful discount on Apple’s 2022 adventure flagship, but it was not a budget deal. Contemporary review coverage considered the sale worthwhile while still emphasizing that the watch remained expensive.
The Ultra’s case was titanium, with a larger Digital Crown, physical action buttons, a bright display, 100-meter water resistance and longer battery life than Apple’s standard watch models. Those characteristics made sense for outdoor users, divers and people who valued rugged construction and endurance more than low cost.
For ordinary notifications, walks, sleep tracking and basic workouts, the SE or Series 8 was the more rational purchase. The Ultra’s discount made it more attainable; it did not change its specialist, premium positioning.
Best budget tracker: Fitbit Inspire 3 at about $70
The Fitbit Inspire 3 reached roughly $70, or about $30 off. It was one of the strongest low-cost fitness-tracker deals in the 2022 coverage and a good fit for readers who wanted a slim device for everyday activity, workouts, heart-rate tracking and sleep-related metrics without paying smartwatch prices.

It could automatically recognize certain workouts and offered long battery life. Its key compromise was GPS: the Inspire 3 did not include built-in GPS. It used connected GPS from a paired phone, so accurate route tracking required carrying that phone during an outdoor run, walk or ride.
That makes the buying decision straightforward:
- Choose Fitbit Inspire 3 if you want the slimmer and cheaper tracker and normally carry your phone.
- Spend more on Fitbit Charge 5 if leaving the phone behind for GPS workouts matters.
Best tracker with built-in GPS: Fitbit Charge 5 at about $100
The Fitbit Charge 5 fell by $50 to about $100. It was the more capable tracker for runners, cyclists and walkers who wanted a route recorded without relying on a phone.
Its notable features included built-in GPS, a full-color touchscreen, on-device EDA stress sensors, Fitbit Pay and multi-day battery life. Fitbit’s documentation identified built-in GPS and GLONASS support, along with the electrical sensors used by the EDA Scan app.
The Charge 5 was still a tracker rather than a full smartwatch. Its screen and app experience were more focused than those of an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Pixel Watch. That was an advantage if the goal was exercise and wellness data with fewer distractions, but a disadvantage if you wanted a large library of apps, extensive messaging tools or a watch-like interface.
Fitbit smartwatch deals: Sense 2 versus Versa 4
Fitbit Sense 2: the health-focused option at about $200
The Fitbit Sense 2 dropped by $100 to approximately $200, making it the premium Fitbit deal for shoppers primarily interested in health and stress features.
It included all-day stress monitoring using cEDA sensors, blood-oxygen measurements, an ECG app, built-in GPS, Fitbit Pay, sleep and movement tracking, and onboard Alexa capabilities. The combination of stress tools, GPS and smartwatch functions put it above the Inspire 3 and Charge 5 in ambition.
Those measurements should be treated as consumer wellness features. An ECG, blood-oxygen reading or stress estimate does not by itself diagnose a medical condition, and feature availability can depend on the user’s region, phone, software and applicable approvals.
Fitbit Versa 4: fitness-first smartwatch at about $150
The Fitbit Versa 4 fell to roughly $150. Launched in September 2022, it was positioned as the more affordable Fitbit smartwatch for people who wanted a thinner, lighter design, a broad set of sports profiles, calorie and sleep tracking, heart-rate monitoring and Active Zone Minutes.

Versa 4 made more sense than Sense 2 when the priority was exercise tracking and a smartwatch-style screen rather than the Sense line’s deeper health emphasis. The historical $150 price was especially compelling for Fitbit users who did not need an ECG or advanced stress-monitoring features.
Google Pixel Watch: attractive design, disappointing battery caveat
Google’s first Pixel-branded smartwatch fell by $50 to approximately $299. The Google Pixel Watch combined Google hardware and software with Fitbit’s health and fitness ecosystem, and contemporary coverage praised its design and tracking experience.
Battery performance was the principal reason to hesitate. Google promised up to 24 hours, but the review experience commonly reached only about 12 hours before low-power warnings. That does not make the Pixel Watch unusable, but it changes the ownership routine: frequent charging can interfere with overnight wear and sleep tracking.

The Pixel Watch was the natural choice for Android users drawn to Google’s design language and Fitbit integration. It was a weaker choice for anyone who ranked multi-day endurance above appearance, software integration or smartwatch polish.
Best mainstream Android deal: Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 at about $229
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 reached about $229, a price described as a record low in the contemporary coverage. It was the strongest Android-focused mainstream smartwatch deal in the guide and was especially appealing to Samsung phone owners.
Samsung’s standard Watch 5 offered sleep coaching, body-composition measurements, heart-rate and wellness tracking, automatic workout tracking and sapphire-crystal protection. Samsung rated it for up to 50 hours of battery life, although real-world endurance varies with settings, display behavior, workouts, GPS and health sensors.
The compatibility warning is decisive: Samsung states that the Galaxy Watch 5 cannot be set up with an iPhone and requires a compatible phone using the Galaxy Wearable app. In practice, Android compatibility should be checked before purchase, especially if the watch will be paired with a non-Samsung phone or an older handset.

Fitness-focused GPS bargain: Garmin vívoactive 4S at about $175
The Garmin vívoactive 4S fell to approximately $175—described by Engadget as nearly half its usual price. It was the best fit for buyers who cared more about training, GPS workouts and endurance than about installing apps or mirroring phone notifications.

Garmin’s health and performance measurements are useful for tracking trends and training, but they are not a substitute for clinical care. Buyers should also distinguish the 4S from newer Garmin models and confirm app, phone and feature compatibility before purchasing old stock.

Best long-battery hybrid: Withings ScanWatch at about $240
The Withings ScanWatch was discounted by $60 to approximately $240. Its hybrid analog-digital design made it a different kind of deal from the Apple, Samsung and Google watches: it looked more like a traditional watch, used small displays and subdials for activity and heart-rate information, and prioritized battery life over a full touchscreen interface.
ScanWatch included ECG, blood-oxygen monitoring and 50-meter water resistance, with a claimed battery life of up to 30 days. The long runtime made it appealing to people who disliked nightly charging or wanted a watch that could blend into formal clothing.
Withings Steel HR was also discounted to about $135. It offered the same broad hybrid-watch idea at a lower price, but with fewer advanced health features than ScanWatch. Both models were alternatives for shoppers who wanted traditional styling and longevity rather than a large app ecosystem.
As with Fitbit, Garmin and Apple health features, ECG and blood-oxygen functions should be understood as consumer wellness tools rather than automatic medical diagnoses. Availability can also vary by region and software support.

What to check before buying one of these older deals
- Confirm phone compatibility. Apple Watch is intended for iPhone owners, and the Galaxy Watch 5 cannot be set up with iOS. Fitbit, Garmin and Pixel Watch features can also depend on the phone, operating system, app and region.
- Separate built-in GPS from connected GPS. Charge 5, Sense 2, Versa 4, Galaxy Watch 5, vívoactive 4S and Apple’s watch models offered their own GPS-related functionality as described in the contemporary coverage.
