There is no single best pair of smart glasses from CES 2026. The show revealed three different products: large-screen display glasses for movies and gaming, discreet AI eyewear with a small heads-up display, and entertainment-focused glasses from TCL’s RayNeo brand. For most people who want a wearable screen, the XREAL 1S is the most practical choice. The ROG XREAL R1 was the most ambitious gaming demonstration, Even Realities G2 was the strongest everyday heads-up display, and RayNeo Air 4 Pro was the most compelling entertainment alternative.
The CES 2026 smart-glasses winners
| Award | Pick | Best for | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best overall display glasses | XREAL 1S | Movies, gaming and portable screens | The best balance of price, image quality and ecosystem for most display-glasses buyers. |
| Best CES demonstration | ROG XREAL R1 | High-refresh-rate gaming | Its announced 240Hz display and 57-degree field of view were extraordinary, but retail details remained unresolved. |
| Best everyday AI glasses | Even Realities G2 | Translation, navigation and teleprompting | The strongest choice for discreet, camera-free heads-up information rather than a giant virtual screen. |
| Best entertainment value | RayNeo Air 4 Pro | Video and gaming | A bright HDR10 display with 3D playback and integrated audio, but no 3DoF spatial anchoring. |
| Best product to wait for | ROG XREAL R1 | Early-adopter gamers | Worth watching until price, shipping, warranty and final retail performance are confirmed. |
These awards are not directly interchangeable. XREAL and RayNeo are primarily wearable displays. Even Realities G2 is closer to a conventional pair of glasses with a small information overlay. Calling all three “AR glasses” can create the wrong expectations: a wearable display may mirror a phone or console without placing holograms into the room.

What “smart glasses” means here
Display glasses connect to a phone, laptop, handheld or console and present a large private virtual screen. They are best understood as lightweight monitors worn on the face.
Spatial-display glasses add features such as three-degrees-of-freedom positioning, allowing the virtual screen to remain more stable as the wearer moves their head. This is still different from fully transparent, world-anchored mixed reality.
#1 Best Overall
- 【Biggest. Boldest. Smartest. — A Viewing Experience Like Never Before】This isn't just another pair of XR glasses — it's The Beast. The BIGGEST screen in XR (174″, 58° FOV). The BOLDEST display ever (1250 nits, Powerd by Latest Sony Micro-OLED). And the SMARTEST glasses on the planet — Your Screen, You Rules. Built-in 3DoF, screen customizations, Auto Transparency, and Smart Re-Centering that just work. No software needed. One glance and you'll never go back.
- 【SMARTEST: YOUR SCREEN, YOU RULES — No Software Needed】 Your Screen. You Rules! Built-in VisionPair 3DoF lets you pin, resize, and lock a 174″ screen in mid-air — no software, no dongles, no drift. Full screen customizations built right into the glasses: Anchor, Smooth Follow, 32:9 UltraWide, Side Mode. Auto Transparency switches between immersion and the real world with one tap. Smart Re-Centering snaps your view back instantly.
- 【BIGGEST: THE ULTIMATE IMMERSIVE GIANT — 174″ Screen, 58° FOV, 1200p】The largest virtual display in consumer XR. Period. A 174″ screen powered by Sony's latest-generation Micro-OLED panel pushes 1200p per eye at a class-leading 58° field of view with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Every frame is edge-to-edge sharp, silky-smooth, and jaw-droppingly vivid. It's like strapping an IMAX to your face.
- 【SMARTEST: 9-LEVEL DIMMING + AUTO TRANSPARENCY — No Software Needed】 Another reason The Beast is the smartest XR glasses ever made. One tap shifts between crystal-clear AR and full cinematic blackout across 9+ electrochromic levels — no app, no software, just hardware intelligence. Auto Transparency adapts between immersion and awareness on its own. Bright office, dim plane, pitch-dark bedroom — The Beast reads the moment for you. No glare. No reflections. Just pure immersion.
- 【BOLDEST: NEXT-LEVEL CLARITY & AUDIO — 1250 Nits + HARMAN AudioEFX】1250 nits of peak brightness — over 2× brighter than the competition — means you can actually see your screen outdoors, in sunlight, no squinting required. Pair that with HARMAN AudioEFX: deeper bass, wider soundstage, and crystal-clear highs tuned by the world's leading audio engineers. Other XR glasses make you choose between picture and sound. The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
AI glasses use microphones, speakers, an assistant and sometimes a camera to provide voice responses, reminders, recognition and contextual help.
HUD glasses place small text, symbols or prompts in the wearer’s field of view. They prioritize glanceable information over films, games and full-screen applications.
That distinction determines the buying decision. Someone seeking a private cinema should not buy G2 expecting a 201-inch virtual screen. Someone seeking discreet navigation should not choose bulky display glasses simply because they have a higher resolution.

XREAL 1S: best overall display glasses
The XREAL 1S is the easiest CES 2026 recommendation for buyers who want a large screen they can carry in a pocket. XREAL announced it on January 4, 2026, with a U.S. launch price of $449 and availability stated through XREAL.com, Amazon and Best Buy.
Its advertised 1200p optics and support for XREAL’s Real 3D feature give it a more ambitious experience than basic screen mirroring. The glasses are aimed at phones, computers, handhelds and consoles, with the exact experience depending on the source device and the available software.
Why the 1S stands out
- It is a practical retail product rather than merely a show-floor concept.
- The $449 launch price is easier to justify than a premium headset for a private screen.
- It supports a broad One-series accessory ecosystem.
- Spatial-display functions make it more useful for gaming and desktop-style use than a simple mirrored display.
- It suits travelers, commuters, movie watchers and handheld gamers.
The important limitation is connectivity. A USB-C port does not automatically mean compatibility. The source device generally needs DisplayPort video output over USB-C, sufficient power and support for the relevant app or controls.
Do you need XREAL Neo?
The XREAL Neo is a power and video accessory announced alongside the 1S. Its launch price was stated as $99 from January 4 through February 4, 2026, with a later stated price of $119 and shipping expected to begin in February. It matters most when a handheld or console cannot conveniently deliver video and power through one direct connection.
Do not treat the glasses’ headline price as the complete cost for every setup. Add the Neo, adapters, prescription inserts, shipping and regional taxes where applicable.
Buy the XREAL 1S if: your priority is a large private screen and your phone, laptop or handheld supports the required video connection. It is not the right choice if you want normal-looking eyewear, standalone AI assistance or transparent room-anchored AR.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
ROG XREAL R1: the most exciting gaming announcement
The ROG XREAL R1, announced January 5, 2026, was CES’s biggest smart-glasses spectacle for gamers. Its stated specifications include a 1920×1080 micro-OLED display, a 240Hz refresh rate, a 57-degree field of view, 3DoF, electrochromic tinting and Bose audio.
It also works with a separate ROG Control Dock. The dock is listed with two HDMI 2.0 inputs, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, one USB-C output and 4K/60Hz support, with a listed weight of 230 grams.
On paper, that makes the R1 unusually attractive for competitive gaming. A high refresh rate can make motion feel smoother, while the wider field of view should make a virtual display feel less like a small window. Electrochromic tinting could also help manage the surrounding light without requiring a separate physical shade.
But the R1 must be separated into two verdicts:
- Best CES demo: yes, based on its ambitious announced gaming specifications.
- Best product to buy today: not yet established from the available evidence.
The reviewed CES coverage treated it as unreleased, and the available announcement did not establish a confirmed retail price, shipping schedule, warranty or return policy. Until those details are verified, calling it the best buy would confuse impressive technology with a finished retail recommendation.
Wait for the R1 if: high-refresh-rate gaming is your priority and you are comfortable waiting for confirmed availability. If you need glasses that ship now, the XREAL 1S is the safer recommendation.
Even Realities G2: best everyday AI and HUD glasses
The Even Realities G2 follows a different philosophy. It is designed to look more like conventional eyewear and show small amounts of useful information rather than replace a television or gaming monitor.

Reported use cases include live translation, navigation, teleprompting and contextual conversation assistance. CES hands-on coverage judged G2 to have the strongest heads-up display and live-translation experience among the products tested by that reviewer. Those are editorial hands-on judgments, not laboratory measurements, and translation quality depends on supported languages, software and network access.
Why G2 is different
- Its discreet styling is better suited to everyday wear.
- It is marketed and reviewed as camera-free, which reduces the most obvious privacy concern in social situations.
- A small HUD is useful for directions, prompts and notifications without blocking the wearer’s surroundings.
- It is a better fit for prescription-style eyewear than large display glasses.
There are trade-offs. G2 is not designed for immersive movies or console gaming. It also depends on a phone and companion software, and AI functions may require an internet connection, an account and cloud processing. “Camera-free” does not mean microphone-free or data-free: voice input, phone telemetry and account-linked usage can still raise privacy questions.
Comparison coverage has placed G2 around $599, but the exact official price can vary by frame, lens, prescription configuration and region. Check the official checkout price before buying.

Perfect for speeches and presentations

Choose G2 if: you want navigation, translation and prompts in relatively normal-looking glasses. Choose something else if your definition of smart glasses is a giant private screen.
RayNeo Air 4 Pro: best entertainment-focused alternative
RayNeo is TCL’s smart-glasses brand, so “TCL glasses” and RayNeo should not be treated as unrelated competitors. The RayNeo Air 4 Pro is a display-first product and is much closer to the XREAL 1S than to Even Realities G2.
The current official product page lists a 1080p micro-OLED display, up to 120Hz, HDR10, a manufacturer-claimed 201-inch virtual screen, four-speaker audio tuned with Bang & Olufsen and a listed weight of 76 grams. It accepts DisplayPort video over USB-C and can work with HDMI sources through a separate adapter.
The 201-inch figure describes a manufacturer-defined virtual viewing size, not a physical screen measurement. Likewise, 3D playback is not the same as spatial AR. RayNeo’s own FAQ says Air 4 Pro does not provide 3DoF spatial anchoring. It can show stereoscopic 3D or converted content, but the virtual image is not necessarily locked into the room as the wearer moves.
Power and accessory costs
Air 4 Pro has no built-in battery and draws power from the connected device. That reduces charging hardware inside the glasses but transfers the battery burden to a phone, laptop, handheld or adapter.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →RayNeo’s listed accessories include a $35 USB-C charging adapter, a $64 HDMI adapter, an $89 JoyDock and a $129 Pocket TV. Listed bundles ranged from $339 for the glasses with an HDMI adapter to $379 with a Pocket TV, while the official page showed a regular price of $299 and a temporary sale price around $254.15 in August 2026. Treat the sale figure as temporary, not as the permanent MSRP.
Choose Air 4 Pro if: you primarily want films and games, value HDR10 and integrated audio, and accept wired connections and accessory costs. Do not buy it expecting a camera-free AI assistant, normal-looking eyewear or head-anchored spatial AR.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compatibility checklist before you buy
- Check USB-C video: confirm that the phone, tablet, laptop or handheld supports DisplayPort video output over USB-C. A USB-C connector by itself is insufficient.
- Check power: a device may output video but fail to provide enough power for the glasses. You may need a hub, dock or powered adapter.
- Check the phone: USB-C iPhones are a different proposition from Lightning iPhones, which may need an additional adapter. Confirm the desired video mode before ordering.
- Check the console: Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, PlayStation and Xbox setups can require different docks, HDMI adapters or power arrangements.
- Check mirroring expectations: many display glasses simply mirror the source device. They do not run streaming apps independently inside the glasses.
- Check prescriptions: budget for prescription inserts or custom lenses, and verify whether they are returnable.
- Check the return policy: fit, nose pressure, blur, eye strain and cable comfort are difficult to judge from a short demonstration.
What matters beyond the headline specifications
Resolution, refresh rate and virtual-screen size do not guarantee a good experience. Look for sharpness at the edges, daylight visibility, black levels, HDR behavior, motion clarity and how stable the image feels while moving. Comfort matters just as much: nose pressure, temple balance, lens adjustment, light leakage and prescription support can determine whether the glasses are usable after an hour.

- [Better Sound Surrounding]:Stronger bass from drums, clearer mids from vocals, and crisper highs from violin, all achieved through the world's first dual opposing acoustic chamber design like no others. And even more precise audio cues to win in the final moment.
- [Comfort Reminder]:For your comfort and the best viewing experience, we suggest giving your eyes (and yourself) a 10-minute break after every 30 minutes of use.
Audio deserves the same scrutiny. Speakers that sound clear in a quiet showroom may be too quiet outdoors or leak sound in an office. Wired glasses may be lighter and simpler than a standalone headset, but the cable can be awkward in public.
For AI glasses, investigate microphone indicators, voice-processing location, phone and cloud requirements, supported translation languages, offline behavior, account requirements and data-retention policies. A camera-free design improves social acceptability, but it does not remove every privacy issue.
What to buy now—and what to wait for
Buy now
Buy the XREAL 1S if you have a compatible source device and want the strongest all-round wearable screen from this CES group. Buy Even Realities G2 if your real need is discreet navigation, translation or teleprompting. Buy RayNeo Air 4 Pro for entertainment if HDR10, 3D and integrated audio matter more than spatial positioning or AI assistance.
Buy only for a specific use
RayNeo’s glasses make sense for people who understand the adapter and power requirements. G2 makes sense for people who value a HUD and can accept phone and software dependence. The 1S makes sense only after checking DisplayPort compatibility; a cheap-looking USB-C connection that cannot output video will not work.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWait
Wait for the ROG XREAL R1 until its consumer price, release date, stock, warranty and return arrangements are confirmed. It may become the best gaming option, but CES specifications alone do not establish that it is the best product to purchase.
Also wait if you expect transparent AR with room-anchored holograms. None of these products should be bought on the assumption that a marketing label guarantees that experience.
Final verdict
CES 2026 showed smart glasses splitting into two useful paths. The XREAL 1S and RayNeo Air 4 Pro are wearable screens: best for games, films and portable productivity. Even Realities G2 is an everyday information layer: best for translation, navigation and prompts. The ROG XREAL R1 is the showstopper, but its retail status needs to catch up with its specifications.
For most display-glasses buyers, choose XREAL 1S. For discreet AI assistance, choose Even Realities G2. For entertainment value, consider RayNeo Air 4 Pro. For bleeding-edge gaming, keep watching the ROG XREAL R1—but do not confuse a CES announcement with a product you can reliably buy today.
