The Best Smartwatches of 2025: Top Picks for Every Budget in the US

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There was no single best smartwatch for every US buyer in 2025. The right choice depended first on your phone: Apple Watch for iPhone owners, Pixel Watch 3 for most Android users, and Galaxy Watch7 for Samsung owners. OnePlus Watch 3 led among battery-focused Wear OS options, Garmin Venu 3 suited fitness-first buyers, and Fitbit Charge 6 was the better choice for shoppers who wanted a tracker rather than a full smartwatch.

This is a dated 2025 buying guide covering models released or sold during 2025. Prices below are US launch or list prices where documented, not guaranteed current sale prices.

  • iPhone: Apple Watch Series 10 is the default recommendation. Apple Watch Ultra 2 is better for rugged outdoor use, while Apple Watch SE 2 is the budget option.
  • Pixel or other Android phone: Pixel Watch 3 is the polished general-purpose choice. OnePlus Watch 3 is better if battery life matters most; Garmin Venu 3 is better if fitness matters more than apps.
  • Samsung Galaxy phone: Galaxy Watch7 offers the closest integration with Samsung Health and Samsung’s phone ecosystem.
  • Switching between iPhone and Android: Garmin and Fitbit are safer platform-neutral choices, although cross-platform support does not guarantee identical features.

Apple Watch is not a practical Android purchase. OnePlus Watch 3 does not support iPhone; OnePlus says its OHealth app supports compatible Android smartphones but not iOS or Android Go devices (OnePlus).

The best smartwatches of 2025

Apple Watch Series 10: best overall for iPhone

Best for: iPhone owners who want apps, notifications, safety tools, health tracking, and the broadest smartwatch experience.

2025 price: Launch pricing began at $399 for the smaller GPS model and $499 for the smaller cellular model; larger models began at $429 and reached $529 with LTE, according to Tom’s Guide.

Series 10 came in 42mm and 46mm cases with a bright, wide-angle OLED display rated at up to 2,000 nits. Its feature set included ECG, heart-rate and temperature sensing, GPS, depth and water-temperature sensors, sleep-apnea notifications, emergency features, fast charging, 64GB of storage, and watchOS 11.

The main compromise is endurance: Apple rates it at approximately 18 hours, so daily charging is normal. LTE also adds a carrier plan and increases battery use. Applicable US units had the Blood Oxygen app disabled because of the Masimo dispute, so the feature list is not identical to that of models sold in every other market.

Buy it if: you use an iPhone and value seamless phone integration more than multi-day battery life.

Skip it if: you use Android, regularly spend several days away from a charger, or only need steps and sleep tracking.

Google Pixel Watch 3: best for most Android users

Best for: Android and Pixel owners who want Wear OS, Google services, and Fitbit’s health platform.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2025 price: Tom’s Guide documented a starting price of $349 and a $449 cellular starting price for the smaller model (comparison).

The Pixel Watch 3 was available in 41mm and 45mm sizes. It combined a bright AMOLED display with Google Maps, Google Wallet, Google Assistant, Wear OS 5, GPS, ECG, SpO2, sleep insights, readiness, cardio-load data, and advanced running metrics. Fitbit integration is the reason to choose it over a generic Wear OS watch.

Size matters. The 41mm version is closer to a one-day watch, while the 45mm model offers substantially better endurance and was rated by Tom’s Guide at up to 48 hours in its testing. Some advanced Fitbit coaching and insights may require Fitbit Premium. Health and safety features can also depend on region, authorization, phone compatibility, and network access.

Buy it if: you want a polished Android smartwatch with strong wellness and running tools.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Skip it if: you need week-long battery life, rugged outdoor navigation, or an iPhone-compatible watch.

Samsung Galaxy Watch7: best for Samsung phone owners

Best for: Galaxy users who want Samsung Health, Wear OS apps, and a conventional round watch.

2025 price: Samsung listed it from $249.99 before trade-in (Samsung).

Galaxy Watch7 came in 40mm and 44mm sizes and used a 3nm five-core processor. Its specifications included a sapphire-crystal display rated up to 2,000 nits, 5ATM and IP68 protection, MIL-STD-810H testing, sleep-apnea notifications, Energy Score, body-composition tools, cycle tracking, heart-rate monitoring, and improved fitness functions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The important qualification is Samsung-phone dependence. Galaxy Watch7 requires an Android phone running Android 11 or later with at least 1.5GB of memory, but certain Galaxy AI and health functions require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung Health, and a Samsung account. Samsung’s sleep-apnea software is intended to identify signs of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults aged 22 and older after a defined monitoring period; it is not a diagnosis and is not intended for people already diagnosed with sleep apnea.

Buy it if: you own a Samsung Galaxy phone and want the fullest Samsung Health experience.

Skip it if: you use an iPhone, dislike account dependencies, or want the longest possible battery life.

OnePlus Watch 3: best battery life among advanced Wear OS choices

Best for: Android users who want Wear OS apps without charging every day.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

OnePlus rated the Watch 3 for up to five days in a defined usage scenario, up to three days under heavy use, and up to 16 days in Power Saver mode. Its five-day scenario included Bluetooth, sleep monitoring, notifications, limited screen use, calls, music, and 30 minutes of GPS exercise per day. The heavy-use scenario used more screen time, navigation, calls, and exercise. These are manufacturer estimates, not universal results.

The watch used a dual-engine design with Snapdragon W5 and BES 2800 chips, a 1.5-inch LTPO display, more than 100 sports modes, and standard 22mm watchband support. OnePlus claimed that 10 minutes of charging could provide a day of use.

The trade-offs are Android-only compatibility, the required OHealth app, a large case, and a less mature health and app ecosystem than Apple, Google, or Garmin. Some camera-control and short-video features are specific to OnePlus and OPPO phones.

Buy it if: battery endurance is your priority and you use Android.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Skip it if: you use iPhone, have a small wrist, or want the most established health platform.

Garmin Venu 3: best fitness-first smartwatch

Best for: people who prioritize workouts, sleep, recovery, and battery life over apps and phone integration.

Venu 3 works with both Android and iPhone and offers a more fitness-centered experience than Apple Watch or Wear OS models. It is a strong middle ground for households using different phone platforms and for users who want several days of practical endurance.

Garmin’s compromise is the smartwatch layer. Messaging, apps, payments, voice assistants, and LTE are less capable or less central than on Apple, Google, and Samsung watches. Garmin’s training and recovery data may be valuable to committed athletes but excessive for someone who mainly wants notifications and steps. The Venu line should also be distinguished from Garmin’s more specialized Forerunner, Instinct, Fenix, and Epix families.

Buy it if: fitness data and charging less often matter more than a large app ecosystem.

Skip it if: you mainly want calls, rich notifications, LTE, or phone-like apps on your wrist.

Fitbit Charge 6: best budget fitness wearable

Best for: budget shoppers who want activity and sleep tracking, not a full smartwatch.

Google lists up to seven days of battery life, Sleep Score, cardio-fitness estimates, SmartTrack automatic workout recognition, SpO2, skin-temperature tracking, Stress Management Score, and notifications for the Charge 6 (Google).

Its smaller display and limited app platform mean it is not a substitute for a watch with LTE, navigation, calls, payments, or extensive apps. Some Fitbit insights and coaching may require Fitbit Premium. For steps, sleep, heart-rate trends, and basic workouts, however, the tracker form factor is lighter, cheaper, and longer-lasting than a full smartwatch.

Best choices by budget

Under $200

Look for Fitbit Charge 6, a discounted or refurbished Apple Watch SE 2, or an older Galaxy Watch. At this price, expect to sacrifice at least one of LTE, premium health sensors, display quality, software longevity, advanced safety features, or build quality. Check warranty and software support before choosing an older model.

$200–$350

This is the most competitive range for Android buyers. Galaxy Watch7, a discounted Pixel Watch 3, OnePlus Watch 3, or a discounted Garmin model can all make sense. Choose Galaxy for Samsung integration, Pixel for Fitbit and Google services, OnePlus for endurance, and Garmin for training.

$350–$500

Apple Watch Series 10, the larger or cellular Pixel Watch 3, Garmin Venu 3, and OnePlus Watch 3 are the most compelling options. Pay extra for LTE or a larger case only if you will use the feature; otherwise, GPS models are usually better value.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

$500 and above

Apple Watch Ultra 2, Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, and premium Garmin Fenix or Epix models target outdoor users and serious athletes. They offer larger cases, stronger outdoor positioning, durability, or longer endurance, but they are poor value for casual notification and step tracking.

Smartwatch or fitness tracker?

Choose a full smartwatch if you need calls and messages, installed apps, navigation, music controls or offline music, wallet payments, voice assistants, LTE, safety features, or a large interactive screen.

Choose a fitness tracker if you mainly want steps, sleep, heart-rate monitoring, basic exercise tracking, lightweight wearability, long battery life, and a lower price. The Fitbit Charge 6 belongs in this second category.

Battery, LTE, and ownership cost

  • Daily charging: Apple Watch Series 10.
  • About one to two days: Pixel Watch 3, depending on size and usage.
  • Several days: Galaxy Watch7 and OnePlus Watch 3, with GPS, LTE, calls, screen brightness, and health monitoring affecting results.
  • Nearly a week: Fitbit Charge 6 under its manufacturer rating.
  • Longer endurance: many Garmin models, depending on model and settings.

LTE requires carrier support and usually a monthly fee. It can keep calls, messages, navigation, streaming, and emergency communication working away from your phone, but it costs more and drains the battery faster. If you nearly always carry your phone, GPS-only is normally the sensible purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Calculate three-year ownership cost as hardware plus LTE service, Fitbit Premium if needed, replacement bands, chargers, extended warranty, and eventual battery or watch replacement. A cheap watch that requires paid coaching or an expensive cellular plan may not remain the cheapest option.

Health features: useful signals, not diagnoses

Consumer watches combine ordinary wellness estimates—steps, sleep stages, stress, readiness, and energy scores—with sensors such as heart rate, ECG, temperature, SpO2, accelerometers, and GPS. Some also offer regulated or medical-adjacent alerts, including irregular-rhythm notifications, fall detection, and sleep-apnea notifications.

Availability varies by country, model, software, regulatory authorization, age, phone, account, and required wear time. An ECG or alert can provide useful information, but it does not diagnose atrial fibrillation, sleep apnea, diabetes, or another condition. Samsung explicitly says its health features are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent disease (Samsung). Seek clinical confirmation for concerning results.

Fitness, comfort, and durability checks

  • Running and cycling: compare GPS behavior, training-load or recovery tools, and whether advanced metrics require a subscription.
  • Outdoor use: check for physical buttons, offline maps, navigation, sunlight readability, and battery performance with GPS enabled.
  • Fit: compare case size, thickness, weight, strap adjustment, and whether the watch is comfortable during sleep.
  • Small wrists: favor the smaller Apple, Pixel, or Galaxy case where available; large outdoor watches can be uncomfortable and unnecessarily heavy.
  • Water: 5ATM and IP68 are not universal waterproofing. Salt water, hot tubs, saunas, soap, pressure, and aging seals can cause damage. OnePlus specifically excludes hot showers, saunas, hot springs, deep diving, and diving from its 5ATM guidance (OnePlus).
  • Bands: standard 22mm bands, as supported by OnePlus Watch 3, can reduce accessory cost and improve choice; proprietary connectors can cost more.

Used and refurbished smartwatch checklist

  1. Check battery health and expected runtime.
  2. Confirm activation lock is removed.
  3. Check carrier lock and LTE compatibility.
  4. Inspect the case and screen for impact or water damage.
  5. Confirm the charger is included.
  6. Check the return window and warranty.
  7. Confirm the watch still receives the required phone operating system.
  8. Check whether regional health features are disabled on that model.

What not to buy

  • Do not buy Apple Watch for Android.
  • Do not buy OnePlus Watch 3 for iPhone.
  • Do not buy a premium rugged watch for basic notifications.
  • Do not buy a fitness tracker if you specifically need apps, navigation, calls, or LTE.
  • Do not treat a health alert as a replacement for clinical care.
  • Do not choose a large outdoor watch without checking wrist fit.

Bottom line

For the 2025 US market, buy by ecosystem first. Choose Apple Watch Series 10 for iPhone, Pixel Watch 3 for most Android users, Galaxy Watch7 for Samsung owners, OnePlus Watch 3 for Wear OS battery life, Garmin Venu 3 for fitness, and Fitbit Charge 6 when a tracker is all you need. The expensive flagship is rarely the best value unless its specific battery, durability, navigation, or health features match your routine.
