It is a personal selection from Tissot’s catalog at the time—not an official ranking or a guide to current availability. Use it to compare the watches’ intended roles, then check the exact reference and current specifications before buying.
How to read this 2022 shortlist
Sergeant published his five picks on Fratello on February 25, 2022. The order reflects his preferences, not an objective test or Tissot’s own ranking. The descriptions below preserve that historical frame. Of the five, the Seastar 2000 has a separate 2022 Tissot announcement supporting a detailed specification set; the other descriptions here reflect Sergeant’s account rather than a fresh audit of current references.

The five watches
1. Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 — integrated-bracelet retro sport
Sergeant describes the PRX as a recent success for Tissot, linking its design to 1978. The PRX returned in 2021, and he notes that the automatic Powermatic 80 version followed later that year. He reports an 80-hour power reserve. His preference for the automatic over the quartz option is a personal choice, not a claim that automatic watches are inherently better.
Consider this pick if you want a sportier everyday watch with an integrated-bracelet look and prefer an automatic movement. Confirm the precise PRX reference, size and movement: this historical recommendation does not establish that every current PRX has the same specification.

#1 Best Overall
- Case Size: 40.00 millimeter; Band Width: 12 millimeter; Case Thickness: 10.40 millimeter
- Swiss quartz movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type, date
- Stainless steel bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 meter / 330 feet): Suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
2. Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80 — professional dive watch
Sergeant’s weekend and tool-watch pick is a substantial 46 mm diver. In its February 18, 2022 Seastar announcement, Tissot specifies an automatic Powermatic 80 movement, anti-magnetic movement components, and water resistance up to 60 bar (600 m / 2,000 ft). The company also lists a ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, protected screw-down crown, Super-LumiNova details and an automatic helium escape valve. Tissot says the model is certified to ISO 6425:2018.
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. The case size and professional dive-watch feature set make this the most purpose-built tool watch on the shortlist; they may be more watch than someone seeking a slim, understated daily option wants.
Rank #2
- Case Size: 40.00 mm, Band Width: 20, Case Thickness: 8.25 mm
- Quartz movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type, Date, SuperLuminova-coated hands, enabling precise reading even in the dark, EOL (battery end-of-life indicator).
- Stainless steel strap/bracelet, interchangeable quick release bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
- 2 Year International Warranty
3. Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium — understated everyday automatic
Sergeant recommends the Gentleman for a restrained look that can be dressed up or down. He describes this variant as using a silicon hairspring, intended to support longevity and accuracy while resisting magnetic interference. Those are the article’s styling assessment and performance rationale; the evidence cited here is not a current, reference-specific technical audit.
Among the five, this is the natural direction to consider if you want a more conventional, versatile automatic rather than an integrated-bracelet design, a dedicated diver or a chronograph.

Rank #3
- COSC Certified Chronometer
- Case Size: 39.00 mm, Band Width: 20 mm, Case Thickness: 10.98 mm
- Automatic movement, 316L solid stainless steel bracelet, Roman dial type, Date
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
4. Tissot Supersport Chrono — racing-inspired chronograph
Sergeant positions the Supersport Chrono as a land-oriented, racing-inspired option for someone who wants chronograph styling without choosing a dive watch. His 2022 description lists stainless-steel construction, 100 m water resistance, a 30-minute counter and a 1/10-second subdial, with multiple color combinations available at the time.
Those details describe the article’s 2022 account, not every current variant. If the chronograph functions matter to you, verify the layout and specifications of the exact reference you are considering.
Rank #4
- Case Size: 40.00 mm, Band Width: 12, Case Thickness: 10.93 mm
- Automatic movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type, Date
- Stainless steel strap/bracelet, interchangeable quick release bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft)
- 2 Year International Warranty
5. Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Squelette Mechanical — open-worked mechanical design
This is the shortlist’s choice for a visible, semi-skeletonized mechanical design. Sergeant reported that it was officially sold out when he wrote in February 2022 and noted that a few examples were then listed on Chrono24. That dated observation says nothing reliable about stock today, so check current availability and the condition and provenance of any second-hand example.

| Pick | Best suited to | What distinguishes it in this shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| PRX Powermatic 80 | Everyday wear with retro integrated-bracelet styling | Automatic option; 80-hour power reserve reported by Sergeant in 2022 |
| Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80 | Dive-watch use and a tool-watch look | 46 mm case and manufacturer-stated 60 bar / 600 m / 2,000 ft water resistance in Tissot’s 2022 announcement |
| Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium | Versatile, understated automatic wear | Restrained styling and silicon hairspring as described by Sergeant in 2022 |
| Supersport Chrono | Racing-inspired styling and chronograph timing | Chronograph with 30-minute counter and 1/10-second subdial in Sergeant’s 2022 description |
| Chemin des Tourelles Squelette Mechanical | Mechanical-watch fans who want a more visible movement | Semi-skeletonized design; Sergeant’s sold-out note applies only to February 2022 |
Start with how you will wear the watch, then narrow the choice by movement preference, appearance, size and water-resistance needs. The PRX and Gentleman are both plausible everyday choices, but their styles differ; the Seastar is the explicitly dive-oriented pick, the Supersport adds chronograph functions, and the Chemin des Tourelles emphasizes its open-worked mechanical design.
What to verify before buying today
A 2022 shortlist cannot establish present-day stock, pricing or whether a model remains unchanged in Tissot’s current catalog. Before purchasing, compare the exact reference—not just the collection name—against the seller’s listing and Tissot’s current product information. Check:
- Reference number, case dimensions and movement.
- Water-resistance rating and the specific use you intend; a rating alone does not establish that a watch is suitable for every water activity.
- Condition, included components, warranty terms and seller details, especially for discontinued or pre-owned examples.
- Current price and availability from the seller you plan to use.
Tissot’s 2022 release also discusses the Seastar 1000 Quartz in 36 mm, with 30 bar (300 m / 1,000 ft) water resistance. That is a different model from the Seastar 2000 above; do not transfer its size, specifications or strap details to the 2000.
