Claude Meylan’s Tortue Rainbow is a hand-wound skeleton watch built to put its movement on display. In a 2019 feature, Fratello Watches described the model with a 40 mm black-PVD-coated stainless-steel case, sapphire crystals on both sides, a rubber strap and 30 metres of water resistance. Its signature visual detail is a colored plate—or “brace”—visible among the movement’s openwork.
What “skeleton” means in Claude Meylan’s work
In its March 18, 2019 feature, Fratello Watches presented skeletonisation as Claude Meylan’s signature craft: removing material from a movement to expose its structure while retaining performance and adding visual appeal. The result is less about concealing the mechanism beneath a solid dial and more about making its parts and finish part of the watch’s appearance.
The feature traced the brand’s reestablishment to 1988. It also noted that many Claude Meylan movement architectures were based on older Unitas movements, whose simple, robust character and room for customization suited the brand’s work. That is a broad description in the 2019 article, not a confirmed caliber identification for the Tortue Rainbow.
What distinguishes the Tortue Rainbow
The Tortue Rainbow belongs to Claude Meylan’s Tortue family. Its skeletonised movement is accented by a colored “brace” plate. Fratello described seven rainbow-colour iterations in 2019; the variants were presented as color choices, not as technically different versions.

Price and what is known today
Fratello reported a retail price of €4,412 excluding VAT for the seven Tortue Rainbow models when its feature was published on March 18, 2019. That is a historical figure, not a current price. Present-day availability, pricing, water-resistance documentation and authorized sales channels are not established by that account.
