Its dark case and dial are punctuated by vivid yellow and colored counters, so “stealthy” describes the dark materials—not a subdued overall look. Zenith specifies 20 ATM water resistance and at least 50 hours of power reserve; those are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.
What makes the Defy Extreme Carbon chronograph distinctive?
The El Primero 9004 has two independent escapements: one runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) for timekeeping, while the other runs at 360,000 vibrations per hour (50 Hz) for the chronograph. Zenith says the central chronograph hand completes one rotation per second, allowing the mechanism to measure hundredths of a second. The movement is automatic, and Zenith specifies a minimum 50-hour power reserve. Zenith’s product page identifies the movement as El Primero 21; the brand’s January 2022 press release and specification sheet names it El Primero 9004.

Zenith Defy Classic Automatic Skeletal Dial Titanium Men's Watch 95.9000.670/78.R584 | $7,000.00 | Buy on Amazon |
Zenith gives the watch a 20 ATM water-resistance rating. This is a published specification, not evidence of independent water-resistance testing for this article.
How large is it, and what is it made of?
The case measures 45 mm across. Zenith describes the case, crown and pushers as layered carbon fibre, with microblasted titanium used for the twelve-sided bezel and pusher protectors. The combination gives the watch a dark, technical appearance while the multi-layered dial’s accents keep it from reading as entirely monochrome. Wempe lists the exact reference at 152 g; that is retailer-listed weight, not a measurement made here. Its listing also specifies a sapphire caseback. Wempe’s U.S. listing

What does the dial look like?
The open, multi-layered dial uses tinted sapphire to reveal the movement beneath. Yellow chronograph-scale markers and colored counters, which Zenith says draw inspiration from Extreme E race schemes, contrast with the dark carbon-and-titanium execution. The exposed architecture and bright timing details make visual legibility and mechanical display part of the same design rather than hiding the movement behind a conventional solid dial.
Can you change the straps?
Yes. Zenith says the watch is supplied with three options: black textured rubber, red textured rubber and black Velcro. Its case-back quick-change mechanism lets the wearer switch straps without tools, according to the maker’s 2022 release. That confirms the included system; it does not establish the availability or compatibility of third-party replacement straps.
What is known about wrist fit?
Craig Karger, reviewing a Forged Carbon version for Wrist Enthusiast, wrote that the 45 mm watch fit his 6.75-inch wrist, while describing it as somewhat large. He also preferred a simple tang buckle to the deployant buckle’s available sizing positions. Those are one reviewer’s observations and preference, not a fit guarantee for other wrists; the review’s “Forged Carbon” wording also does not establish that every detail applies identically to every execution.
