What launched in September 2026?
In an announcement dated 4 September 2026, A. Lange & Söhne introduced two versions of the 1815 UP/DOWN: reference 244.028 in 750 white gold and reference 244.037 in 750 pink gold. The brand said both would be presented at the 2026 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. Each is limited to 300 watches, according to the manufacturer’s announcement.
The two references share the stated movement and core dimensions. Their specified differences are case metal and strap color; the available manufacturer information does not establish a mechanical distinction between them.

What is new about the 1815 UP/DOWN?
The 2026 white-gold reference measures 37.5 mm across and 8.7 mm high. That is 1.5 mm smaller in diameter than the earlier white-gold reference 234.026, listed by the brand at 39 mm; both are listed at 8.7 mm in height. The new version retains the L051.2 calibre and its 72-hour power reserve. These are specification comparisons, not evidence of a change in wrist fit, comfort, accuracy or real-world performance.

How does the UP/DOWN reserve display work?
The indicator at 8 o’clock shows the movement’s winding state, opposite the subsidiary seconds. “AB” (DOWN) marks an unwound movement; “AUF” (UP) indicates that it is fully wound. The manufacturer describes the indicator as integrated directly into the movement through a space-saving planetary gear system rather than added as a separate module. The brand says the fully wound movement provides a maximum reserve of 72 hours.

What are the dial and movement details?
Blue dial and gold-specific straps
The dial is made of 925 silver and has argenté auxiliary dials, with a blued seconds hand. The white-gold reference is paired with a blue alligator strap, while the pink-gold version has a reddish-brown strap.
Manually wound L051.2
The L051.2 is a manufacture calibre with 245 parts, a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour (3.0 Hz) and a stated 72-hour power reserve. The product listing specifies 3 bar water resistance.

A. Lange & Söhne describes the movement’s finishing as including an untreated German-silver three-quarter plate, solarised winding wheels, seven gold chatons secured by blued screws and a hand-engraved balance cock. The brand also specifies a screw balance, an indexless oscillation system and an in-house balance spring. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test findings.
