Michael Stockton’s two-week wear review of the 2018 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition finds a watch whose appeal lies in how titanium, tantalum and Sedna gold are combined—not simply in its two-tone appearance. He praises its finishing and distinctiveness, while questioning the broad clasp, showy edition-number detail and helium valve. His review was published on January 29, 2019, so its price and expected delivery date are historical, not current buying information.
What is the Titanium Tantalum Seamaster?
It is a 42 mm, no-date Seamaster Diver 300M limited edition from 2018, produced in a stated run of 2,500 pieces. In his Fratello review, Michael Stockton presents it as a less-discussed addition to that year’s Seamaster 300M line and as a callback to the 1993-era Seamaster Chronograph reference 2296.80, another model featuring tantalum. The review characterizes that earlier watch as expensive and unpopular at launch, later becoming a cult favorite among enthusiasts; that is the reviewer’s account of its reception.
The movement is Omega’s in-house automatic caliber 8806, and the review identifies the watch as METAS Master Chronometer certified. Other reported specifications include a NAIAD display back, unidirectional bezel, screw-down crown and helium valve. Stockton describes the lume as greenish-blue Super-LumiNova. The review does not give thickness, lug-to-lug measurement, weight, power reserve or water-resistance depth.
How the three metals are used
From a distance, the watch can read as a two-tone diver. Close up, the different metals give it a more specific character: titanium makes up most of the case, bracelet and grey dial; tantalum appears in selected bracelet links and beneath the bezel; and Sedna gold provides the warmer accents.
#1 Best Overall
- Model 210.90.42.20.01.001
- Titanium: The dominant case and bracelet material, as well as the dial, whose raised wave lines distinguish it from the incised waves Stockton describes on ceramic-dialed models.
- Tantalum: Used for smaller bracelet links and as the underlying rotating bezel material, adding a darker contrast to the titanium.
- Sedna gold: Used on the bezel insert, crowns, hands and indices, bracelet details, and the applique bearing the limited-edition number.
Stockton particularly draws attention to the bracelet’s contrasting link finishes and to metal detailing visible from the reverse of the end links. The bezel also differs from the ceramic inserts on the standard models discussed in the review: its Sedna gold insert has polished raised markings against a sandblasted background and sits within a rotating tantalum bezel. Stockton finds the effect elegant, though he notes that the insert does not have lume.
What the two-week wrist review says about wearing it
Stockton says he began with reservations about some design choices and warmed to the watch after about a week. His strongest praise is for the three-metal execution, finishing and bracelet articulation. He describes the links as moving comfortably and the push-button microadjustment as smooth, but still finds the clasp broad and thick.

He also considers the limited-edition number applique nicely made but somewhat showy. The helium valve is another point of personal disagreement: he sees it as unnecessary for his preferred case design, while noting that its conical shape and subdued Sedna gold tone make it less intrusive. These are Stockton’s preferences from his own wear, not a universal assessment of fit or use.
What the review’s price and delivery details mean now
The January 2019 article reported a German price of €12,100. Its comparisons were also publication-era figures: €8,900 for a gold-and-steel Seamaster 300M on bracelet and €12,700 for a two-tone Rolex Submariner. They are not current prices or a present-day value comparison.

- Model 212.30.44.52.01.001
The article said boutique delivery was expected in March 2019. Comments on the page discuss uncertainty about shipment and website availability, but neither those comments nor the review establish whether the edition is currently available, what it costs now, or whether it is in stock at any particular seller. Anyone seeking one should verify the exact titanium/tantalum edition rather than assume a listing for a standard steel Seamaster 300M is equivalent.
Is it a prototype, and why did the reviewer sell it?
A reader’s January 2019 comment asked whether the watch existed beyond a prototype, reflecting uncertainty during delayed delivery. The review identifies it as a limited edition of 2,500 pieces, but that historical production statement does not prove current production or availability. Stockton’s review does not establish why he later sold the watch; the question cannot be answered from this source.

What the review does—and does not—establish
Stockton’s overall verdict is positive: he calls the watch distinctive and enjoyable, and his two-week account gives particular weight to its finishing, bracelet and material contrasts. It is a firsthand review, not a long-term ownership report. It does not establish long-term reliability, independent timing results, service costs or a generalized fit assessment.
