Mobvoi has not announced that it is leaving the smartwatch market. But the evidence points to a retreat: TicWatch listings reportedly disappeared from Amazon and parts of Mobvoi’s US storefront in late 2025, the company offered no new watch roadmap, and its public product mix increasingly emphasizes AI hardware such as TicNote.
That is different from saying TicWatches are gone. As of the latest verification available for August 16, 2026, Mobvoi’s website still referenced TicWatch products, while Google’s official Wear OS site continued to list the TicWatch Atlas, TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro, and TicWatch Pro 5. The accurate conclusion is that TicWatch has become harder to buy and less strategically clear—not that Mobvoi has formally abandoned smartwatches.

TicWatch listings disappeared, but Mobvoi has not called it quits
The trigger for the concern was a report published on December 9, 2025. It found that TicWatch listings had disappeared from Amazon and that TicWatch products were no longer visible in the main Products menu on Mobvoi’s US homepage. Existing product pages reportedly showed the watches as unavailable. Android Central reported the retail changes and Mobvoi’s response.

Mobvoi’s response was also carefully limited. According to the report, the company said it had “no new information to announce about the TicWatch lineup” and that existing devices would continue receiving “essential support.” That wording does not amount to a commitment to a new watch, a major Wear OS upgrade, Gemini, or a defined number of years of updates.
The later status check makes the story more complicated. As of August 16, 2026, Mobvoi’s official website still presented TicWatch products, including a TicWatch Atlas reference, and Google’s Wear OS site still listed several Mobvoi watches. TicWatches therefore vanished from important retail channels, not from every official web presence.
Bottom line: Mobvoi appears to be reducing TicWatch’s retail visibility and strategic importance, but it has not publicly confirmed a smartwatch exit.

The TicWatch Atlas may still be Mobvoi’s latest major watch
Mobvoi’s recent Wear OS history helps explain why buyers are uneasy. The TicWatch Pro 5 and TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro established the company’s recent premium lineup, while the TicWatch Atlas launched in October 2024. The Atlas remains the latest known major TicWatch launch in the available reporting.
That does not prove it is the final TicWatch. It does show that Mobvoi has not presented buyers with a clear successor roadmap. The reported software history adds to the uncertainty: some TicWatch Pro 5-series devices received Wear OS 4 in late 2024, while Android Central said the Atlas had not received Wear OS 5 or Gemini at the time of its December 2025 coverage. Those claims describe the status reported at that time, not a permanent policy for every model or region.
For buyers, the practical issue is not simply whether the Atlas or a Pro 5 can still be found. It is whether the watch will continue to receive the software and services that make Wear OS useful several years after purchase.
Mobvoi is giving AI more public attention
Mobvoi’s current website places TicNote AI alongside TicWatch and treadmill products. The company describes TicNote as an AI notetaking product intended to record, transcribe, and summarize meetings, classes, or calls. That is a meaningful change in emphasis: Mobvoi is presenting itself as a broader AI and connected-device company rather than only a smartwatch maker.
It would be too strong to say TicNote has replaced TicWatch or that Mobvoi has pivoted entirely to AI. The available evidence does not establish revenue, investment, or product-priority figures. The safer conclusion is that AI now occupies a more visible place in Mobvoi’s public portfolio while the TicWatch lineup lacks a clear next-generation announcement.
Why smaller Wear OS brands struggle to keep pace
Wear OS gives watchmakers access to Google apps and services, but it also makes them dependent on Google’s platform development and integration work. A manufacturer must support hardware variants, test updates, maintain companion software, meet certification requirements, and handle regional differences in payments, cellular connectivity, and health features.
Google and Samsung have generally been best positioned to deliver major Wear OS experiences early. The reported Mobvoi timeline illustrates the disadvantage: Android Central characterized Mobvoi as taking roughly two years to bring Wear OS 3 to older watches and beginning its Wear OS 4 rollout after Google and Samsung had moved on to Wear OS 5.
That does not mean every non-Google or non-Samsung watch is unsupported, nor that every update arrives globally at the same time. Timing varies by manufacturer, model, region, and software branch. But delayed updates reduce the value of the platform’s main selling point: access to current Google services and apps.
Google’s official Wear OS page still lists products from Google, Samsung, Mobvoi, OnePlus, OPPO, Xiaomi, TAG Heuer, and Montblanc. The platform is therefore not limited to two brands, and the list does not prove that every listed model remains broadly available or has a long-term roadmap. The more precise concern is that fewer smaller manufacturers appear willing or able to sustain a multi-generation Wear OS business.
Wear OS is not dead—but it is becoming more concentrated
There are two different questions here.
- Is the Wear OS platform still active? Yes. Google continues to promote the platform and its ecosystem of apps and manufacturers.
- Is Wear OS becoming a healthy, broadly competitive hardware market? That is less certain. Google and Samsung increasingly define the newest software experience, while smaller brands face greater update and support risk.
This distinction matters to TicWatch owners. Mobvoi hardware can continue working even if Mobvoi’s strategic commitment weakens. But a watch’s useful life depends on more than its processor, sensors, and battery. It also depends on the companion app, account servers, Google Play services, payment support, security fixes, replacement parts, and compatibility with future phones.
What “essential support” means for current TicWatch owners
Mobvoi’s phrase “essential support” has no publicly defined scope in the cited reporting. It could include customer service, warranty handling, account and server continuity, bug fixes, or security maintenance. It should not automatically be interpreted as a promise of major Wear OS upgrades or new Google features.
Think of smartwatch support as several separate layers:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Customer service and warranty: help with faults, returns, and covered repairs.
- Service continuity: the companion app, account login, and cloud-dependent features continue to function.
- Security and bug fixes: patches and corrections for existing software.
- Operating-system upgrades: a new Wear OS generation for the watch.
- New Google services: features such as newer assistant, health, payment, or messaging experiences.
- Parts availability: replacement bands, chargers, batteries, and repair components.
The statement reasonably suggests some continuing support for existing devices, but it does not guarantee the final three categories. Owners should judge their watch by its actual software status rather than by its model name or a retailer’s remaining inventory.
Check your TicWatch’s software version
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap System.
- Tap About.
- Tap Versions.
- Record both the Wear OS or Android OS version and the system version.
These are the steps in Google’s Wear OS support instructions. To update watch apps, open the Play Store on the watch, swipe down from the top, tap My Apps, and install available updates or choose Update all.
Operating-system upgrades are manufacturer-specific. Google warns that a Wear OS upgrade can factory-reset a watch, erase data, unpair it from the phone, and require a different companion app. A Wear OS watch can connect to only one phone at a time; moving it to another phone generally requires disconnecting it and performing a factory reset. See Google’s setup and reset guidance before buying or resetting a used TicWatch.
Payments and iPhone compatibility need special attention
Google Wallet on Wear OS requires Wear OS 2.0 or newer, NFC hardware, a supported country or region, updated Google Play services, the Wallet app, and a supported card. Wallet may not work on watches with modified software, unlocked bootloaders, custom ROMs, or unapproved firmware. Requirements are detailed in Google’s Wallet documentation.
Phone compatibility is equally important. Google says Wear OS 3 devices are not compatible with the older Wear OS app, and Wear 3 devices do not support Google Wallet and Google Maps when paired with iOS. Android users generally have the broadest compatibility. iPhone owners should not assume a newer Wear OS watch will offer an Apple Watch-like experience.

A remaining TicWatch can still make sense, but only if the discount compensates for the uncertainty and the seller offers a reliable return policy.
A TicWatch may be reasonable if:
- You value Mobvoi’s long battery life and dual-display design.
- You want rugged hardware and the exact features already available on the watch.
- The price is substantially below newer alternatives.
- You have verified the OS version, phone compatibility, payment support, warranty, and return period.
- You are comfortable treating major future upgrades as uncertain.
Choose another platform if:
- Security updates and a clearly stated long-term roadmap are priorities.
- You need the newest Google services or assistant features.
- You depend on Google Wallet, cellular connectivity, or health functions that may require current software.
- You are buying for several years rather than taking advantage of a short-term clearance price.
- Replacement batteries, chargers, or warranty repairs must remain easy to obtain.
Do not buy a TicWatch solely because it promises long battery life. Battery endurance remains a genuine strength, but it may not offset an uncertain software pipeline.
Alternatives for new Android smartwatch buyers
Google Pixel Watch is the clearest Google-first choice for buyers who prioritize direct integration and timely platform features. Its trade-offs are typically shorter battery endurance and less rugged outdoor positioning than a TicWatch-style design. Start with the official Wear OS product listings and Google Store availability in your market.

Some health and ecosystem features may be optimized for Samsung phones, so non-Samsung users should check the exact model’s compatibility before buying.
OnePlus Watch is worth considering for buyers attracted to Wear OS performance and longer battery life. Google lists the OnePlus Watch 2 and Watch 2R, but update timing should be checked for the exact model rather than inferred from another OnePlus watch.
OPPO and Xiaomi watches can be credible choices in markets where they are officially sold. Availability, warranty coverage, cellular bands, health features, regional software, and Google services can vary considerably by country.
Garmin and other proprietary platforms are often better fits for buyers whose real priorities are training, outdoor navigation, and long battery life. They are not one-for-one replacements for Wear OS: Google Wallet, Gmail, Google Maps, Gemini, and other services may be absent or work differently.

A practical buying checklist
Before purchasing any Wear OS watch—especially clearance stock—confirm:
- The exact Wear OS version currently installed.
- The manufacturer’s update policy for that model.
- Whether the companion app is still maintained and compatible with your phone.
- Warranty coverage and local repair options.
- Battery condition if buying used or refurbished.
- Google Wallet, cellular, and health-feature availability in your country.
- Whether the product is current-generation hardware or old clearance stock.
- Whether the desired Google features actually work on that model.
- The seller’s return policy.
That checklist is more useful than asking only whether a watch is still listed for sale. A retailer can still have inventory after a manufacturer’s software strategy has moved on.
The verdict on Mobvoi and Wear OS
Mobvoi’s TicWatch business shows signs of contraction: retail listings disappeared in late 2025, the company supplied no clear successor roadmap, and AI products now receive more visible attention. Yet the evidence does not support declaring a confirmed smartwatch exit. Official Mobvoi and Google pages still referenced TicWatch products as of August 16, 2026, and Mobvoi said existing watches would receive essential support.
For current owners, there is no reason to assume an immediate loss of functionality. For new buyers, however, the risk calculation has changed. A discounted TicWatch may still deliver good hardware and battery life, but Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch, OnePlus, OPPO, or Xiaomi offer more compelling alternatives when current software and a visible product roadmap matter. Wear OS remains active; its hardware future is simply becoming more dependent on a smaller number of companies with the scale to keep updating it.
