“Into the Wild” is not a single product line. At Cartier it names three different things: a storytelling world built around the panther and other animals, a travelling immersive exhibition, and a fine-jewelry collection that Japanese magazine coverage reported in September 2026 as launching in October 2026. Each use sits on the same foundation, the Maison’s long-running animal imagery, but they answer different questions, so it helps to separate them before looking at the jewelry.
Three meanings of “Into the Wild”
| Usage | What it refers to | Status and source |
|---|---|---|
| Storytelling world | Five fables in which the panther meets other animals from the Maison’s repertoire, presented within the “Faune et Flore” animal world on Cartier’s official Brazil page | Current page content, market-specific presentation (Cartier, Brazil page) |
| Immersive exhibition | A travelling exhibition on the panther’s history and style, shown in Guangzhou and later in Tokyo | Guangzhou account in Cartier’s “A Year Around the World” retrospective; the Tokyo run of October 22 to November 3, 2025 has ended |
| Fine-jewelry collection | Animal-head rings, plus crocodile and tiger bracelets and necklaces | Reported by madameFIGARO.jp on September 9, 2026; launch reported for October 2026 |
The panther and Cartier’s wider animal world
Cartier’s animal universe is built around the panther. The Brazil page describes its fauna and flora as drawing creative vitality from a vision of wild nature, and states, in Portuguese, that “Neste mundo animal e vegetal, povoado por criaturas magnéticas e singulares, reina a emblemática Pantera.” Translation: “In this animal and plant world, populated by singular, magnetic creatures, the emblematic Panther reigns.” Around that emblem, the page presents stylized animal heads and animal jewelry watches as expressions of the Maison’s savoir-faire.
How the panther became a symbol
Cartier’s own account, given in a October 9, 2025 press release from Richemont Japan distributed through PR TIMES, dates the panther’s first appearance to 1914, when it was used as a spot motif on a wristwatch. The original Japanese sentence reads: “1914年、腕時計に初めてスポッツモチーフとして登場した「パンテール」。” Translation: “In 1914, the ‘Panther’ first appeared as a spots motif on a wristwatch.”
The same release credits Jeanne Toussaint, who served as Cartier’s creative director from the 1930s for about four decades, with breathing life into the image and raising it to the status of a Cartier symbol. The release states that Toussaint “deu vida” to the panther. This is Cartier’s description of its own history; it is not a direct quotation from Toussaint.

The five fables
Cartier’s Brazil page presents five “Fábulas Into the wild” in which the panther encounters animals from the Maison’s repertoire. The page frames these as the way the panther’s animal world is told, rather than as a separate product. This overview does not reproduce the individual storylines.
The immersive exhibitions
The exhibition used the same title but was a separate experience. Cartier’s retrospective on the Guangzhou installation describes a journey through the panther’s history and style. Visitors passed through an olfactory room, a cinema room, a recreation of Jeanne Toussaint’s office, and a library where they could create their own panther style.
A Tokyo edition ran from October 22 to November 3, 2025 at Maison de Panthère in Ginza. According to Cartier Japan’s announcement, it combined historical, design and craft content with an animation, character materials by manga artist Naoki Urasawa, and audio guides narrated by actors Tomoko Yamaguchi and Yuta Tamamori. The event has ended and is not open to visitors.
The 2026 fine-jewelry collection
The most recent coverage comes from madameFIGARO.jp, which reported on September 9, 2026 that Cartier’s latest Into The Wild fine-jewelry collection was to launch in October 2026. The article describes sculptural head rings shaped as a rhinoceros, koi, tiger, parrot and crocodile, along with crocodile and tiger bracelets and necklaces. It contrasts realistic animal heads with flexible bodies rendered in abstract, graphic forms.

What the coverage does not establish
- Specific stones, materials and dimensions for each piece are not stated in the reported coverage.
- No Cartier launch page for these specific pieces was available to check, so the details rest on a single secondary publication.
- No sales figures, market-size data or performance statistics for the collection are published in the sources.
- No named artisan or designer is quoted about the 2026 pieces.
Comparing pieces in this collection
When you compare the reported pieces, the most useful distinctions are the animal motif, the silhouette, whether the form is sculptural (a fully realised animal head) or flexible (a body built from abstract, graphic elements), and the wearing format: ring, bracelet or necklace. Stone and metal specifications are the next thing to check once Cartier publishes official product details. Local price and availability should be confirmed directly with a Cartier boutique in your market.
