Timex described a 39 mm case and Japanese automatic movement, while specifications for the EU bracelet reference TW2W58800 include Miyota automatic movement, 50 m water resistance and a 9 mm case height.
What Timex announced
Timex’s announcement, “A nod to mod: Sharpen up with our Marlin Automatic sub-dial”, was published on 28 February 2023. The brand framed the watch as a tribute to 1960s Mod culture and its own watchmaking history. That is Timex’s design description, rather than an independent historical assessment.
The launch article introduced three versions and described a 39 mm case. Its design details include a cushion-style case, full Arabic dial, railroad minute track, date window and red-handed sub-dial at 9 o’clock. Timex’s video description published 29 March 2023 also presents the watch as a modern-retro update to its 1960s Marlin, highlighting the Arabic dial, date, 24-hour sub-dial and stainless-steel case.
What the 24-hour sub-dial does
The sub-dial at 9 o’clock displays time in a 24-hour format, indicated by a red sweep hand. Timex called it a first for the Marlin family in its launch announcement. The sources describe it as a 24-hour display; they do not establish that it is a chronograph or a second-time-zone display.

Specifications vary by regional reference
The launch article gives a 39 mm case and Japanese automatic movement. The official EU listing provides more detail for the stainless-steel bracelet model TW2W58800. These figures belong to that listed reference and should not be assumed to apply unchanged to every Marlin variant.

These specifications are listed on the Timex EU product page for TW2W58800. The launch announcement itself does not state the case height, weight or water-resistance rating.

Availability depends on market and time
When the regional pages were crawled, Timex EU marked TW2W58800 “Out of Stock,” while the Timex Philippines page showed “Only 1 item in stock.” Those are time-sensitive listing snapshots, not a guarantee of present availability. Check the relevant regional page before relying on stock status or price.
The India listing uses reference TW2W58800UJ. It describes a 39 mm tonneau-shaped automatic watch, acrylic glass, a 20 mm strap width, 50 m water resistance and a one-year warranty against manufacturer defects on that portal. The page’s specification table also labels the power source “Battery” while describing the movement as “Mechanical Automatic”; because those entries conflict, the battery label should not be treated as a settled specification. What the available specifications do—and do not—tell you
The announcement and regional product pages establish the watch’s design and certain model-specific specifications, but they are not a hands-on review. The reviewed official sources do not provide an independent accuracy test, long-term reliability assessment, movement caliber number or launch price. Current prices and stock can change, and the regional suffixes and terms matter when checking a particular listing.
