Is the 36 mm Marlin Chatham the same watch?
That is not established by the available official product information. A Timex Japan search result surfaced the name “Marlin Chatham Automatic” with a 36 mm by 36 mm dimension, and a secondary article’s search result also referred to 36 mm Chatham models. But the Japanese page and the article could not be retrieved for usable product details. In particular, the confirmed 37 mm Draper dimensions, movement details, materials, and Philippine prices cannot be carried over to a Chatham without an official listing for that exact model.
What is known about movement and crystal differences across the Marlin line?
Timex’s current US listing for Marlin Automatic reference TW2V44600 describes a separate 40 mm model with a Japan-made Miyota 8215 automatic movement, 21 jewels, and approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The same TW2V44600 page describes its crystal as acrylic, noting that it is impact resistant and can be polished to remove scuffs, but scratches more readily than harder crystal materials. That description applies to TW2V44600 only. The Philippines Draper listings specify flat mineral crystal instead.
Why the Marlin name carries mid-century associations
Timex’s October 5, 2018 announcement presented the Marlin Automatic as a reissue of a classic 1960s design, now with an automatic mechanical movement. The company said the collection would launch on October 1, 2018, and listed a launch price of $249 at that time. Does the cushion-case Marlin “go global”?
The evidence confirms current Timex Philippines listings for the Draper, but it does not establish a global rollout or identify launch markets beyond those listings. The Japanese search result is insufficient to confirm a Chatham sale there, and it does not show whether that name refers to the Draper. No verified Chatham reference, movement, crystal, or official price outside the Philippines is available here. For buyers, the practical check is to search the local Timex site by exact model name and reference number rather than assuming a listing in one country applies elsewhere.
How to compare Marlin automatics without mixing up models
Use the reference number as the anchor, then compare the actual listing for case dimensions and shape, movement and stated reserve, crystal, band, water resistance, price, and country. The documented TW2V44600, for example, is a 40 mm model with acrylic crystal, while the Philippines Draper is 37 mm with mineral crystal; the available Chatham details are too limited for a complete comparison.
