Tissot listed each at $1,100 on its US product page when checked for this article; prices and availability can change. COSC certification indicates that a movement passed the relevant chronometer tests, but it is not a promise of identical real-world accuracy on every wrist.
What distinguishes the two Ballade COSC references?
The clearest differences in the two cited US references are case diameter and power reserve. The 39 mm model also has a published 20 mm lug width and additional listed detail about its dial and case thickness.

Specifications and prices above refer only to these particular references on Tissot’s US pages, not every Ballade colorway or regional version. Tissot’s current listings are the 39 mm T1564081109300 and the 30 mm T1562081103300.
39 mm: the longer reserve and more documented fit details
The 39 mm reference is 10.98 mm thick, has a 20 mm lug width, and is listed with a green dial, Roman indices, and Super-LumiNova on the hands. Its 80-hour reserve provides 32 more hours than the 30 mm reference. A quick-release bracelet makes the bracelet removable, but lug width alone does not establish that any third-party quick-release strap will fit correctly.

30 mm: a smaller case, shorter reserve
The 30 mm reference retains the cited models’ automatic COSC movement, Nivachron balance spring, date, 100 m water resistance, sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating, see-through caseback, and quick-release steel bracelet. Tissot lists a 48-hour reserve for this reference. The cited product information does not specify its thickness or lug width.
What COSC certification means—and what it does not
Tissot describes COSC testing as a 15-day battery of movement tests for accuracy, anti-magnetism, and resistance to impact. That is Tissot’s explanation on its product information; COSC’s 2025 General Terms and Conditions say a chronometer certificate is awarded after the relevant tests are passed and specify eligibility conditions for submitted Swiss timepieces. See COSC’s General Terms and Conditions, Edition 7.

Certification applies to the movement’s performance under the relevant testing regime. It does not establish how a particular watch will perform in an individual wearer’s daily conditions, nor do the cited passages provide a Ballade-specific daily-rate tolerance. The 15-day description is attributable to Tissot, not to the cited 2025 COSC terms.

Tissot’s US pages displayed $1,100 for both references at the time of research. This is a listed US price, not a guarantee of current pricing or stock. The matching displayed prices mean the cited listings do not show a price premium for the 39 mm model, despite its longer reserve; they do not by themselves establish comparative value against other watches.

Tissot says the Ballade was relaunched in 2024 for its 30th anniversary and that an automatic COSC-certified version followed in 2025. That history and the specifications make the Ballade COSC a clearly defined option for shoppers considering a Swiss-certified automatic watch in either a 30 mm or 39 mm case. The available evidence here does not establish wear comfort, bracelet feel, measured accuracy outside certification, or long-term reliability, so those judgments require an individual evaluation rather than inference from the specification sheet. Tissot’s timeline appears in its Ballade COSC pressroom release.
