The Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G is a two-tone, 41 mm steel chronograph with yellow-gold details, a fixed tachymeter bezel and 200 m water resistance. Its defining choice is as much about appearance and wear as specifications: buy it on the riveted steel-and-gold bracelet, the brown leather Bund strap, or black fabric. The bracelet gives it the most visibly formal, substantial look; the Bund shifts it toward a vintage style; fabric is the simpler, more casual option. The watch’s 14.4 mm thickness is worth checking in person if you prefer a low-profile case.
What is the Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G?
S&G means steel and yellow gold. Tudor describes reference 79363N as a 316L stainless-steel watch with polished and satin finishing, a fixed yellow-gold bezel and a matte black anodized aluminum tachymeter disc. The crown and chronograph pushers screw down. The domed dial comes in black with gold or champagne counters, or champagne with black counters; the date sits at six o’clock. A domed sapphire crystal covers the dial.
Tudor specifies water resistance of 200 m (660 ft). That is a manufacturer rating, not a claim that the watch is a dedicated dive instrument. The chronograph and tachymeter are prominent parts of the design, while the two-tone case and bezel make the S&G less restrained than an all-steel Black Bay Chrono. Tudor’s current M79363N-0003 product page lists a 41 mm diameter, 14.4 mm thickness and 22 mm lug width.
How does the MT5813 movement perform on paper?
The MT5813 is Tudor’s self-winding mechanical chronograph calibre, wound by a bidirectional rotor. Tudor states that it is officially COSC-certified. The movement provides central hour and minute hands, central chronograph seconds, a 45-minute counter at three, small seconds at nine, and an instantaneous date at six with rapid adjustment. Stop-seconds allow the hands to halt while setting the time.

These are Tudor’s published specifications, not independent measurements of an individual watch. The reserve gives some flexibility if the watch is taken off for a day or two, but a chronograph’s advertised reserve does not by itself establish real-world accuracy or performance.
Which configuration should you choose?
Tudor documents three factory wearing configurations for the reference family. The dial and reference suffix vary across individual listings, so confirm the exact model code and dial before comparing offers. The visual and closure distinctions are clearer than any universal comfort ranking: how each feels depends on wrist shape, fit and personal preference.

Will it fit your wrist?
The key published dimensions are 41 mm across, 14.4 mm thick and 22 mm between the lugs. Diameter alone does not tell the whole fit story: thickness can affect how the watch sits beneath a cuff, while wrist shape and strap or bracelet fit influence how its size feels. If you prefer a flatter watch or are between sizes, trying the S&G on is especially useful.

The 2024 Chrono Pursuit review’s description of the bracelet as substantial may help set expectations, but it is a reviewer’s impression rather than a measured weight or universal comfort verdict. Its three micro-adjustment positions offer some clasp adjustment according to that review; it also notes there is no quick adjustment or diver’s extension. Consider whether those details matter to your intended wear, and assess the fit yourself where possible.

- Exact reference and dial: M79363N suffixes identify individual configurations. Match the dial color and strap or bracelet to the listing rather than relying on “S&G” alone.
- Configuration: Decide whether you want the bracelet’s continuous two-tone appearance, the leather Bund’s vintage character or the fabric strap’s simpler look.
- Dimensions: Compare the 41 mm diameter and 14.4 mm thickness with watches you already find comfortable; the 22 mm lug width is relevant if you are considering strap options.

If searching for a general accessory, “22 mm watch strap” is a reasonable starting phrase because Tudor lists a 22 mm lug width. Width alone does not guarantee end-link or attachment compatibility, so verify fit for the exact M79363N reference before buying any third-party strap.

Verdict: is the Black Bay Chrono S&G right for you?
The S&G makes the most sense for someone who wants a visibly two-tone chronograph and likes the choice between three distinct factory styles. Its published movement specification is strong on paper, and the 200 m water-resistance rating adds versatility, but the design’s gold accents, chronograph counters and 14.4 mm case are not subtle. Choose the bracelet if you want the integrated steel-and-gold look, the Bund leather if its vintage character is the point, or fabric if you prefer a less ornate strap presentation. The best choice is the one whose appearance and fit you are happy to wear.
