It has the clearer advantages in battery life and subscription-free ownership. Oura Ring 5 remains the lower-risk choice for buyers who value a mature app, established support, retail availability, and a proven health-tracking ecosystem.
The practical verdict is simple: choose Ring PRO for maximum endurance and avoiding recurring fees; choose Oura Ring 5 for software maturity and ecosystem confidence. Ultrahuman’s current US price, stock, delivery, warranty, and return terms should be confirmed at checkout before ordering.

What “Ultrahuman is back” actually means
Ultrahuman’s return is a product relaunch, not necessarily a full restoration of the company’s previous US business. The company’s earlier Ring Air availability was disrupted by a patent dispute involving Oura. In 2025, the US International Trade Commission ruled in Oura’s favor and restricted imports of certain competing smart rings, affecting Ultrahuman’s US operations.
Ultrahuman announced Ring PRO globally on February 27, 2026, initially excluding the United States. On March 24, it announced US pre-orders after saying the redesigned ring had received clearance from US Customs and Border Protection. TechCrunch reported that the new design was intended to address the dispute. Later reporting said US shipping began in June, but buyers should still check the live purchase page for current stock, delivery estimates, support arrangements, warranty coverage, and return eligibility.

That distinction matters. Customs clearance for Ring PRO means a specific redesigned product can enter the US; it does not establish that older Ring Air units can be imported, replaced, or serviced under the same conditions. Nor does it prove that every future legal or supply-chain risk has disappeared.
Ultrahuman has not been shown to have permanently resolved every aspect of its legal conflict with Oura. The safer description is that Ring PRO is a redesigned product cleared for US sales according to Ultrahuman’s announcement—not that Ultrahuman “won” the dispute or that future litigation is impossible.
Ultrahuman’s US-return announcement is the primary source for its pre-order and clearance claims.
What is new in Ring PRO?
Ring PRO is Ultrahuman’s third-generation smart ring. The announced hardware and software package includes:
- Titanium unibody construction
- A redesigned heart-rate sensing system
- A dual-core processor
- On-chip machine learning
- Up to 15 days of battery life, according to Ultrahuman
- Up to 250 days of on-device health-data storage, according to Ultrahuman
- Sizes 5 through 14
- Bionic Gold, Space Silver, Aster Black, and Raw Titanium finishes
- ProRelease Technology, which is designed to allow the ring to be cut apart in an emergency involving swelling or injury
- A Charger Mini and optional PRO Charging Case
- Qi wireless charging for the case
- Haptic and LED status feedback
- “Find My Case” functionality
- Jade, Ultrahuman’s health-data interpretation and coaching layer
The company also announced optional PowerPlugs for functions including AFib detection, cycle and ovulation tracking, respiratory health, and migraine insights. These are important distinctions: Ring PRO’s core experience is marketed as subscription-free, but the entire product proposition may not be free of add-on costs.
Ultrahuman describes Jade as “real-time biointelligence AI” spanning data from Ring, Blood Vision, Home, and M1 CGM products. That could make Ring PRO more appealing to users already invested in Ultrahuman’s broader ecosystem. For a buyer who wants only a simple sleep-and-recovery ring, however, the wider platform may add complexity rather than value.
Terms such as “medical-grade,” “world first,” and “three to four times the competition” should be treated as company marketing unless supported by independent clinical or comparative evidence. The same caution applies to Ultrahuman’s announced claims about more than 90% ovulation-tracking accuracy and AFib detection. A health feature is not automatically a diagnosis tool, FDA-cleared device, or substitute for medical care.

Ultrahuman Ring PRO vs. Oura Ring 5
| Category | Ultrahuman Ring PRO | Oura Ring 5 |
|---|---|---|
| US availability | US pre-orders announced in March 2026; verify current stock and delivery | Available through Oura and retailers |
| Starting hardware price | $479 global launch price; $349 early-bird US offer was reported for the first 1,000 customers | $399 for base finishes |
| Premium hardware | Current standard US price requires live verification | $499 for listed premium finishes |
| Subscription | No mandatory subscription for core insights, according to Ultrahuman | $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually in the US |
| Battery | Up to 15 days, according to Ultrahuman | Up to 6–9 days, depending on size and usage |
| Charging case | Optional PRO Charging Case; combined ring-and-case endurance is claimed at approximately 45 days | Charging case listed at $99 and holds up to five charges |
| On-device storage | Up to 250 days, according to Ultrahuman | No equivalent figure is established here |
| Sizes | 5–14 | Confirm the current range on the live product page |
| Platform | Ultrahuman app, Jade, PowerPlugs, and wider Ultrahuman ecosystem | Oura App, Oura Membership, health tools, and partner integrations |
| Most apparent strength | Battery life and avoiding a recurring fee | App maturity, ecosystem, support, and lower entry hardware price |
Oura lists Ring 5 at $399 to $499 and advertises up to six to nine days of battery life, depending on size and usage. Its US membership costs $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year, after a complimentary first month for new members.
The three-year ownership-cost difference
The subscription changes the comparison substantially. A base Oura Ring 5 costs $399. Assuming a complimentary first month followed by annual membership, three years of membership costs approximately $209.97. That produces a hardware-plus-membership total of about $608.97 before tax.
For a $499 premium Oura finish, the equivalent three-year total is approximately $708.97 before tax. These are illustrations, not guaranteed checkout totals: promotions, taxes, billing timing, and plan selection can change the final amount.
The reported $349 Ring PRO offer was an early-bird promotion for the first 1,000 US customers, not evidence of the current standard price. WIRED reported that launch offer. Ultrahuman’s global launch price was announced as $479.

If Ring PRO’s current US price is close to $479, Oura is cheaper at the moment of purchase but can become more expensive over several years. If the buyer receives the $349 promotion—or if the buyer would keep Oura for many years—the subscription-free model is substantially more attractive. The calculation also needs to include any PRO Charging Case and paid PowerPlugs the buyer actually chooses.
Is the 15-day battery advantage meaningful?
Probably—but “up to 15 days” is a maximum claim, not a guaranteed daily result. Actual endurance can vary with ring size, sleep tracking, workouts, continuous measurements, firmware updates, Bluetooth use, temperature, and battery aging.
The optional PRO Charging Case is said to extend combined use to approximately 45 days. That does not mean the ring itself lasts 45 days on one charge. It means the case stores additional energy for recharging the ring. The case therefore adds convenience for travel, but also introduces another battery, cable, and potential failure point.
Before treating the claim as a decisive victory, buyers should want answers to several practical questions:
- How close does real-world endurance come to 15 days with sleep and exercise tracking enabled?
- How quickly does the case recharge, and does it work with ordinary Qi chargers?
- How much capacity remains after a year or two of use?
- Does the case’s 45-day estimate assume ideal conditions and limited ring use?
- Does long-term on-device storage synchronize reliably after an extended offline period?
- What happens if the case is lost or damaged?
On the published figures alone, Ring PRO has a meaningful charging advantage over Oura Ring 5’s claimed six-to-nine-day range. Independent long-term testing is still needed before calling it a real-world advantage of two times or more.
Software is the real battleground
Smart rings are not judged only by sensors. They are judged by whether the resulting measurements are consistent, understandable, and useful enough to change behavior.
Oura’s Ring 5 product page highlights more than 50 health metrics, including sleep, activity, readiness, stress, heart health, and women’s health. Oura also has a longer-established US software, retail, partner, and support ecosystem. That maturity is the principal reason Oura remains the safer all-around recommendation despite its membership fee.
Ring PRO’s challenge is to show that Jade turns its data into better decisions rather than simply adding another layer of scores and AI language. A meaningful comparison should examine:
- Whether sleep stages and sleep quality are explained clearly
- How recovery or readiness scores respond to unusual schedules, illness, travel, and missed data
- Whether stress and resilience features lead to useful recommendations
- How exercise and movement are analyzed
- How temperature trends and cardiovascular measurements are presented
- Whether cycle, ovulation, respiratory, AFib, and migraine features are clearly qualified
- The quality of long-term trend views and data export
- Apple Health, Android, and third-party integrations
- Whether recommendations are actionable rather than generic
- Which features are included and which require PowerPlugs
More AI branding does not establish better coaching. Nor does a longer sensor list establish greater accuracy. Ring PRO may eventually match or exceed Oura for particular users, but the supplied evidence does not support declaring it more accurate or clinically superior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What “no subscription” includes—and what it does not
Ultrahuman says Ring PRO’s core sleep, recovery, movement, stress, and circadian insights do not require a mandatory subscription. That is a strong advantage for people who dislike paying indefinitely for access to their own data.
However, buyers should verify the commercial details before purchase:

- Is an account required?
- Can data be exported if the user leaves the platform?
- Does cloud processing remain necessary despite the ring’s on-device storage?
Oura’s full experience is membership-dependent, but it is more accurate to say that the app becomes limited without active membership—not that the ring is entirely unusable. Oura’s membership documentation describes the pricing and access model.

What the patent dispute means for buyers
The dispute creates a risk that ordinary spec comparisons miss. A ring can be excellent on paper and still be a poor purchase if replacements, repairs, software support, or inventory become difficult.
For Ring PRO, buyers should confirm:
- Whether the US-purchased model is supported by a US entity or a different regional operation
- Where replacement hardware ships from
- How warranty claims are handled in the United States
- Whether the return policy applies to worn or sized rings
- Whether PowerPlugs and all app functions are available to US customers
- What support is available if import restrictions or future litigation affect supply
The redesigned architecture may reduce the risk associated with the earlier dispute, but it does not prove permanent legal or commercial stability. This is where Oura has an important advantage: a longer-established US retail and support presence.
Fit, health claims, and other buying risks
Fit matters more than the specification sheet
Smart-ring readings depend on consistent skin contact, finger placement, temperature, swelling, and fit. Anyone whose finger size changes substantially during the day, after exercise, or in hot weather should resolve sizing before committing to the purchase.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRing PRO’s titanium construction and ProRelease Technology address emergency removal, but a ring that can be cut apart is not a replacement for avoiding an unsafe fit. Confirm the sizing-kit price, purchase credit, return conditions, and exchange process before ordering. Oura also warns that sizing-kit and return policies can vary by retailer; its retail-purchase guidance is worth checking when buying outside Oura’s own store.
Do not use either ring as a medical device by default
AFib detection, ovulation tracking, respiratory analysis, and migraine insights need careful regulatory and clinical qualification. “Medical-grade” is not synonymous with FDA clearance, clinical validation, or suitability for diagnosis.
Users should not change medication, contraception, or medical care based solely on readings from Ring PRO or Oura. Anyone concerned about a symptom should use an appropriate regulated device or consult a clinician.
On-device storage does not mean total independence
Ring PRO’s claimed 250 days of storage may help when a phone is unavailable, but users may still need an account and app to view, interpret, back up, or export the data. Future software features can also be changed, paywalled, retired, or restricted by country.

Ring PRO is the better fit if you:
- Strongly reject recurring subscriptions
- Travel frequently, camp, work irregular hours, or dislike frequent charging
- Want the longest advertised battery life among these two rings
- Already use Ultrahuman products or want its wider CGM and health-data ecosystem
- Accept a newer product with a less-established US service history
- Are comfortable checking which optional PowerPlugs you actually need
Buy it only after confirming the current US price, stock, delivery, warranty, returns, and support route.
Who should buy Oura Ring 5?
Oura Ring 5 is the better fit if you:
- Prioritize a mature app and established health-insight experience
- Care more about sleep and recovery interpretation than maximum battery life
- Want a familiar US retail, sizing, returns, and support ecosystem
- Value Oura’s existing partner integrations and health programs
- Prefer the lower $399 starting hardware price
- Do not mind paying $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually for the full experience
Alternatives worth considering
Neither ring is automatically right for every buyer. Samsung Galaxy Ring is particularly relevant to people already invested in Samsung Galaxy phones and Samsung Health; see Samsung’s official Galaxy Ring hub. RingConn is another subscription-free option centered on long battery life and lower ownership cost, while Circular takes a different hardware and software approach. Their current US prices, compatibility, availability, warranties, and performance should be verified separately before making a decision.
Final verdict
Ring PRO can beat Oura on the two issues that frustrate many buyers most: charging and recurring fees. Ultrahuman’s announced figures—up to 15 days of ring battery life, approximately 45 days with the PRO Charging Case, and no mandatory subscription for core insights—make it the more compelling subscription-free alternative.
But Oura Ring 5 remains the safer all-around purchase for users who value established software, integrations, retail access, and support. Ring PRO cannot yet be declared the overall US market winner without independent long-term evidence on accuracy, reliability, battery degradation, app quality, customer service, returns, and firmware support.
