The Victorinox Swiss Army Night Vision is a quartz-watch family built around integrated LED lighting and signaling features. It is worth considering if you want those functions in a conventional wristwatch, but the exact capabilities vary by reference—and the available documentation does not establish current prices, stock, or how a particular used watch performs. Identify the reference before buying, then verify that its lights work and that its service history and condition meet your needs.
What is the Victorinox Night Vision?
Night Vision is a family of quartz watches, not one specification shared by every model. Victorinox maintains separate quick guides for the Night Vision and Night Vision Chronograph, so use the guide that matches the watch rather than assuming every version operates alike. Victorinox’s manuals and quick guides are the starting point.
The collection’s defining feature is an LED module integrated into the watch. Period Victorinox product literature describes a multifunction LED module, while noting that features depend on the model. It lists collection-level details including a stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, date and 50 m water resistance; these are period descriptions, not a current specification sheet for every reference. Victorinox’s archived 2015–2016 product workbook provides that historical context.
What do the lights do?
Depending on the reference, the LED module can illuminate the dial, act as a flashlight, or produce a strobe or pulsing signal. These are practical additions to a conventional watch, but they should not be treated as universal functions: check the specific reference’s quick guide and confirm the module works on the individual watch.

- Functional simplicity; epitomized in a timepiece
- Make Swiss Army Quartz your go-everywhere ally for outdoor adventures
- The Ronda 517 Quartz Day-Date movement sets a meticulous standard for calendar organization and timepiece accuracy
For example, the Tourneau listing for reference 241596 describes LED modules for dial illumination, flashlight and strobe functions. That retailer listing also identifies a quartz movement, 42 mm case and 50 m water resistance. These are claims for 241596, not independently tested measurements or family-wide guarantees. Tourneau’s reference 241596 listing gives the details.
A separate historical record for reference 241569 describes built-in lights that illuminate the dial, pulse to signal, or beam into surrounding darkness. The record identifies it as a 2012 launch, with hours, minutes, seconds and date, a 42 mm case, 13.9 mm thickness, quartz movement and 50 m water resistance. Those specifications apply to 241569. The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève’s Night Vision entry documents that reference.

What do the documented references tell you?
| Reference | Documented details | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 241569 | 2012 launch; 42 mm case; 13.9 mm thick; quartz movement; hours, minutes, seconds and date; 50 m water resistance | GPHG historical model record; applies to this reference |
| 241596 | 42 mm case; quartz movement; 50 m water resistance; dial illumination, flashlight and strobe functions described | Tourneau retailer listing; listing claims for this reference |
The two examples share a listed 42 mm case and 50 m water resistance, but that does not establish those dimensions or rating for every Night Vision. Nor does a historic rating establish the current water resistance of an older or secondhand watch: seals age, and condition matters. Check the caseback and the correct guide for the individual watch.
Is the Night Vision worth buying?
It may suit you if you specifically want a quartz watch with integrated illumination and signaling, and the example in front of you has the functions you intend to use. The evidence available for this review does not include firsthand wear testing or a rigorous comparison with current alternatives, so it cannot support a comfort verdict, performance ranking or head-to-head recommendation. Case diameter alone does not establish how a watch will fit; consider the actual watch, strap and your preferences in person where possible.

Because current availability and pricing are not established here, there is no defensible universal value verdict. For a used or older example, weigh the asking price against the reference, condition, operating lights, service records, seller reputation and return terms rather than relying on collection-wide claims.
What to check before buying a used Night Vision
- Reference: Read the caseback and match its number to the relevant Victorinox guide. Do not assume a Night Vision Chronograph shares the standard model’s controls or functions.
- Light module: Test each documented light or signal function. A working time display does not prove that the LED module works.
- Condition and fit: Inspect the case, crystal and strap, and assess the actual watch on your wrist. Confirm any replacement strap’s compatibility with the exact reference before ordering.
- Service history: Ask when the battery was last replaced and whether the watch has been serviced or water-resistance tested.
- Water use: Verify the rating for that case and ask for a current water-resistance test if you plan to expose it to water. A rating in an old listing is not proof of present seal condition.
- Seller and terms: Check seller reputation, what is included, and whether you can return the watch if its reference, condition or functions do not match the description.
Battery replacement and maintenance
Victorinox’s official guidance is to have the battery replaced by an authorized retailer or service center. The brand states: “Batteries should be replaced at an Authorised Victorinox Swiss Army retailer or service centre.” It advises against DIY replacement and says authorized service helps preserve warranty coverage and includes water-resistance testing. Victorinox’s watch FAQ sets out this guidance.

The same FAQ gives approximately 24 months as general quartz-watch battery-life guidance, measured from assembly or the last service—not a tested lifespan or guarantee for an individual Night Vision. Actual life depends on factors including the movement and use of the light functions. Victorinox also gives a general maintenance-service interval of 18–24 months; the interval for a complete overhaul depends on model, use and local climate. Follow the advice for the specific watch and have its water resistance checked after service if you intend to rely on it.
