The Ferragamo F-80 Skeleton is an automatic mechanical watch, but the name covers more than one documented iteration. Ferragamo’s 2023 version is specified with a 41 mm composite case, Landeron 24 Swiss Made automatic skeleton movement and 100 m water resistance. Because the exact reference behind this title is not identified, the specifications below apply to the 2023 iteration—not automatically to every F-80 Skeleton.
Which Ferragamo F-80 Skeleton watch is this?
“F-80 Skeleton” is best treated as a model family rather than a single unchanging specification. Ferragamo’s sustainability page refers to a 2021 re-edition, while its 2023 annual report says an F-80 Skeleton with Sustainable Strap was first presented during World Ocean Month 2022 and then reinterpreted in 2023. The available statements do not explain how the 2021 re-edition relates to the 2022 presentation, so those dates should not be collapsed into one launch date. No exact reference number is established here. If you are assessing a particular Salvatore Ferragamo skeleton watch, use the reference on its case, paperwork or listing to determine which iteration—and therefore which materials and specifications—you are looking at.
2023 F-80 Skeleton specifications
Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2023 release describes this iteration as an automatic skeleton watch with a three-hand display. It gives the following specifications; they are Ferragamo’s published figures, not independent measurements.

Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection release supplies these figures. Its PDF is hosted on a retailer domain; the specifications are attributed here to Ferragamo’s release, not to the host. The annual report gives additional detail on the 2023 case and strap composition below.
How the versions differ in materials
2021 re-edition strap and packaging
Ferragamo describes the 2021 re-edition strap as having a thin FSC-certified cork layer on the inside and post-consumer recycled PET fibre fabric on the outside, with vegetable-tanned leather hole covers. Its sustainability page also describes FSC-certified cardboard packaging, a protective shell made of wood and metal lined with hemp and covered in recycled PET fabric, and a watch cushion made from bioplastic derived entirely from sugar cane. Ferragamo says it quantified the product carbon footprint according to ISO 14067 requirements, but the cited page does not provide a quantified footprint result. (Ferragamo sustainability page)

2023 case and strap composition
Ferragamo’s 2023 annual report describes the later 41 mm case as 60% ceramic powder from natural minerals and 40% nylon, with 63% bio-based content from renewable sources. It describes the TPU strap as containing 39% bio-based content. These are Ferragamo’s material-accounting figures; they do not by themselves establish an independently measured environmental benefit, durability result or life-cycle impact. In that statement Ferragamo writes: “The transparent design of the caseback and dial allows the consumer to become more aware of the next step towards environmental sustainability, resulting from the choice of the Landeron 24 automatic movement.” This is the company’s explanation of the design; it is not an independent assessment of the watch’s environmental impact.

Winding and setting the automatic skeleton watch
Ferragamo’s instruction manual says its automatic skeleton watch is wound by wrist movement. It also provides these instructions for a crown-equipped automatic skeleton watch. Check the individual watch’s documentation and crown arrangement before applying them: the manual includes other watch types with different setting arrangements.
- Hand-wind: turn the crown clockwise approximately 20 full turns.
- Set the time: pull the crown to position 3, turn it anticlockwise until the desired time is reached, then return the crown to position 1.
These directions come from Ferragamo’s Watches Instruction Manual. The approximately 20-turn instruction is the manual’s guidance, not a measured power-reserve or winding test for a specific reference.

What to verify before buying
Ferragamo’s 2023 release said the F-80 Skeleton automatic watches would be available from March 2023 through Ferragamo boutiques, ferragamo.com and selected authorized retailers. That historical release does not establish current stock. Ferragamo’s current US watch catalogue search result features other F-80 models, including the F-80 Classic GMT and F-80 Auto Manufacture; neither should be mistaken for the Skeleton. - Reference and iteration: confirm that the listing is for the Skeleton and identify the specific reference.
- Materials: distinguish the 2021 cork and recycled-PET strap description from the 2023 composite-case and TPU details.
- Movement and display: verify the Landeron 24 automatic skeleton specification rather than assuming every F-80 uses it.
- Fit and use: check dimensions, water-resistance rating, strap and buckle details against documentation for that reference.
- Seller and condition: verify seller authorization, warranty, included packaging and condition on the current offer.
