In a March 30, 2022 report, GQ highlighted a new Tank Louis Cartier and three Tank Must models with black dials; it also called out a red-dial Tank Louis Cartier. That is a dated summary of the releases GQ discussed, not a complete list of every reference or regional configuration.
What were the new Cartier Tank models for 2022?
GQ Watch Editor Cam Wolf wrote that there was “one new Louis Cartier Tank” and “three of the more-affordable Tank Musts with striking black dials.” The same report describes a red-dial Tank Louis Cartier. How do Tank Must and Tank Louis Cartier differ?
Tank Must and Tank Louis Cartier are two lines within the broader Cartier Tank family, which also includes Tank Américaine and Tank Française. Cartier describes the family’s design signature through parallel brancards, Roman numerals and a cabochon sapphire crown. A current Tank Must SolarBeat specification example
Cartier’s official page lists reference WSTA0122 as a large Tank Must SolarBeat with a photovoltaic movement, steel case and bracelet, silvered dial, blued-steel sword-shaped hands and folding buckle. Its case measures 33.7 × 25.5 mm and is 6.6 mm thick; water resistance is up to 3 bar, approximately 30 metres. What to check when comparing the watches
- Release year: Separate the 2022 models GQ reported from references shown in Cartier’s current catalog.
- Movement: The lines have different movement options in the current US listing; check the movement specified for the exact reference.
