What Tough Solar does
Tough Solar is the GWG-B1000’s light-powered supply system. Light charges the watch’s rechargeable battery so its functions can operate; solar charging does not set the time or take environmental measurements. Casio estimates approximately six months of operation after a full charge with no further light during normal use. It estimates up to 24 months in total darkness when Power Saving is enabled. These are manufacturer estimates under those conditions, not guarantees of identical runtime for every wearer. Casio’s GWG-B1000-1A3 specifications describe the charging system and reserve.

What Multi Band 6 does
Multi Band 6 is the watch’s radio-controlled time-calibration function. The GWG-B1000 can receive time signals from transmitters Casio lists in Germany (DCF77), England (MSF), the United States (WWVB), Japan (JJY) and China (BPC). The watch can also attempt calibration automatically: up to six times per day, or up to five times for the Chinese signal. Automatic attempts stop for the day after a successful reception. Casio Europe’s GWG-B1000-1A specifications list the transmitters and reception behavior.

Bluetooth provides a different route: when linked with the CASIO WATCHES app, the watch can receive automatic time adjustments through the phone connection. Bluetooth linking and Multi Band 6 are distinct functions, not two names for the same timekeeping method.

What the Triple Sensor measures
Casio describes the sensor suite as a compass, altimeter/barometer and thermometer. Its measurements can help with orientation and tracking environmental changes, but the readings have defined ranges and limitations.
Compass: direction
The compass measures 16 directions and direction angles from 0 to 359 degrees. It can measure continuously for 60 seconds, guide the wearer toward north, and store a bearing in bearing memory. The seconds hand indicates north; an indicator hand can show a saved bearing or point toward a location using Location Indicator. Casio’s specifications list the compass functions and measurement details.

Altimeter: relative altitude
The altimeter measures relative altitude from −700 to 10,000 metres in 1-metre display units. Casio lists manual storage for up to 30 altitude memories, along with automatic records such as high and low altitude and cumulative ascent and descent. Measurements are taken every second for the first three minutes, then at a selectable interval of either five seconds or two minutes.

The app can adjust altitude using smartphone GPS data, but Casio warns that GPS information may contain errors and the corrected figure may not match actual altitude. Treat the reading as a useful reference rather than a surveyed elevation.
Barometer: pressure trends
The barometer’s stated measurement range is 260–1,100 hPa. The watch displays pressure trends and a pressure-difference indicator, and it can alert the wearer to characteristic pressure changes. These features show pressure information; they should not be treated as a guaranteed weather forecast.
Thermometer: ambient temperature
The thermometer measures from −10 to 60 °C. For an ambient-temperature reading, Casio advises taking the watch off the wrist. Body heat, perspiration, water droplets, direct sunlight and other external conditions can affect the measurement.

What the CASIO WATCHES app adds
The app supplements the watch’s built-in systems with automatic time adjustment, world time, mode customization, phone finder and location features. Mission Log combines altitude measured by the watch with a route obtained from the smartphone’s GPS. Location Memory saves places, while Location Indicator can show the direction and distance to a saved location or a point set on the app’s map. Casio notes a limitation on manually setting map points in China. These app features complement the solar, radio and sensor functions; they are not what Tough Solar, Multi Band 6 or Triple Sensor mean.
