A flyback chronograph resets and immediately restarts elapsed-time measurement with one pusher press. Timex lists two watches with that function: the Waterbury Traditional Fly-Back Chronograph (TW2W47900) and the Timex x Pan Am Fly-Back Chronograph (TW2W97200). The cited Rado and Franck Muller chronograph pages describe stopwatch-equipped watches but do not document flyback operation for the models they show. That distinction matters: “chronograph” alone does not mean “flyback.”
What does flyback mean on a chronograph?
A conventional chronograph measures elapsed time using a stopwatch function. A flyback adds a quicker way to time consecutive intervals: press the flyback pusher once, and the chronograph hand resets to zero and starts timing again immediately. You do not first stop the chronograph and then reset and restart it in separate steps.
Timex describes its flyback pusher as instantly resetting and restarting the chronograph. On its examples, the upper subdial also serves as a second time-zone indicator when the chronograph is not being used. Timex says the function was originally developed for pilots and connects it with rapid consecutive timing and navigation; that aviation background is Timex’s account.
Which Timex watches are documented as flybacks?

These are two specifically documented Timex examples, not evidence that every Timex chronograph is a flyback. Product pages and retail status can change, so confirm the reference and current details on the Waterbury listing and Pan Am listing before buying.

Does the cited Rado chronograph have flyback?
The available Rado information does not establish that. Rado’s US chronograph page describes a chronograph as a watch with a stopwatch function and says its lineup includes automatic and quartz chronographs. That describes the broader category, not a flyback feature.
A named example is the Rado New Original Chronograph R12638173. Rado’s UK product page lists a 38.5 mm case, quartz movement, caliber R370, and date and chronograph functions. It does not identify the watch as a flyback. Without model-specific documentation, it should be called a chronograph, not a flyback chronograph.

Does the cited Franck Muller chronograph have flyback?
That feature is not specified in the cited listing. Franck Muller USA describes the V45CCBR5NGR Vanguard Chronograph as a 44 mm, 18K rose-gold, automatic chronograph, with a mechanical chronograph movement finished, assembled, and regulated in Switzerland by the company’s watchmakers and technicians. The Franck Muller website does not establish flyback operation for this reference. A chronograph movement is not enough to infer that function.

- Check the exact reference. Look for flyback wording in the manufacturer’s page or manual for that model, rather than relying on a collection name or a seller’s generic chronograph description.
- Confirm the operation. The defining behavior is reset and restart with one pusher action; a standard stop-reset-start sequence is not the same function.
- Separate confirmed features from styling. Case size, materials, dial layout, date, water resistance, and a slide-rule bezel can be useful specifications, but none proves flyback operation.
- Verify regional and live details. Product availability, prices, and authorized retail options depend on location and can change. Use the brand’s current regional listing or an authorized seller.
For a Rado watch, the brand’s manuals page uses the watch’s serial number to identify its movement caliber and the corresponding manual section. Rado notes that this tool does not authenticate a watch.
