For everyday wear, choose a useful watch face, set notification and lighting behavior to suit your routine, and select a heart-rate mode with a battery trade-off you can live with.
Set up workout screens around the data you use
Use the CASIO WATCHES app to choose which measurement screens appear for each activity and what data they show. Casio allows up to seven screens per activity. Measurement Screen 1 is fixed; screens 2 through 7 can be selected from the other available screens. The options depend on the activity.

- If you mainly check heart rate and elapsed time, prioritize those fields rather than cycling through screens you rarely use.
- For running, consider distance, pace or lap-related information if it is available for your selected activity.

Turn on training alerts only if target feedback is useful
TRAINING ALERT can provide feedback during an activity, but you must set its target values in CASIO WATCHES. Casio says those targets cannot be configured through watch operations.

- Hold C for at least two seconds to open that activity’s measurement settings.
- Select TRAINING ALERT, switch it ON and confirm.
- Set the target values in CASIO WATCHES.
The alert setting is activity-specific, so configure the activity you intend to use. General notification sound and vibration choices are documented separately; do not assume every activity alert uses the same behavior.
Choose a heart-rate mode for your tracking and charging routine
The heart-rate setting changes when the watch measures continuously and how much battery that use consumes. Casio describes these three options:

Casio recommends creating a profile first for more accurate displayed values. If you choose ACTIVITY & NIGHT TIME ON, set the night-time interval in the watch’s general settings to match your intended sleep period. Heart-rate measurement is listed as 30–220 bpm in Casio’s DW-H5600 product specifications; that is the stated measurement range, not a promise that every reading will be accurate in every circumstance.

Make the everyday face and menus quicker to use
Select a current-time face in CASIO WATCHES. For the customizable face, choose the listed items that are useful at a glance, such as steps, cardio load status, heart rate, sleep score, calories or active time. Casio’s instructions make this customization app-based.

The app can also change the sequence of Watch Mode and Activity Mode functions and add or remove functions. Put the functions you use most often nearer the front, so you spend less time navigating the watch.
Set notification sound, vibration and silent mode

- OFF: notifications disabled.
To toggle silent mode, hold the lower-right button for more than three seconds while the time is displayed. In silent mode, notifications vibrate regardless of the beep/vibration setting, and illumination does not turn on during notifications or button operations. That makes silent mode different from simply choosing OFF for notification behavior.
Balance backlight readability against illumination
Auto Light can be turned on or off, and illumination duration can be set to 1.5 or 5 seconds. Choose the shorter duration if you prefer the light to remain on for less time; choose the longer one if you need more time to read the display.

Casio’s December 18, 2023 notice says a watch software update added notification-related lighting behavior for the DW-H5600. The notification light itself cannot be turned off; silent mode suppresses that illumination. If your watch behaves differently from these instructions, check its software version and update information for your model and region. Read Casio’s DW-H5600 update notice for the change details.
Check model and software details before following a menu path
The “DW-GH5600” wording in the topic appears to be a typo: Casio’s product page and module 3516 documentation identify the relevant watch as the DW-H5600. Menu labels, app behavior and features can vary with regional variant, app version and watch software, so confirm the model shown on your watch before changing settings.
