The silver-dial Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph (reference T137.427.11.011.00) is not inexpensive in absolute terms: Tissot’s US site lists it at $2,150. What makes it compelling is the combination of the angular PRX case, an automatic chronograph movement and a three-register dial. Its appeal comes with real trade-offs: it is thick, heavy and far more expensive than the PRX quartz chronograph.
What the PRX Automatic Chronograph costs—and what you get
Tissot’s US listing for the silver-dial reference T137.427.11.011.00 is $2,150. That is a US-listed price, not a global price guarantee; prices and availability can vary by market and change over time. The “affordable” description is therefore relative, especially within the PRX family.

The case is stainless steel, 42 mm wide and 14.54 mm thick, with a stated weight of 184 g. Tissot specifies a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the underside, a display back and water resistance of 100 m (10 bar). The white/silver dial has three chronograph registers and a date display. Tissot describes its satin-finished, angular design as a laid-back 1970s sports-watch style; that is the brand’s characterization, not an independent history of the design. Tissot identifies the movement as the Valjoux A05.H31, a Swiss automatic chronograph caliber, and currently lists a 65-hour power reserve. A March 2022 Fratello review gives a different figure—60 hours—so the figures should not be treated as interchangeable. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Bracelet
The supplied steel bracelet has a quick-release system; Tissot lists it as reference T605047903. Fratello describes a butterfly clasp, half-links for sizing and no micro-adjustment. That last detail can make fine-tuning fit less convenient: bracelet sizing is handled with links rather than a sliding clasp adjustment. If you are considering a different bracelet or strap, verify compatibility with the exact watch reference rather than assuming a standard strap will fit.
Why the automatic version can be the more satisfying PRX
The automatic chronograph makes a stronger case for someone who values the mechanical character of a chronograph as much as the PRX design. Its appeal is not that it is the better choice for everyone, or that it is a bargain against the quartz version. It is that the PRX’s integrated steel look is paired here with an automatic movement and a busy, instrument-like three-register dial.

The silver dial keeps the layout legible as a visual composition while giving the watch more presence than the simpler three-hand PRX models. The display back also makes the movement visible. These details help explain why someone might prefer the automatic chronograph even when its extra thickness, weight and cost are not practical advantages.

How it compares with the PRX quartz chronograph
The closest sourced lower-cost comparison is Tissot’s own PRX quartz chronograph. It shares the family design and 100 m water-resistance rating, but uses a battery-powered quartz movement rather than the automatic caliber. Tissot’s US pages list these specifications and prices:

The quartz model’s $525 listed price is $1,625 less, and its case is 2.89 mm thinner and 33 g lighter according to Tissot’s listings. That makes it the more straightforward pick if lower cost and a slimmer, lighter watch matter most. It is not an automatic-movement substitute: the movement type is a central difference, not a minor specification.

Will the 42 mm PRX chronograph fit your wrist?
Diameter alone does not settle the fit question. Tissot lists a 41.5 mm case length, while Fratello reviewer Robert-Jan Broer measured 46.5 mm lug-to-lug and explained that the measurements describe different dimensions. In his 2022 hands-on review, he called the watch large and heavy and said it wore well on his 19 cm wrist. In a later owner-perspective article, he reported good fit on an 18.5 cm wrist and said it looked substantially larger than the 35 mm and 40 mm three-hand PRX. Those are individual observations, not a wrist-size rule. Fratello hands-on review · Fratello owner perspective

At 184 g, the watch is substantial on paper, and the bracelet adds to that feeling. Broer opened his review by noting its weight after unboxing; that is a subjective firsthand impression, not a standardized test. The integrated bracelet’s butterfly clasp and lack of micro-adjustment may also affect comfort if your wrist changes size during the day.

- Compare the watch’s 42 mm width, 41.5 mm case length and 14.54 mm thickness with a watch you already find comfortable.
- If possible, try it on with the bracelet sized correctly. An unsized bracelet can give a misleading impression of how it wears.
- Pay attention to how the case sits above the wrist and whether the bracelet can be adjusted comfortably with its available links.
Which PRX chronograph should you choose?
Choose the automatic if
- You specifically want an automatic chronograph and value that mechanical character.
- You like the fuller three-register dial and are comfortable with a 42 mm, 14.54 mm-thick, 184 g watch.
- The $2,150 US-listed price fits your budget and the size works on your wrist.
Choose the quartz if
- You want the PRX chronograph look at Tissot’s lower US-listed price of $525.
- A thinner and lighter case matters more than having an automatic movement.
- You are comfortable choosing a battery-powered quartz chronograph instead.
This comparison establishes a same-family, lower-priced option; it is not a survey of every similarly priced chronograph. Whether the automatic PRX is preferable depends on what you want from the movement, how the watch fits and how much value you place on the mechanical version of the design.
