That moving architecture, layered with conventional dial details such as minutes and a date display, makes the watch look unlike a standard hands-and-indices design. The precise movement and specifications depend on the reference, so details below are identified by model and source.
How the Crazy Wheel displays the hours
Instead of leaving the hour indication in one fixed position, the Crazy Wheel uses a rotating Flying Hour Bridge. In the CW-04-02 described by Fratello’s 2020 article, the bridge makes a full 360-degree rotation and carries the hour display around the dial. The result is a moving focal point: the wearer reads the hour on the bridge as it changes position, while other information remains on the surrounding dial.
The mechanism is not described identically across all Crazy Wheel coverage. Fratello says the CW-04-02 uses a 25-jewel Soprod A10 self-winding movement as its base, with an added rotating module. By contrast, Watch I Love’s 2021 report on CW-04-07 identifies an FD01 automatic movement and describes a mechanical differential that keeps the hour sub-counter horizontal as the bridge revolves. These are reference-specific accounts, not interchangeable specifications for every Crazy Wheel.
What gives the dial its layered look
On the CW-04-02, the moving bridge is only part of the visual effect. Fratello describes a multi-layered, satin-finished silver dial with exposed elements of the date wheel. A blue chapter ring and yellow numerals add contrast, while an aeronautically styled minute hand supplies a more familiar time-reading cue. The visible construction makes the dial feel architectural rather than flat: components at different heights, colors, and functions compete for attention without reducing the watch to a single novelty display.

The reviewer, guest author Steve Huyton, singled out the dial’s combination of layers and exposed date-wheel parts. That observation applies to the CW-04-02 he covered; other references may use different finishes or layouts.
Case, dimensions, and wearing impression
Fratello reports the CW-04-02 in a Grade 5 titanium case measuring 43 × 50 mm, with no conventional lugs. Huyton says it felt comfortable and lightweight during his own wear. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of fit: the 50 mm dimension and unusual case shape are worth checking against the wearer’s wrist and preferences.

Other reported Crazy Wheel versions differ. Watch I Love lists CW-04-07 as a black PVD-coated titanium case measuring 43 × 50 × 13.35 mm, with a sapphire crystal. Monochrome’s Crazy Wheel review gives a 43 mm diameter for a titanium version, but does not establish that it is the same reference as either CW-04-02 or CW-04-07. These descriptions should not be combined into a single universal case specification.
Reported specifications vary by reference
The available coverage spans several references and uses different movement names and configurations. This comparison is useful for keeping those details separate; it is not a controlled test of equivalent watches.

The CW-04-07’s water-resistance and strap details come from Watch I Love’s 2021 account; it reports 10 ATM / 100 m and an Elastogator strap with a titanium folding buckle. Ashford’s CW-04-06 listing separately names a leather-and-rubber strap and lists 100 m. A retailer listing is not independent technical verification.

Watch I Love described that release as five pieces; neither the edition report nor the historical price establishes present stock, production status, or what a watch should cost today.
