Zenith’s 160th-anniversary DEFY Zero G sapphire watches and the DEFY Skyline Tourbillon are related by the brand’s watchmaking, but they are not the same model. The Zero G editions use a gimbal-mounted mechanism Zenith says keeps the regulating organ horizontal; the Skyline Tourbillon uses a rotating one-minute tourbillon. The Zero G sapphire versions are limited to 10 pieces each, while the steel and black ceramic Skyline Tourbillon specifications describe a separate collection model.
How the Zero G differs from the Skyline Tourbillon
The distinction is mechanical, not just a difference in case design. Zenith’s October 14, 2025 announcement describes the DEFY Zero G’s Gravity Control module as a gimbal-mounted assembly that keeps the regulating organ horizontal. Zenith says the idea was inspired by gimbal-suspended marine chronometers. The company contrasts it with a tourbillon, which rotates the regulating organ to address positional errors in certain static positions. These are Zenith’s explanations of the mechanisms; they are not independent test results establishing that one watch is more accurate in everyday wear. Zenith’s Zero G announcement.
In a Zero G, the module—not the whole movement—is the part Zenith says is held horizontal. The Skyline Tourbillon instead places its regulating assembly in a tourbillon that makes one rotation per minute. The two mechanisms address positional effects differently, so the name “Zero G” should not be read as another name for a tourbillon.
What are the DEFY Zero G 160th-anniversary editions?
Zenith announced two sapphire-cased Zero G versions: one deep celestial blue and one transparent. Each is limited to 10 pieces worldwide, for 20 watches across these two versions. The production limit does not establish how many remain available now. Zenith’s release also cites more than 2,333 chronometry awards in the Maison’s history of observatory competitions; that is a company-wide historical figure, not a Zero G-specific award count.

Do not confuse it with the Skyline Chronograph 160th Anniversary
The blue ceramic DEFY Skyline Chronograph 160th Anniversary Edition is a separate watch, not a Zero G and not a Skyline Tourbillon. Zenith describes it as a 42 mm chronograph limited to 160 pieces, with an El Primero 3600 movement. Its chronograph seconds hand completes a rotation in 10 seconds, and the release describes a 1/10th-second display. It comes with a blue rubber strap that can be exchanged for its ceramic bracelet using the integrated quick-change setup. Those chronograph details do not apply to the tourbillon. Zenith’s January 19, 2026 release introduced a rose-gold DEFY Skyline Tourbillon Skeleton, reference 18.9300.3630/78.I001, limited to 50 pieces. Its stated movement is the El Primero 3630 SK, with a 5 Hz frequency and 50-hour power reserve; the 41 mm case is rated to 10 ATM. Zenith listed prices of 91,900 CHF, 102,800 EUR, and 103,700 USD in that release. These figures and the 50-hour reserve belong to the rose-gold Skeleton, not the steel and black ceramic Skyline Tourbillon specification above. Zenith’s Skeleton release.
