It includes only the braided cable-and-magnetic-puck assembly—not a wall adapter. It charges every Apple Watch model Apple lists as compatible, but fast charging is limited to eligible newer models and requires a suitable USB-C power adapter.
What this Apple Watch charger is
This is an Apple Watch charging puck permanently attached to a 1-meter woven USB-C cable. The magnetic, concave puck aligns automatically with the rear of the watch, while its sealed design has no exposed electrical contacts on the charging surface.

It is not a general-purpose USB-C cable. The USB-C connector is used to supply power to the Apple Watch charging puck; it cannot replace a USB-C cable for charging phones, tablets, or laptops.

What comes in the box?
The box contains one Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable (1 m). No USB-C wall adapter is included.
If you do not already own a USB-C power source, Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter costs $19 in the U.S. at the cited price, bringing the Apple-branded setup to $48 before tax.
Compatibility: charging is not the same as fast charging
Apple lists this charger as compatible with:
- Apple Watch Ultra 3, Ultra 2, and Ultra
- Apple Watch SE 3, SE 2, and SE
- Apple Watch Series 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1
- Apple Watch, 1st generation
That broad compatibility list does not mean every model fast-charges. Older watches can charge from the puck at their normal supported rate. Apple introduced Apple Watch fast charging with Series 7, and fast charging remains restricted to models that support it.

The safest distinction is:
| Claim | What it means |
|---|---|
| Compatible | The watch can charge from the magnetic puck. |
| Fast-charging capable | The cable can support fast charging when paired with an eligible watch and suitable USB-C adapter. |
| Apple’s advertised 15-minute result | A model-specific estimate, not a universal result for every Apple Watch. |
Apple also lists selected AirPods charging cases as compatible. This depends on the case’s wireless-charging capability; it does not make the cable a charger for every AirPods model. A Mac with a suitable USB-C port can provide power, but it is acting as the power source rather than being charged by the accessory.
Check Apple’s current compatibility list.
What power adapter does it need?
You need a USB-C power source, such as:
- A USB-C wall adapter
- A Mac or compatible computer USB-C port
- A USB-C power bank
- A USB-C multiport charger
- A compatible travel adapter or charging dock
Apple’s Watch guide says fast charging requires a compatible charger and an 18W-or-greater USB-C power adapter. Apple specifically illustrates the product’s charging claims with its 20W USB-C Power Adapter.
A 30W, 65W, or 100W adapter will not automatically make the watch charge faster. The adapter, charger, and watch regulate the charging process. Higher wattage can still be useful if the same adapter powers other devices.

Apple’s charging and fast-charging requirements
How fast is it?
When paired with Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter, Apple says that 15 minutes of charging can provide:
- Apple Watch SE 3: up to 8 hours of battery life
- Apple Watch Series 11: up to 8 hours
- Apple Watch Ultra 3: up to 12 hours
These are Apple’s stated, model-specific figures—not independent test results or guaranteed charge percentages. Actual battery life varies with usage, settings, temperature, battery condition, and the watch’s starting charge level. Charging also normally slows as the battery approaches its upper charge limit.
How to use it
- Plug the USB-C connector into a compatible USB-C power source.
- Place the magnetic puck against the rear of the Apple Watch.
- Allow the magnet to center the puck.
- Confirm that the charging symbol appears. The watch normally plays a chime unless Silent Mode is enabled.
- Leave the watch and puck undisturbed while charging.
If the watch is not charging
- Confirm that the USB-C adapter, computer, or power bank is switched on.
- Push the USB-C connector fully into the power source.
- Clean and dry the watch’s rear and the charging puck.
- Reposition the watch so the puck lies flat and centered.
- Remove cases, debris, or other obstructions.
- Try another USB-C adapter or port.
- Restart the Apple Watch if it remains unresponsive.
If charging is slow or repeatedly interrupted, check the adapter’s capability and the accessory’s authenticity. Apple warns that counterfeit or uncertified chargers can cause slow charging, repeated chimes, and possible reductions in battery lifespan. Apple recommends Apple chargers or accessories carrying the Made for Apple Watch badge.

Apple guidance on Apple Watch chargers and certification
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Apple’s fast charger versus a standard magnetic charging cable
The practical differences are the USB-C connection, braided 1-meter construction, and support for fast charging on eligible watches. A standard or older USB-A magnetic cable can still charge supported watches, but it may require a different power source and will not provide fast charging to a watch that needs Apple’s fast-charging-capable charger.
For an older Apple Watch that cannot fast-charge, this cable may offer little speed benefit. Its main advantages in that case are the official Apple design, USB-C compatibility, and replacement convenience.

Alternatives by use case
- Official replacement: Buy this $29 Apple cable if you want a simple, single-watch charger and already have a USB-C adapter.
- Complete Apple setup: Add Apple’s 20W USB-C adapter if you need a wall plug.
- Two USB-C devices: Apple’s 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter is more suitable than a single-port adapter.
- Travel: A compact keychain or integrated-battery Apple Watch charger may be easier to pack.
- Nightstand: Choose a charging stand if you want the watch held upright rather than lying on a loose cable.
- Multiple devices: A 2-in-1 or 4-in-1 dock is better for charging an iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch together.
- Lower cost: Consider a third-party charger only when the listing clearly identifies Apple Watch certification, fast-charging support for your model, USB-C input, warranty, and return terms.
Apple’s accessory catalog includes products such as the Scosche WatchIt Keychain charger, Belkin 2-in-1 charging hardware, and mophie multi-device stands, but these serve different needs than a basic replacement cable. Browse Apple’s accessory categories.
Verdict
Buy the Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable (1 m) if you want an official, portable replacement and already own a USB-C power adapter. It is also a sensible choice for an eligible fast-charging Apple Watch.
Skip it in favor of a dock, power bank, multi-device charger, or third-party certified accessory if you need a wall adapter included, more than one charging surface, battery backup, different cable length, or a lower-cost setup. Fast charging is not available in every country or region, so check the local Apple listing before purchasing.
